We have always wanted to drive historic Route 66 and we finally did it. We decided that just driving Route 66 in our Jeep and staying in hotels the whole way was not going to be enough so we made the decision to camp the entire way out camping and eating only what we could carry in the trunk of the Corvette, which was a challenging exercise in packing, but we did over 5,000 miles! Episode 3 includes travel through New Mexico and Arizona.

Thanks for riding along. No ticket but a friendly nod from a NM trooper to back off just a bit!

The Arizona sidewinder was interesting, lol, funny pedestrians, haha. Loved this series and so glad you guys are out and about enjoying these epic summer overland trips. I really am digging this series. Thanks for the tour!

The Sidewinder was a really great part of the drive after going along so much flat and straight road. The scenery was ever changing which is one of the greatest parts of the trip, but the road was pretty straight!

Oh yes, Civil War went west big time with the development of the railroad expansion, as well as many other reasons. Nice camping like this. That car lot of old looking cars might have been worth getting footage of???? Never know what one might see traveling like this. No sidewinder roads for me. Fun vid!

Definitely a journey full of discoveries for us. Fun to learn as you travel. And so much to see we could have taken twice as long and still missed stuff!

Great video! I would have wanted to stop at some of those shops, Julie couldn't couldn't talk you into it.

That is one of the items we would do differently next time-add more time to the trip so we could stop in more of the spots. Would be easier if we were doing hotels/motels I think.

Uh oh, did you forget Winona?😁 This part is very familiar to me, Dick! Lived in Flagstaff for 20 years, own dirt in Winslow, and you're headed to where I grew up, SoCal. Awesome trip!!!👍🍻

There really were so many neat places along the way and such a history of the southwest written by wagon/cattle routes, railroads and highways. The fragile booms and busts so connected to the transportation. I am a very big fan of Flagstaff, I think it is a great area. We swung up to see my nephew Kyle in San Luis Obispo on the way home-such an awesome area.
