My older brother who’s in his late seventies is back in the highlands now sadly I have never had the pleasure of even get out of london 54 myself hope I can just be there 1 day please thanks m8t funny how people drift apart six sisters three brothers never talk it is what it is
Oh my word I’m going to be watching all of them Murray, thank you for the pointer I love long treks sometimes 8 used to get lost for a couple of weeks, I even got lost for a year once ! Best times of my life, and all my plans changed along the way as there is always that extra special place , with a lack of other people, that I just had to hang around in, I’m going to really enjoy those longer lingerings Murray, I hope you bought a bag full of scotch eggs ! 😂
I'm not usually one for leaving comments on videos but I just had to say a big Thank You for this one. I've been watching your videos for a while now and this was utterly breath-taking, informative and entertaining to watch. The amount of work you put into these is incredible. Thanks for sharing these with us. looking forward to the next adventure.
Thanks Peter - glad you enjoyed this one - I wasn’t sure if it would be well received as it’s so long but wanted to put it out as the camp on the mountain top was so good :) got more wild camping videos to edit now (although they won’t be an hour long !) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Only one word “jealous “ 19 years ago I was at a low ebb in my life so I had a week in Fisherfield, best week I ever had and even now if I get fed up I just look back on my week of freedom. Thanks for sharing ATB
Thanks mate, loved the video! Could have stayed there for weeks just camping and wandering around. Thanks for sharing, I'll be visiting again with my wife when travelling is easier again. Happy hiking
I cracked open a new bottle of Longrow 21 to savour an hour long video of Murray wildcamping in my favourite part of Scotland. Hard to think of anything better!
Hi 👋 as with a lot of comments here, I don’t normally leave any on YT but as a fairly long standing viewer of your excellent vlogs, I had to say this is my fave so far and the hour flew by. Incredible footage and brilliantly put together. Fantastic 👍🏻
Exhausted? Exhausted! Exhausted!! Man I was knackered just watching you, Murray definitely your best video yet and WOW for the pics, when are you bringing out the album, calendar, book? I for one am on the waiting list, and please "keep walking".
Been a subscriber to your channel for many years, Murray, and always look forward to your films, but I've never commented on one before (or anywhere else on YT as it happens). However... that has just blown me away. What an utterly stunning account of an epic trip. I re-live my hillwalking days largely through your videos nowadays as distance prevents me from spending much time in the Highlands and my knees aren't what they were. I skirted the edges of Fisherfield, did An Teallach of course, but found the remoteness and wildness of its heart just a bit too intimidating, so that has left me a bit awestruck! Thank you for the best hour I've spent in your company in a long time. As you might say... fan-TAST-ic!
That is your best vlog for a long time and by a long way Murray. What a place man! And what a spot to camp. You certainly wouldn't want to be a sleep walker up there. And stunning photos to boot. Thanks for sharing your mega adventure Murray.
When you said tonight's was going to be a long one the other night I thought...I'll just skim through it...nope, watched every single second, absolutely outstanding and IMO the best you've done, loved it, respect.
Thanks Stuart - great time hear your feedback - I was sure this was going to be too long but it seems to have been well received - it was a fantastic wild camp and what a great mountain wilderness this area is - can’t wait to get back out there :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
The first time I visited the Highlands in Scotland I remember thinking, "It's absolutely true what they say, you really need to see it with your own eyes". Stunning place!
Man what a fantastic hike! It's so beautiful it's hard to believe you're not in a movie or a dream. You are so lucky to live your life in Scotland. I'm an American of scottish ancestors , and very proud of my ancestry, and very envious of people living in Scotland, but I can at least go there in videos like this! Also after that trip my feet and back don't even hurt a bit (ha) Thank you for the long, wonderful, beautiful video!
