Had a cop in Florida tell me he "could confiscate mine if he wanted to". I looked at him and asked what specific penal code was i violating. He didnt answer. He just kept me waiting on the roadside for 20 minutes while he ran my license. He ultimately just sent me on my way. Senseless.

Yeah, but a cop can confiscate anything they want. That's just the nature of the beast. They can make up the reason for the paperwork later.

I usually just carry a simple pad lock tied to the end of a bandana in my back pocket to lock up my front end for theft protection !

My younger brother gave me one of those. Right now, I am between scoots. I keep mine coiled up on the table next to my bed. More than once I picked it up and went outside to see if there was trouble. Next scoot, it goes on it.

loophole! black dragon i have seen these get back wips for a few years and have thought they were cool but did not want to legal trouble. i also have a dog and we have been attacked several times by other dogs not on leashes. while watching this episode i had a revelation, i'm going to make a get back with that goes around my neck like a big necklace charm. where it when i ride my bike and where it when i walk my dog, may not look as cool around my neck versus hanging from my handlebar however it would be quickly accessible as far as for the looks your imagination would be your only limitation. thanks again dude informational video for sure

I RUN A SHORT ONE IN CLUB COLORS THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY CLUB MEMBERS. IT HAS NO METAL OTHER THAN THE CLASP AND I NOT ONLY CLASP IT TO MY BRAKE HANDLE BUT ALSO ZIP TIE IT SO THAT IT IS NOT EASILY REMOVED. IF I NEED A WEAPON FOR SELF-DEFENSE I HAVE OTHER MEANS.

Your poor pup! i hope Braveheart is recovering well. I have ALWAYS wondered about those whips. I can't imagine trying to use them on the road at speed because flailing around would make you lose your balance. They seem like such a bad idea for all the trip/snag/accidental injury reasons alone, I hadn't even thought of them. Good video, good changes to the channel/layout. Keep it up, nice seeing how far you've come!

I make these here in Canada and ias far as I know they are fully legal here. I've made them for a lare amount of the biker community here to match their bike colours, MC or RC colours...I also do mine in paracord and gave the EXACT same reasons as you...bee seen, need rope in an emergency...I also put reflective black on solid black to also be seen at night! I tie em..they fly em. Thanks for the video! Super helpful...Sharinggggg

Great vid,I have a whip with my club colors. And I see you put tape on lever to keep it on.i use a paracord braid on the quick release .looks better. BTW everything is against the law in California other than being illegal alien

In Ventura California its a violation due to a past case law its under the 12020 (a) which i'm familiar with, hell id rather carry my blade and sheath here in cali which is legal but you can still get haggled if in the wrong city who doesnt allow any blade action i.e. Oakland California. My get back was given to me by a brother, not taking it off for anyone. Totalled my bike couple weeks back so still waiting to get back up and running but I took my whip off and took with me. Hope brave heart is doing ok!!

i have seen some use them to shatter windows a lot of the time they are so slick with them they will make it seem like the exhausts shattered the window as they go by rather then the get-back whip

Slug shots go way back as a tool to swing rope on a ship and goes back as an shorter version used as a weapon because it can be hidden easily. It was illegal back in the 19th century as well. It's illegal here in Mass. Though with my license to carry, I might be fine. I am more likely to use that over ever using my gun and more likely to us it against a dog, as you did, then a person. My dogs have always been bigger types known for handling other dogs but I I have a responsibility to protect my dogs, not the other way around so what you have is a nice tool for that. My experience with chucks makes this an easy tool to maneuver. Nice video

BD I live in Arizona. We have constitutional carry no ccw needed here. Your whips would not be a problem here. My question is about the colors. I ride alone 99% of the time. But if I have a red and white whip am I or could I catch shit from another club for having their colors? By the way I ride a Victory as well a 03 Vegas. They are awesome machines. I have seen these whips and like them but was unsure of they're history or what' they represent. Thanks for the video. 👇

When I was going into a coc meeting in Ca the police came up to me and asked me to remove it or go in for felony charges. If they are Zip tied on so you can not remove it you can keep them on.

