As a Taiwanese ant keeper, these ants are relatively common in Taiwan, but are really beautiful indeed. Instead of feeding insects, I usually feed them steamed shrimp, which they also enjoy a lot! 😊
I was hoping someone from Taiwan would reply! Do you know by any chance how big these colonies can get? I tried feeding my ants fish before, but the stench was terrible.. Thanks for watching and commenting ❤
@@CamponicoAnts I agree fish can be terrible, I saw someone put shrimp, fish and honey together to make a special juice for ants. It's easier to clean and ants love that! I heard from friends that the colony could have 5000 workers in a mature state. Thanks for producing the video, this is really nice!
Those larger larvae are used to store food, and will not be pupate into adults. To prevent this, you’ll need to feed them more. I’m from Taiwan and I’ve kept this species numerous times.
I will increase their proteine intake. I never knew they kept larvae at that stage to use them as a food storage. They are eating a LOT already, but will deffinatly increase their intake! Thanks for commenting ❤
How big is your colony now? I'm thinking of buying these ants, but I don't know what size colonies they grow to. Some people say up to 100, 200 or even 5000, which of these is true?
The colony is no longer in my possession. I've spoken with locals before, and they mentioned that this colony can grow I to thousands! I believe the comment is somewhere on this video! Absolutely worth getting a colony/queen! Not as intense as nicobarensis, but a lot more classy!
