I picked up a British army 24 hour MRE and rather than eat it at home I thought I'd give it a proper field test. so I packed a bag and went camping. #wildcampinguk #mre #britisharmyfood
That made me chuckle when the creamer plonked out and into the cup. Then your face made me laugh more 😂 I do like army rat packs. Nice and convenient and they bung me up so I don't have to 'go' in the woods, if you catch my drift. The muesli breakfasts I like cold. Anyway, good to hear your thoughts and humour, Dan.
Given that you’re a professional cook or chef and camp a ton, maybe give dehydrating or freeze drying your own meals a crack. Those freeze dryers so damn expensive though
Flameless heater similar to the US MRE cooker comes with the 12hr Ration Pack that is issued. It's ok but you can't make a brew with the water you had to the heater to activate it. You get the Dragon Stove and fuel issued separately to cook the 24hr Operational Ration Pack.
i was waiting for heater to explode the bag if you had put something heavier on it it would have gone bang little trick with them thats funny is pour 4 into watebottel 1/4 inch water shake it up and throw it at the Americans makes big bang this old military stuff but its fun watch yanks diving for cover
No Rolos, Shah's (Mars) Bars, or Yorkie Bars? I'm surprised. Those matches are useless, not like the original lifeboat matches at all. Supplied, like everything, by the cheapest bidder I expect. Rat packs back in the day, bunged you up, that's probably why there's very little toilet paper. You're not going to need it! The top brass don't want half the battalion away off sh!tting when you need them to be shooting. To be fair, I've tried most of the available rat packs over the years, and they're OK for what they're designed to do. They're not gourmet by any means. They're simply palatable fuel. Theyre certainly a lot lighter than the tinned compo we used to lug around. Thanks for the video review.
Honestly this is the first video you've ever made involving food that didn't make me hungry.( Your Burgers have been mouthwatering and you are the one that got me to go out and buy Mountain House breakfast Skillets I have a couple tubs of them now) I'm not going to say that those two meal looked disgusting, I will just be polite and say unappetizing. Are you sure those were Turtle beans and not Turtle balls? What do you mean you won't talk with a funny accent? Your accent definitely sounds funny to me, when you speak American, it doesn't sound like a Midwestern accent or a Southern accent or a New England or Bostonian accent so because of this I guess the only way I could describe it is funny, I've noticed that you guys across the pond say Al U MINIOM, we say aluminum, you guys say VIT AMENS we say vitamins, we say tomatoes and you guys say TOE MATOS, we say schedule and you guys say SHEED U WAL. Sure sounds funny to me!(LOL)Sorry I couldn't resist! Because both of our leaders have screwed up the economy, with inflation, the 10 pound, challenge isn't feasible, so one day try a hundred pound 48 hours challenge, buying products from Amazon or Walmart or whatever equivalent you guys have! Oh by the way to answer your question what are biscuit Browns, those are biscuits that I make, the American Army found them distasteful so i had to pawn them off to the British Army ,again couldn't resist.P.S, don't miss the Acolyte next month!✌️
love that comment, thank you : ) I went to do some scouting for a £10.00 challenge recently and it would definitely need to be a £20.00 challenge! very much on board for the Acolyte!
Put your jam on your biscuits brown. Add your chocolate powder to the muesli and heat. The secret with rat packs is working out the combinations that work.
I guess if you're in the military anything will suffice at least its packing for the body. Some of those drinks take your breath away literally. Your lunch stop was a great area remember it from a previous vlog. Bushyboy Oz.
I have only hand some MRE's from the USA. I personally think they are a great idea. In a survival situation, especially. They need to be calorically dense. Thanks for the video
Great camp video and MRE 24 hours what was the worts meal from the pack I'm going for a night solo camp I'm taking a 24hours MRE NUMBER 7 next Friday back next Sunday cheers Dan that was absolutely amazing video !
In the canned era, same strip out what you'll eat trade shitcan left overs. Then it became, go spend a fiver on food per day. Leave the rat packs behind unopened, sell them for 40 to civvies lol. If your govt issued it, rest assured the cheapest bid won and its crud. I get you interest in it though. I sometimes go img look at this it looks so bad I should try it to see how shite it is. Closest i go to that mostly is dehydrated mash and peas. I take fresh carrot an onion a tiny container of flour and a steak. Steak mash 2 veg gravy. Even in summer frozen in a Dixie wrapped in a bar runner you can do 2 day hike in 38c and it's not gone off by day 2.
They are good just heavy to carry but at least know you have everything ive also tried usa mre which are lighter and smaller but haven't got loads in like uk
Not a fan of pre packaged, vacuum packed, dehydrated or freeze dried survival or backpacking meals because of the preservatives and excessive sugar, I would think for the most part these MRE military issue are in the same category. Dan old buddy, you're a real "trooper" for doing this so we don't have to, thanks👍👍
