Great vid. I admit, it’s odd to me to see people struggle to line up properly and shoot straight. Most people like that, I find, didn’t start playing pool until later in life. I started playing at 7 or 8 after my dad bought a table for my older brother. So much easier to learn basic fundamentals when young. You figure it out instinctively, like learning a language when young. Mind you, later on in life I continued to calibrate my stance and bridge. It’s never ending. But it really does help with any endeavor to start young if possible.

I was trying to take his advice for the stance and I don’t understand what he meant. I’m having trouble with my stance because it’s a key part of alignment but idk what to do to fix it

Lozs hip was getting in the way of his cue delivery, Jay widened his right leg out to give a lean, so he can deliver the cue in a straight line. Jay was saying look at the line of shot, cue on belly button then step either side of cue. Try it and let me know!

Great video. I have never been a fan of Jason Shaw - just didn't like him. But after seeing this video, and a couple of others, he seems like a good guy. He is obviously a brilliant player, and one of the issues he worked with The Average Pool Player on is an issue I have - coming across the ball. It is a hard thing to fix by yourself. Man, would I like to have a coach like Shaw to help me out.

I think I'm going to give Jayson's advice about walking into the shot a try(lining up on the shot and then stepping out). Seems to divert some from the standard way of doing it? I notice that Jayson is crossdominant. I wonder if his style works especially well for him as he can get the cue more over his dominant eye. I know that getting the cue over your dominant eye isn't necessarily the answer, but some alignment under your more dominant eye seems standard for most top players. Filler has his cue clearly under his left eye(dominant), Ronnie o'sullivan, Earl Strickland. Any thoughts Karl or others?

Fun video. It was so interesting to see something that it is not very common in pool training related videos: clearly showcasing the problems of bad stance. Keep them coming! Karl, film practice/coaching sessions with the average pool player!

Jason’s technique is to hold the cue in centre of your belt buckle walk into the potting angle of shot then step either side. This is a huge part of snooker coaching, walking into the shot
