I just downloaded the update to the 2022 version and wow - there are improvements that are not even documented. I used to have all kinds of trouble with audio because of my microphone (USB mic), but in this version it's fixed - but not only is it fixed, the sound is absolutely amazing, flawless in every way! I have gone from mildly disappointed to one happy TechSmith junkie! By the way Steve I must say this video expose is so well done - you try to make it look like you're a bit of a newbie, but you can't fox us, it's clear that you are a real pro at this video creation and editing malarky!
Absolutely love your videos! They are so informative and well planned. I have to say my favorite feature by far is what they did in advancing Audiate with Camtasia to encompass the video track. I have been subscribing to it ($30 a month is way too much in my opinion, but with this new feature it does make it a little nicer to say the least), and said what they need to do is exactly what they did on this version, 2022 of Camtasia. They have packed it full of way better features. A feature I would love to see is an easy way of drawing a circle around the talking head where you don’t need to use any type of mask or smoke and mirrors. I can’t believe they don’t have that yet. Thank you again for another excellent video and I am looking forward to others that showcase the new features of camTasia. Cheers.
Hi Steve. I remember you when you were on public television in late 90's (could have been early Y2K also) (wow). You had no grey hairs back then lol. But you have aged gracefully. Glad to see you on the net-tube now. Cheers.
Terrific video, Steve. I'm a long time-user of Camtasia as well as Premiere Pro. Looks like I can now do things in Camtasia that I previously could only accomplish in Premiere Pro. Looking forward to this new upgrade! Thanks very much!
I use Camtasia and Descript. Descript is a text-based editor for video also. There are use cases where it can work well and is similar to Audiate but I think more features. However, you will not get the tighter integration.
Where have you been, sir? No new videos since a few months. Hope you are well and rocking on. Miss your new videos in your baritone voice. Do come back soon. Take care and rock on.
Thank you for this. I must say that after using 2022 for a couple of weeks I have reverted back to 2021. There are some very strange quirks around cropping and the new export window is made by an opthalmologist looking to gain new customers. The new libraries is interesting and so is the text-centric editing but there are much faster workflows for the latter kind of work.
Very good........we love Camtasia............we record live shots of stuff at different times of the day....would be nice it the Techsmith folks might build in a TIMER, whereby you could set a timer to begin recording or end recording a specific times of the day,,,cannot always be there to manual turn on or off...make sense??
For a beginner it sounds a little pricey trying to purchase Camatasia and Audiate annual fee ! Love the usability and the amount of good stuff you can do
Hello. Camtasia well capturing the desktop computer? In what format is the video recorded? - mpeg similar codec? To edit in text mode is very interesting editor Descript. It can reproduce a pre-printed piece of text with a voice similar to the one being edited.
I really enjoyed and learned from this lesson. Thank you. Question... Is there a lesson on creating and importing captions from an exported Audiate file? Or is there a better/easier way to do captions?
Hi Steve . I missed the Wednesday session I registered for yesterday on google apps. Is there any way to get the replay for the webinar? Or do yu not have replays for the Wednesday sessions? Thanks
The Camtasia/ Audiate combo has already been rendered obsolete by Descript. Camtasia is only worth using if you’re an educator i.e you need call-out boxes and other on-screen features for teaching. For everyone else, Descript is far superior and has been designed from the ground up for content creators who want to edit video and audio like text.
Can you do a training that keeps students from moving forward in the class before the current lesion/chapter is done (drip) as well as pass test to move forward. Many training require we have to show they complete the time of the class so we need to have them hit next to move from slide to slide? Thanks fo your time Carla for Califorina
Great video of what really sounds like a swiss army knife for screen capture and video editing. I just want to get started with doing some educational videos of a photo editing software, so I am looking for a software that will do the job easily. I want to be able to edit the video and also sometimes blend in a stream from my webcam. I think Audiate is a really great piece of software, but the annual subscription is way too much cost for me (does it even work with other languages except for English?). Would you say that Camtasia is a good choice for that, although I will not use Audiate because of it's cost? Or would a combination of e.g. Snagit and Adobe Premiere Elements will do the same for a fraction of the cost? Also, why would you buy both Snagit and Camtasia as is offered as a bundle on their website? Does Camtasia not do all that Snagit does and much more? I would really appreciate your answer to these questions a lot, Sir!
