Being "branded" with tattoos while using the word of God doesn't make you a better Christian or draws you closer. In my opinion like you gave yours in this video, you wanna draw closer to God and show that you've been branded by him, it's by showing his love, doing his work and being a living testimony not a drawn one. God isn't moved by our tattoos but by our actions on how we live our lives as born again Christians. I think this will cause more confusion to those uncertain of this topic because it's your interpretation of the Bible. We view things the way they're convenient to us as it's our human nature to justify what we shouldn't be doing.

Stephanie Lozada I would be terrified to say what does and does not move my God!!! I have extremely worshipful tattoos, they remind to move toward Him every time I see them. You might wanna season this post with a little bit of humility... as I’m not entirely sure it’s even accurate.

I liked what you said about idolatry. And I think there are tattoos that can honor God. But I also think that we have to be careful when considering if getting a tattoo will honor God. There are cases in which having a tattoo could be a hinderance to following God's plan for your future, especially if you don't put it in a place that can be covered if necessary. Then, it would be selfish decision to bring attention to yourself. I just encourage those that want to make this decision to do what you said: ask what will bring the most glory to God
Absolutely! My tattoos are 90% Spiritual or faith inspired and I can use them to share various aspects of the gospel. I love it. I have a video that shares this symbolism.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Jon. Thank you for saying the word "context". Far too many people take Scripture out of context and form a personal theology on that. WRONG!!!!! I have two tattoos. The first tattoo I got after I had an identity crisis which led me into a very dark place. The Holy Spirit affirmed my identity in Christ and I had a new coat of arms designed based on the prophetic words I had been given over the course my life. I then had that tattooed on my left shoulder. The second one is my wife's name and our wedding date, which is on my left wrist - this isn't because I idolise my wife, but rather because I hold to the permanent institution of marriage and that my wife is my team mate, my other whole, and together we make God-glorifying decisions that will extend the Kingdom of God and His renown.

My tattoos all have Christian meaning behind them. My first was a prayer when I was young. It's a poke and stick of a small cross. Most of my sleeve has religious significance behind it and I've actually had many chances to share it to non-believers. My tattoo artist throughout the year he was working on me actually began sanding off his 666 tattoo simply because he felt like it was wrong and he said that he liked having conversations that were different. There were a couple other Christians with lots of tattoos at that time. I have been wanting to get a couple tattoos (a cross and the Hebrew word "zakar" -- "remember", and a scale with head and heart on each side, and flowers), but I was raised by Christian parents who believe all tattoos are sinful and evil, period. I really want to have that meaningful, God-centric art on my body, but I was feeling really anxious about whether my parents were right. Your video was so funny and so light-hearted, even before we got into the meat of the matter you had calmed my worries and helped me relax. Thank you for that. Good video. There are alot of arguments on this topic. I'm of the view that Christians shouldnt have tattoos, especially after knowing Christ (it's different if it was in your past). However, your explanation is really thorough and biblical. Makes perfect sense. God cannot be put in a box. You know......that time period where God told the Israelites or those that followed him not to learn the ways of the heathen. I used to say "I would have tattoos all over me if I wasn't a Christian"..... THEN (dramatic music) I got a tattoo (making me sound like a hypocrite). BUT I want people to know that I did not just get a tattoo on an impulse but I thought about it, prayed about it, asked others about it (believers and nonbelievers), and I ultimately wanted to seek out GOD in it all before I got anything done. One thing that really stuck out to me was the verse that Jon talked about in Leviticus- about not marking your bodies FOR THE DEAD ( I also read an article that really helped my decision). I also realized that the main thing holding me back was people (mostly the church)-- "what would they think?" "Would they judge me?" "Would I be called a hypocrite?". All in all, I got to the conclusion that it is a personal conviction that needs to be between you and GOD.