I've made a few GBW's. I've seen some that other crafters have made without anything in the end. That nylon on its own will make most people back up. I've also known them to be made with the core loaded with BBs like a regular nylon whip. Blessings and keep the rubber side down.

I ride a Victory Kingpin, and my son who is into Paracord has made me a couple whips. This last one he perfected. It's a cylinder braid with a thick top handle and a skull brass nuckel on the bottom. Here in NM I haven't had any issues with law enforcement. I keep it on the left side clutch so I can pull it and ride if necessary. I've scared off a dog in the past, but never had to use it beside that. Looks cool and doesn't hit me or my passenger because of the cylnder braid. Air goes through it nicely. Let me know if you need a new whip, my boys has some skills.

They look handy for getting cars away. Cool upload because i to have wondered about these and the law. Edit: having a quick search on google doesnt give you a definitive answer. Also because there mainly a USA thing, but then it goes on about the history of them in U.K. but legal or not 🤷‍♂️. I mean you can gwt them on amazon so....i guess legal. They shouldnt be illegal anywhere as IMO they are rather pointless, as guns are readily available(unless you live in states like California) If anything as you said this makes you more visible especially if using bright colors, which is a great idea.

As a biker the LEOs consider you guilty until proven guilty & anyone that does something to you is seen as doing a public service. Recently a guy in OK started a fight with a patched 1%er over a gas pump. After getting his ass handed to him, and after the biker rode away, the bully jumped in his cage, chased the biker down and a mile later ran him down (he had to go over 70 mph and run red lights to catch the patch). The patch was very badly hurt and his attacker got a "assault" charge. Not attempted murder, not vehicular or assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault.

I've had a get-back whip on my bike for many years, and never had an issue with the cops --- At least not for the whip. My bike has 16" apes, and I have never had my whip fly back and hit me, or my passenger - it is braided around a heavy nylon rope core. I would not recommend having one on your brake lever.

A friend gave me his Get Back whip because he told me they're illegal in California. I'm not sure though. I didn't check. However, I'm trying to find out if they're illegal in Oregon.

@Blake Ive had mine on my bike for about 4 years and have not been pulled over here in California. I also keep the connection at the right side brake lever, (Guess Im a poser) clipped on with a Zip tie so the quick release will not work, and therefore, if pulled over, I will tell the LE it's for looks only.

Just fyi as a California Native, everything is illegal.. like literally everything, you would get locked up so fast around here if you had those. Most cops absolutely hate or love bikes, usually the former. Also there a lot of 81's here in northern CA, and I wouldn't want to attract their attention either for obvious reasons.

Back in the 60s & 70s these weren't available... We just wore a Sporster Primary Chain with a quick release buckle. A flick of a wrist will take out a windshield (ask me how I know)...!

I live in Connecticut and if you actually read Connecticut law you cannot have a slung shot . Sandbag.. or any other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument! But I carry is a bandana strung through a heavy padlock and placed in my back pocket with the bandana hanging out.... I can grab the bandana and swing the padlock if attacked by man or beast... If pulled over I can pull out the bandana by one end and it will slide out of the padlock leaving the padlock in my back pocket.... Padlock can be used for securing the bike... So this is a excellent way to circumvent the law... It would be very hard for a Leo to prove that the bandana was attached to the padlock once you Yank the bandana out of your back pocket perhaps wipe off your brow

