Visiting a tiny piece of Italy that is detached from the rest of the country and is located in southern Switzerland.
Though it is just a few kilometers from the rest of Italy, and the part of Switzerland that surrounds it is also Italian-speaking, it is nonetheless a part of Italy and not Switzerland.
A small town of roughly 2,000 people, Campione d'Italia feels like you're basically still in the Italian-speaking Swiss canton of Ticino, or in another town in northern Italy's Lombardy region, of which this is officially a part of anyway. It sits along the picturesque Lake Lugano, with a beautiful mountain landscape.