Inga yes, unfortunately we often worry more about what people will think rather than God and our personal relationship to Him. Our outside will all but disappear one day, this outer shell is temporary, it’s my heart & my soul that matter to God. If getting a tattoo of my God and who He is to me is wrong, well, I’m willing to let God be the judge of that. I believe God is more worried about the words that come out of our mouth more than what is on are temporary shell. Can’t wait to get my tattoo.😊💕Glory to my God!! Praise His Holy Name forever.
That's how I've tried to explain my decision in getting the cross tattoo that is in my forearm: I wanted a permanent, outward symbol of my faith and who I belong to, as well as a constant reminder of all that He has done for me, will do for me, and what I should and want to do for Him. And the forget-me-nots that surround it are a reminder to always remember the Lord,my God because there was a dark time in my life where I abandoned God and did not fully return to Him for six years, and without a doubt I can say that has been the worst thing that I've ever experienced. And thanks for putting tattooing into the perspective of potential idolatry; I'm going to keep that in mind before getting any more.
i've seen both good and bad people with tattoos. i've seen both good and bad people without tattoos. so i don't think God would send someone into eternal damnation simply because of superficial markings on the skin. but if i were to say is it allowed or not for Christians to have them, i dont know. all i know is that having no tattoo makes your appearance cleaner and more tidy, so you will be able to please the general public more, thus making it more conducive for expressing your faith and representing our Lord. but then again my youth leader has tribal themed tattoos on his arms, yet he is the friendliest and most approachable man in our church, making positive changes to many of our youths. so will his good deeds be cancelled out by God because of his tattoos? my personal conclusion is that it's not wrong to have tattoos, as long as you are willing to accept (and if possible, change) the social stigma that comes along with it. personally, i wont get a tattoo because God blessed me with a nerdy look, so having a tattoo will only make me look like i'm trying too hard to be cool. so yeah, there's that.

Did you watch the video? And tattoos can help your ministry with many groups and usually they can be covered up if its helpful but its the holy spirit that is doing the work, so if you are filled with the holy spirit and the spirit is moving ahead of you, you tattoos will not stop the Holy Spirit from doing it's work.
I’m kind of undecided in getting a tattoo, I’m Christian and while I’m not perfect I try to be good to ppl and treat them with respect. But I like street art and I wanted to get a couple of tats but they are more of a street culture. Things that are not Holy like hurting your skins with a needle to permanently have a drawing isn't Holy. Isn't glorifying God in any way regardless if you have a tattoo saying I love God. We must walk in the steps of Jesus Christ. Imagine Jesus Christ going to a tattoo parlor getting a tattoo saying I love God.... are you kidding me. Sometimes we have to use our obvious thinking. People are always trying to sugar coat and change Gods word up. 2000 years ago and now Gods word does not change. So no, a true Christian walking with the Holy Spirit should not get a tattoo. And if they were really with Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit will guide them to not do such things if they open their hearts to the Holy Spirit. God is not stupid and his words are straight forward. I myself don't have any tattoos and i'm not really considering any either but I'm curious to hear what you think of modern medicine needles and surgery is needed would this fall into hurting the skin in your mind set One would argue it would what about your common vaccinations? I guess I'm saying to what end? I feel it's more important to have a Close relationship with God first and ask God about if it's a good idea for you if all sines are pointing to yes that is between you and God and no one else it is not for us to judge so ask God is the very best way In my mind but that's what works for me. It's so easy to get caught up in worldly things I'd ask to stay true to your spiritual self. I also believe that a lot of people talk to the outside of their body to get the terrible demons of the passed out by seeing it every day it can help to never go back or to remember who you are now so as I've said to each there own just keep God in the loop. I worry of if it's hurting the body inside? That's one of my fears.

Yup. This video is everything! I have a few tattoos, and I will be getting more ink. I am not defiling my body. I have tattoos that represent certain time periods of my life, and I specifically have Christian tattoos. I will never get a tattoo without considering its impact on my physical and spiritual self.