I was pulled over today in Laguna Beach California. The officer was highly escalated. He was very interested in my club. Asking several questions. He said that he pulled me over because my pipes were too loud. My exaughst is the least loud in our group, and none of us were making excessive noise. He had me start my bike and twist the throttle 3/4 so he could hear my exaughst. There were plenty of other bikers making the noise (not flying) with no problems. We were riding 6 deep. I was in the back, so pulled over first. We literally just turned on to the PCH. Bad idea in Colors. The police really don't want you there, and will pull you over for any reason. I know they think that we are trouble even though we are not. Anyway, the officer did ask about my "get back whips," which are not weighted in the ends except for the attaching clip at the top. He suggested that they "might" be illegal, but did not sight me for them or ask me to remove them. They do represent my club Colors. They do not have a permanent attachment. They are easily removed. "Get back whips" are not inherently illegal unless you turn them into a "Slung Shot" by putting any kind of weight in the ends, or using them as a weapon. If you do, it better be provable self defense. Either way expect to go to jail for the night. He did say that the clip could be construed as weighted. A zip or tie or two would resolve that issue. I did get a ticket for my exaughst though. I was cordial and respectful which went a long way. Bottom line, wearing Colors will get you pulled over for any reason they can come up with in some areas. Mostly the beach towns. Be professional. Be nonconfrontational. Especially now during the COVID-19 shut down. Law enforcement doesn’t have as much to do, so we are even bigger targets for them. I know I have rights. I also know that some officers would just assume arrest you and let you take up your issues in court a few days later. No skin off their ass. I've been riding in Cali for 5 years. This is the first time I've ever been pulled over. If you have reasons to be concerned about law enforcement, don't give them a reason to pull you over. If you're flying Colors, they more than likely will find a reason especially in the small beach towns. Hope this helps, Monty

Always like the looks of the get back whips but never wanted one do to the having to deal with it while riding. The look neat but I feel safer without.

I always heard they exist for the purpose of chipping the windshield of cars that start to veer into your lane. But of course, most people only ever use them as a decoration. Personally, I think they just create hazards for riders, and the pretty doesn't justify it. But to each their own.

I put some rubber grommets on the clip to it can go all the out by the little ball at the end of the clutch lever and not slide off (dropped a few lol) I don’t like it on the brake side But on the clutch side if it’s not slid allll the way just right u can’t pull the clutch in all the way. Which isn’t the end of the world as long as u aren’t getting into the friction zone. They catch the eye soooooo well. So they do help And look so damn cool flying in the air

I read in the 70s a CO field major got arrested over a whippin. So? All the COs got like 12 ft. reigns 🙄.

I have been flying a whip on my Road Glide for at least 10 years...I live in NorCal...I have had 100's of cops that have seen me ride down the highway, backroads, at runs, etc. I have never been hassled about the whip on my bike...all throughout Cali and many other States...I don't believe many cops even realize the definition of slung shot ...actually a dog leash, horse lunge line, etc fits the definition.

Personally I see no use for them decoratively or defensively .Having something hanging off of handlebars could prove to be hazardous to your health if someone gave it a yank while you were riding.Im not saying go out there naked but there's stuff you can carry and keep it out of site .Brass knuckles that cut not lump up,two ounces of lead at the end of your wallet chain,maybe a flare gun somebody messes with you light em up,an emergency hammer with glass breaking point.If you need to use any thing you carry don't use it while riding follow your problem when they park and disappear that when you go tap tap tap tap tap and then ride away Remember while riding they can use that car to run you off the road and trust me they won't care if your dead or alive afterwards so why should you care about the windows in thier car

Question, really didn't see a good topic to leave this on but here we go. From what I've heard most clubs make you wait a year before going from one M/C to another. What about someone going from a S/C to a M/C. Is there a waiting period or is this up to the club?

There is no waiting period if you are stepping up levels (from S/C to M/C) because that's not considered club hopping. Folks also don't have to wait if both Presidents approve the move.

Arnell Irons going from one MC to another, Can be ok it just depends on what way your going, Meaning if your going from a non 1% 3 piece patch club to the dominant 1% that would be ok Now the club your leaving might try to say your “out bad” just cause your leaving them and they want to try and stop it but they don’t have a leg to stand on cause the 1% club don’t care if a non 1% club has a member out bad, as long as your not out bad for stealing money from a brother or the club or fuckin a members OL Lady, You can go from a 1% clubs support club up to the 1% club, But going from a 1%er down to another club or any other club just maybe a BAD move It would probably be on a case by case basis