Love yer comments about Scotland I live on the foot of Ben Nevis where were surrounded by mountains we are blessed and glad you’ve got Scottish blood in your veins ……ive lived in America for a couple of years beautiful place ( Boston ) take care
Truly outstanding filming with epic scenes that our wonderful country has to offer. There needs to be awards for your films as they are just superb, thank you Murray for a spectacular hours worth of viewing, just brilliant! 🏴⛰
Absolutely love your channel . By far one of the best wild camping / hiking channels on RU-vid. Every time I watch it makes me want to move to Scotland. Keep up the great work . Stay safe too
Absolutely phenomenal views I love your vlogs. And the scenery in Scotland. I need to get myself fit and start exploring these wonderful places within our beautiful Country Scotland 🏴
Did a 60 miler round fisherfield and stayed in sheneval a few years back and I can honestly say it’s better than anything I’ve ever done. He’s not kidding when he says it’s a wilderness !
Enjoyed every minute, the summit scene on BDM completely magical. I walked in from Dundonnell, pitched the tent at Shenaval then did the two Corbetts BDB and BDM, the most adventurous part being wading back across the river to the tent at 11.30 in the evening - had to be done though if I wanted some tea
Absolutely superb! What an adventure,I think 99% of us viewers will only ever get to see those views through your video, that is one seriously long difficult trip from start to finish & beyond most of us..your photograph's as usual are out of this world, get them in a book like I've said before, they are totally unique..I love following all your vlogs but this one along with the one when you took mums letter up into the mountains to read are definitely my favourites..thanks for taking us along with you Murray,I for one appreciate all the time & effort you put into making these vlogs for us to view 👍🏻
Brilliant Murray…. One of the best advertisements for the true beauty of Scotland …. “Visit Scotland “ should use you for their promotional videos. More power to your boots 🏴🥃🏴
Absolutely stunning mate. You can never capture 100% the true impression but you did really well, I can only imagine how incredible it must have been live. Well done bud
Glad you didn’t film the guy lying pooped under the only tree at the start of Loch na Sealga……😊 It was great to meet you that day Murray. I did exactly and I mean exactly the same route, what looked like a grassy ramp up the flank of Beagg but like you ended up the same steep head on attack. A truly special wild camp and surreal weather, can’t wait to watch yours a relive the trip again.
Hi Simon - great meeting you too - I did think to myself - I wonder if this was the same route you took after we chatted !! Lol - a great reward for a hard climb though 👌👌👍👍
Came across this vlog by accident . The hour just flew by. What a fantastic adventure and stunning locations. Shows the best of what Scotland has to offer. Keep up the vlogs and stay safe
Stumbled across this yesterday. Didn't intend to watch the full hour but got gripped by it! Fantastic video (and photography) and full marks for how you put it together. Really enjoyed the sense of the great outdoors that came across clearly. Thanks for sharing. PS I'm subscribed now.
Absolutely fantastic vlog, stunning scenery & superb views most of us will never get to experience in our own footsteps .... but with your help we feel as though we're there. Amazing. Really appreciate the time & effort you put in to the filming & editing of all your work, Thankyou. 😁😁
Thank you ever so for this. As a wheelchair user, I don't get to go such incredibly remote places in person. But I did through you. That was amazingly beautiful and you really made it live for me. Thank you.
Hi Doug - thanks for commenting and hope you enjoy some of the upcoming vlogs - got some good ones lined up towards the end of the year :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Always find myself going back and rewatching your vids you differently have something going with this channel Sir thank you for all your hard work you do and time you give up doing these vids thank you ATB 👍👍👏
Great film, scares the life out of me at times! Was it really necessary to hide and padlock the bike though? Seems unlikely, given the location, that some passing scally is going to make off with it😂
you are probably right buyt a few years ago we cycled into do Ben Lui and on the way back we saw a couple of dodgy looking chaps checking out the lock on the bikes as we headed back down - they scarpered when they saw us coming which was a little suspicious!! lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
There is a female youtuber who filmed doing cape wrath trail who walked past white bike.... she said what is this bike doing middle of nowhere... wonder if same one? I guess so?
