Excellent video Frazier! I have made the mistake of assuming a place was a certain way, and then discovering later that my first impression had been in error. It's a human trait that we all share at times. The important thing is that we overcome our initial assessment and discover the true nature of the place. I expect this will be on your short list of places to camp going forward. It's great how you solved the tent stake out with the concrete area. Very smart, and helpful. Thanks again for your post.

Thanks mrbr and thanks again for your long time support. Yes, I missed an opportunity to enjoy this camping destination when I was younger and more active. Take care.

Great campground, the lake is a plus. Love it, tent camping in a RV space. Your camping setup is top notch, and the food always sounds, and looks delicious. I enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for sharing. Take care, Eva D, and Frazier D. Friends... 🇺🇲

Thanks Jason. You ha be been a good friend and supporter for a long time. I really appreciate your support. Do you have any national forest campgrounds with paver RV pads like this near your home? They are common here in the southeast. I avoided them most of my life but now I feel more comfortable setting up camp in them. Take care.

Looks like an awsome place my friend. May put it on my list for a future trip.

Hello there, I wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how much I enjoy your camping videos. I especially like Ava’s cooking (maybe minus the jalepenos 😂) and I appreciate you circling and showing in your videos your favorite camp sites. It’s very helpful for our planning. Sometimes, you never know what kind of site you are going to get until you’re there! We are just outside of Birmingham in Moody, AL and we like camping somewhat close to home. I look forward to more videos from you as our summer season takes off! Happy Camping - Shane and Molly

Shane & Molly, Thank you for your very kind note. Eva cooks great-tasting Mexican food and I wish we had more cooking videos but they are very hard for me to make. Typically, I take several weeks to make a video and need the time to compose my narrative and take the photos and videos. But a cooking video typically must be done all at one time and if you miss a photo, it’s too late to go back. Currently, I’m working on a video about camp tables. Don’t know how many more campground videos I can make. I’m 78 years old and my legs are failing me. It’s very hard to drive far away from home or stand long enough to set up camp. But I plan to keep making videos. Maybe, we’ll devise a way to do more cooking videos. Thanks again. It’s so nice to hear that my videos are appreciated. Take care.

Is this your last camping trip for the season? I have one this coming weekend in the Sam Houston National Forest and another in a few weeks near Austin before it starts getting too cold, testing my new Coleman Some 6-person with vestibule tent on both trips for 1-2 people easily. The tent vestibule can be used for cooking in the rain, escaping bugs, and nighttime toilet needs. I have an easy up, but only used it once. For just me (and my husband on occasion), a tarp over the picnic table serves well on most occasions. The first trip will be with my husband, the second solo to make sure I can do it solo far from home. It’s the tent I plan on using at Interlochen next summer for a little over a week for my chamber music camp. No more bike-packing this season for me. I’m not set up for 4 season camping in the Gulf Coast. Next spring I’m looking forward to exploring other semi-close campgrounds in my area, as well as a few more “far from home” sites up north. I’m also starting to plan my 2-day/60 mile bike packing trip. It will de dependent now on my physical fitness and hopefully a companion. I’m riding 10+ miles just about every weekend to prep.

Wow Mendy, you sure stay active. I’m impressed by both your Outdoor adventure spirit and your musical talents. Are you also employed? Yes, that will be our last trip of the year and possibly the last of my life. Setting up camp and breaking down was very hard. I had to stop and rest several times before we could finish. The next two days, my leg muscles were so weak and sore, I could hardly move. Texas has some nice state parks. I’ve spent about a year of my life in Texas (military) and camped in about 5 different places. The extended camping season is nice but the snakes and alligators are a downside. Thanks for the note and continued support. Good luck.

Goes to show, it’s probably worth taking a drive to check out places you’ve skipped cause you could be missing out.

Clear Creek trumps Corinth. We enjoy both but have come to enjoy it better. Clear Creek stays full most of camping season but if you plan or just keep checking you can get a site there. When we go to Corinth we always use the tent camp sites.

We’ve been to both campgrounds also. And we also liked Clear Creek but it is further away from our home. We use to camp in walk-in sites but I’m 77 now and have difficulty carrying gear very far. What do you like best about Clear Creek? Thanks for posting this note. Happy New Year.

@@moderntentcampingfor some reason I like the sites at Clear Creek better. it has better hiking trails and a much better swimming area. We always reserve in Bear loop which until a couple years ago was tent and pop up only and was cheaper. Now they put RV's there and charge the same for all sites. I agree it is farther by about 25 minutes.

Do you not have to prebook a specific site in advance? Are walk ins normally allowed? I have always booked through ReserveAmerica website which lets you see a map and select but sometimes found that some of the sites were not optimal.
@moderntentcamping

It’s always a good idea to reserve a campsite ahead of time if you can - and May be necessary in the most popular campgrounds. But many campgrounds still accept walk up campers and a few campgrounds only accept walk-ups. To select a good campsite ahead of your visit, study the campground map and watch videos on that campground. This will usually help you pick an acceptable site if they are available. Good luck.