Hi Steve, as I'm watching this, Descript comes to mind. it seems at a glance that they are the same sort of tool. Are there many or any significant differences between the two?
There is a big difference, On the surface that may seem similar based on text video editing, But Camtasia is designed for editing screencast videos and has many features essential to that process
We upload our camtasia videos to screencast, and currently load HTML files into our website,,,,,,,,,,,,would we increase web speed by simply uploading to local MP4 file and uploading a MP4 file to website?? any suggestions appreciated..
👍🏻Thanks for a great review and if I decide to upgrade I'll do so through your link in recognition of your effort. 🤔One thing I did note is the weird use of ":" and ";" in the timer demo at 16:53. Why on earth did Techsmith decide to use a ";" in between the numbers instead of ":" ... or maybe it's just me that finds that strange 😏 And if it isn't just me, is it possible to change the ; to a : instead? Cheers
Yeah. When do you think they're going to give us what it needs most -- a better color adjuster? I would give up all these new features for easier color adjustment. After all these years?? But Final Cut Pro as a whole was coded by idiots who tried to make it as complicated as possible. It would take me two more years of lessons to master it. No thanks. The editor of The Godfather stopped using FCP. I'll stick with Camtasia. Nice video, Steve.
Is this strictly PC based or is this a website, AND do you happen to know if this works well with screen reading software for the visually impaired- such as VoiceOver for Apple and IOS devices?? I learned Premiere years back, but glaucoma has kicked my backside so i now use VoiceOver to confirm what I can’t quite see clearly anymore. This really does sound interesting!
Making money is an art, you can only make money if you practice and master the art..... by the way I enjoyed watching your videos. a fellow creator.....,

Thanks a lot for this precious informative video. Which screen recording software you usually use for your RU-vid tutorial videos? What is your opinion about FlashBack Pro screen recorder?
I really like Steve, but I believe that he has abandoned this Dottotech channel. He hasn't created a video in over a year. Oh, well. At least he could have given a reason, instead of leaving everyone hanging.
HELLO "dottotech"! HOPE YOU ARE DOING GOOD, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. With ref to your channel I extremely insist please convey my message to CAMTASIA TEAM, THAT PLEASE INTRODUCE OR LAUNCH "TEXT STROKE EFFECT" IN UPCOMING VERSION OF CAMTASIA 2022. WHICH IS HIGHLY DESIRED FEATURE OF ANY VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE...WHY CAMTASIA IGNORING OR FAILING TO launch "TEXT STROKE EFFECT"... With due respect once more I request to you please insist camtasia team to build up a "TEXT STROKE EFFECT" FEATURE IN UPCOMING VERSION OF CAMTASIA...
I look forward to the day, when the text-based editing “understands” danish. I dream of text-based editing of both video and audio - but all my videos and audio-files are in danish. I would love to use Audiate 🇩🇰👍😃
Rarely? I guess it depends on the type of video you create, if you are editing cinematic video, perhaps, for screencasting and tutorial videos is is almost ALWAYS the case. I stated off the top of the video that this was from a tutorial video perspective.
Great video Steve. I would be more likely to try the text based editing if it wasn't a monthly subscription. I just can't justify paying that much! It does seem like a time saver and would be interesting to use but I will just keep the old processes going. I like the new assets but what I don't like is that you can't adjust the timing. I have quickly ran into issues where it's not on the screen long enough and I can't make it stay longer. I like that you can adjust colors, text, etc. but timing is critical on a lot of the functionality and I wish they would have compensated for that. Thanks for another fantastic video.
I do appreciate their significantly extended, included library. But you don't mention the incredible cost of Audiate, which makes it an irrelevance for those of us who - though we would like it - only use Camtasia maybe once a month. Audiate requires a subscription, which is the same cost each year as a brand-spanking new copy of Camtasia. It's just crazy. Just to give a GB£ example, let's say you spend 50 hours a year making videos, 20% of that is audio editing, and Audiate saves 80% of that time. So you're actually saving 1 day's work and it costs £290. Your daily rate would have to be pretty racy to even get commercial payback. And that's supposing fixed-price contract, your diary was full and there was no learning curve.