Oh - maybe it was as part of the CW trail does go past this way - which channel was it - would be good to check it out? Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Absolutely brilliant. Your passion for exploring is solid. Moments 35:32 to 35:45 are both impressive and well captured. I want to backpack Scotland for two months straight!! I have backpacked all over the world...but not Scotland or Norway.
Hi Jon - I have same problem on all my hikes tbh - doesn’t matter about the backpack system and apparent air flow in my experience (maybe I just sweat more lol) I just suck it up TBH as going up hill with a pack on is sweaty work :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB M
What a place Murray and that was well documented in your video. Superbos. 👌🏼 Just a tad jealous of your pitch as Kev and I bailed off knowing the weather was to turn during the night. Unrelated, but I can't reply to your comment on my vid, YT has hid it. 🙄
@@ScotlandsMountains I take it you avoided BSB's north spur as you didn't fancy scrambling with a camping pack? I've always wondered what that approach was like. 🤔
Dude! Yes, excellent vid, thanks. I live here, just a few miles from all this so-called wilderness. I'm not sure who coined 'The Great Wilderness' tag, probably the same, er, person who invented the equally so-called north coast 500. However, not to diminish your excellently hard-won Corbetts - yes, they ARE hard, they are far from the road, and the 80% off-piste you talk about is the main feature of walking and backpacking in this fabulous area. The only way to stay on paths is to follow the Munro mountain ridges, or use the Dundonnel and Poolewe tracks in. Otherwise you are usually on your own, with nairy a track in sight. Now, I don't want to rain on your parade, but - the usually cited 'remotest geographical point' is nearer Ruadh Stac Beag, an insignificant mound off the northern flank of its big brother and Munro, Ruadh Stac Mor. You have to cross the gash between Beinn a Chasgein Mhor and the Ruadh Stac side of the bealach. But that is to split hairs. Beinn a Chasgein Mhor is a great place to camp! Miles of flat, really soft ground to pitch on. If you look on the map you'll see a huge area of springs not much more than 50 metres of vertical height down on the NE? shoulder. There is always water here, worth knowing for those of us who love summit pitches. For me BCM is a 4 day/3 night trip, age and other bu---rations preventing me doing your one nighter yomps! You so remind me of my younger self! Thanks for that, I hate you!! Not really, of course. If you are ever in this area again, give me a shout, you would be welcome to stay, although I might not offer to accompany you anywhere, you're too fast, and my endurance ain't what it used to be (-:)~
Really good video. Thanks for posting. Been up that way a few times and will be back again next year starting at Ullapool and moving further and further north. Also hoping to visit Lewis, Harris and maybe even St Kilda. Apart from Old Trafford, Scotland is my favourite place on earth. Lang may yer lum reek 👍
Brilliant to see you back Gaz! midges are absolutely b**tards 😂 Happy to watch any content mate. Do what makes you happy 😌 Stay safe and well mate, Adge
those sunsets were magnificent! No, no too long, although I could see how exhausting it was for you. We in Sydney- Australia are in an 8 week home lockdown! So watching your Vlog was some great relief 👍🏻👍🏻
Thats a great round , did it a few years ago and I think its the most tired I have ever been! I even had to pull over on the A9 for a snooze on the way home !1lol Here is the video from that one if its of interest - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wOnuHMPDdcI.html Take are and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Like a boss💥💥. Takes me back to your paradigm shifting Glen etive summer summit camp(a steaming boots job),maybe the food was a good deal better, hope so Murray 👌👍👍
What an amazing video, thanks so much for sharing, have subscribed and looking forward to viewing your other films. The landscape photographs were really special. Best wishes, from East Lothian.
Wow!! What a life well lived and stupendous dedication. My hero is Tom Weir and he,d doff his cap to you. I came off the side of dumgoyne hill & earls seat last year and it took 3 hours to get back thru Heather and bogmoss. Phew, so i know how you felt. No wonder the Romans built the Antonine wall.
Thank you for sharing your adventures for those of us who will never be able to do them. I absolutely loved the photos you took on the top of the mountain. Do you sell them anywhere? Would be REALLY interested in purchasing the two you took.....