So a couple nights ago, out of nowhere, I felt the urge to pick up the Bible and The Lord just took me thru many, many enlightening verses, but I'll just share this one: "All things are lawful, but all are not profitable; all things are lawful, but all do not edify." That is MY experience and I am actually tatted but this was wayyy before I encountered Christ, & maybe I wanted to get one assuming I can glorify God, but in reality, would HE considerate honorable? Dad says "Don't eat these cookies after dinner." Kids start analyzing the reasoning behind it. It appears that dad banned eating cookies after dinner because doing so would increase my blood sugar level and keep me from getting a good night's sleep, which is very important because I am a little kid and I need to sleep a lot to grow. Sister goes ahead and eats the cookies because she works night shift and "dinner" for everyone is breakfast for her. Brother also eats the cookies after dinner because he is a college student and needs to stay up late to prepare for finals. Getting good grades would make dad happy and therefore eating cookies after dinner is totally ok for him. In fact, it honored dad because he uploaded a picture of himself eating the cookies on Instagram with "#MydadIsAwesome."

Well said brother. I have tattoos and thought about getting them back when I was 19 to 20. Boy I'm glad I waited til I was 24 to get my first. The ink I wanted back in the day would have been meaningless but I have tattoos now that gove glory to Christ and people who see them see Christ in me with them. Truth About Tattoos you are the first person in my 42 years of getting tattoos to speak what the Holy Spirit has shown me concerning my tatts. I am covered from my neck to my back and chest. Yes yes yes yes! You are 100% on point with this response. I wish I could convey the evil that shrouded my life as a result of the Demonic activity that was taking place as a result of letting men draw blood from my body. I have repented of it and moved on. Filled with the Spirit of God and have vowed to never allow this again. People arguing in favor of getting tattoos really should as this video suggests PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER. God will not condone it ever! It is the flesh that would even cause one to even consider it. It is (as was my case) a cry for attention. But we are all free to do as we wish but be warned it is very much demonic. I already have tattoos, 1 there may be someone in heaven because I had a drawing my kid did tattooed and it sparked a conversation where I could give my testimony and the gospel. 2 probably saved my life, I had gotten in a bad habit of not buckling my seatbelt, I tattooed my kids names in my wrist as a reminder to buckle up, I walked away from a car accident because of seeing that tattoo every day and getting into the habit of buckling up again, as well as giving me several opportunities to Witness
I fully agree. Getting a tattoo is a very serious decision. If our bodies are not our own, we need to be extremely certain that who owns our bodies is OK with us marking it up.

Behind every tattoo, there was first a desire which grew so strong that you actually went and did it. Know this important reality however, from wherever that desire came, it was not God. You want a Bible verse on your body to glorify God? Put that verse in your heart, mind and soul and live according to it, that will glorify God, not some ink on your skin. Ink on your skin only glorifies your own desires which made you to get that tattoo in the first place.

Good perspective. When I see others with a tattoo, I sometimes consider what their reasoning for it was rather than judge them. I respect the ones that are simple reminders to what they have overcome (or in the process of doing so) such as with mental health or eating disorders. I guess in that sense, their marking denounces something that they want to remove from their lives in order to live life better.

What you said is so true. I made the choice for myself to get tattoos, I have three. But in making that choice for myself I said I ould only get meaningful tattoos that bring God glory. I have a cross on my shoulder blade. I have 'still my heart' on my wrist from the song Here Now and I have 'saved by grace' on my forearm over hundreds of scars. I use tattoos as a testimony to where the Lord has brought me.
When I was trying to put the pieces together a couple of years ago, I kept on reading that verse and noticing the "for the dead." But every vid I've seen on this topic hasn't included that detail. It's funny how the Holy Spirit works. And in my version, the NKJV (I think), says "do not pierce your skin" so I'm like "If I can get piercings, than I can get a tattoo, but it'd be a sin to get a tattoo in honor of my dead grandfather..." And then I remembered the verse "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31 And I also find it funny how Christians find it sinful for you to get piercings anywhere else beside your ears, and sinful for a boy to get earrings.
thanks for this video! it is really hard for you to put something out there like this but it has really helped me feel better about my choice!!!! i want to get LOVE tattooed on my wrist because i used to cut and i always feel tempted to do it again but when i write LOVE on my wrist it reminds me that God loves me and doesn't want me to suffer. He just wants to hold me close and never let me go. so i wabt it on my wrist always and forever so i will always be reminded