Top job, Murray 👍 Cracking vlog of a cracking walk and a stunning part of the world. I miss the Highlands badly and need to get back up there with my big pack on 😊 ATB. Elton.
Wow. Stumbled across this. What a great walk, scenery and footage. Do you have a kit list? Really like the look of the tent and couldn't see the manufacturer. Cheers
Stunning video ! Personally, would have preferred not to have music accompanying some of those shots though, some things are better in silence. Not a criticism just food for thought for future perhaps.
If was an absolute pleasure to watch, you have such a charming way of presenting you great adventures. We'll be on Skye in September and are looking forward to enjoy the scenery on our moderate walks from our cottage. You've given us loads of inspiration like you do with your other videos as well.
Another spectacular video. I thought the video length, I'm glad that you didn't split it up. Personally stayed captivates all the way through. Gotta ask what food it is you are eating for dinner at 10 pm
Great video! I watched it from beginning to end. You've got me inspired to head up to the great wilderness, next summer it's definitely on thanks very much 👍
Came across your channel and was moved by the outstanding video and narrative. It brought back some of the happiest hillwalking-memories way back in the late 70’s when my wife and I spent holidays in the area. I remember how overwhelmed and humbled we were by the beauty, by the vistas, by nature. It brought happy tears to our eyes. Thank you very much for sharing this video!
Thank you :) welcome to the channel and hope you enjoy the videos - great to hear that the videos can bring back some memories :) much appreciated Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Just returned from Stac Polleigh and Suilven last weekend...phenomenal sunset and sunrise on our wild camp. Done Torridon and agreed its the real deal 🥾⛰🥾⛰ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6ex3HFB9zPc.html
Well done. It is a super place to be. I managed to do the Fisherfield 6 last August and I want to go back for the corbetts. So your video was brilliant and no it wasnt too long.
Another awesome high-quality video that wouldn't look out of place on the telly. In my danders decades ago I always carried 2 litres of water. Water's heavy, no doubt.
That hour passed by so quickly. You succeed in bringing us that great sense of excitement exploring the great Scottish mountains and wilderness that so many of us are not able to to do. Love your relaxed style and have to say the standard of the camera work, photography and editing is outstanding. You clearly put your heart and soul into this and I for one am very grateful. Thanks!
You left your bike in the middle of nowhere, if I did that I would find the only nomadic bike thief in Scotland and my bike would be gone, even if it never happened I would be thinking it would the whole time I was walking
This if my first time watching this it was as if the glen was calling me this might sound a bit strange but looking at the view I was saying to my self if I died there I would die happy I’m from london my mother was born in Scotland and moved to london when she was 3years old her grandfather was a leard o the manor sadly she never got her land and now anybody who could have traced her ancestry is gone now and I have always wanted to have a kilt but don’t know what tartan I can wear
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this adventure. This is one of the best documented mountain trips I have ever seen. Kudos to you, I don't know how you manage to climb these hills with the big pack, let alone professionally film in the process. Can't wait for the next 😬
Just finished wstching this fantastic film yes film is was a great start to my day i love walking its my medicine that sunset come out the blue but was great
As a disabled person I can’t get to these remote places, but after watching your great video I felt like I was there in these mountains, Thanks very much, you have a new subscriber.
I’ve watched a lot of similar American videos and wanted to visit their national parks etc but seeing this - I have such beauty within my own country! I haven’t been to Scotland since 1988, it’s time I returned ( although I’m not up to this sort of hike!) Thank you for sharing the spectacular sunset. My heart is full!
Major Thanks from the other side of the pond. Outrageously grand content, what a ride. thank You for taking us along and blessings your way from Oregon. ... Mike.
This time you exceeded even the high standard of your earlier videos! Absolutely fantastic! Even more impressing since you did everything about this one hour video by yourself. Imagine the staff and financing that would be used for a "regular" movie of this length.
When you go and start packing your camping bag straight after watching a video, you know it was a good one. What an amazing adventure! truly stunning footage and such an engaging video. looking forward to the next!
