I'm finally back on the Raptor! It's been almost 3 weeks since I fell off at Appleton and it was a blast to ride again! Thankfully my injury has healed as fast as it has.
This video features the long awaited drag races with the Renegade. I've been wanting to line these quads up on pavement for awhile and it was cool to see how they compared. This video also features my first ride on a Kawasaki V-Force 700!

One of the few atv videos that I actually enjoy watching. Almost every renegade video I have seen so far there always trying to sink it in muddy water, talking about how they blew a bunch of money on it or comparing it to a scrambler, it's nice to see a video of some people going out and having fun and talking about these machines and not deliberately destroying them. That's how I like to ride👍 plus not sticking in a bunch of background music in the video.

Love ur vids keep them going. I have a 2019 Raptor 700r and I do a lot of open trail riding with the occasional jumps here and there,what are you running for suspension,mine is stock and it seems it just wants to roll so what would you recommend setting the suspension at thanks

Lightweight and true mechanical driveline gives the Raptor an edge on acceleration even with a 300cc difference. CVT has more effective gearing which will let it hit a higher top speed

Makes me miss my 2011 raptor, rolled her hard in Barstow Ca. Doing 60 around a hard turn and made the mistake of down shifting mid turn and flipped me. 2 months of disability and $400 to replace my plastics it tuned my ass down a lot lol. Sold it for my house down payment, still think about it lol! Great vid!

Hey Pete! I own a raptor 700r but I'm too scared to jump it when I do it feels like it nose dives and I'm gonna roll end for end what am I doing wrong?

Normally if the front dives then you didn’t stay on the throttle all the way through the take off. Start with a smaller jump and try rolling on a little extra throttle right before your in the air. Hopefully that levels you out👍

Got a new Raptor myself, & it's also the red special edition. I'm looking for a great after market exhaust, any advice on which is the best? Slip-on just for sound or do the whole exhaust?

Congrats on the new raptor! I went with HMF because I knew it would sound the way I wanted. I have a full system. They say that you can get away without using an aftermarket fuel controller like a power commander if you only use a slip-on. I have a Power Commander 5 on mine. If you do a full exhaust your going to need a fuel controller to change the tune. I'd say the most popular exhausts for power are Monster and Empire. There's lots of companies that make exhaust systems. Others would be Dasa, Big Gun, DMC, FMF, Yoshimura, and Curtis Sparks, theres even more I can't think of right now. A good place to find answers is Facebook, theres lots of groups like RaptorHQ that can help answer questions! I like how my HMF sounds but it is leaking between the slip-on and the header, Its a minor leak but there have been people who have questioned HMF's quality and fit. If I change I may look into Dasa. Good luck with your upgrades 👍

Ride*907 AK my dealer set up the power commander, I’m not sure how it all works. I went with the power commander because it was the most recommended to me. They’re expensive but almost everyone said to get one so I did

I grew up on sports. Specifically the beloved 400EX. Every time I venture away from them I always come back. I almost bought a Renegade until I ran across a old scrambler 400 2 stroke. I saved a ton of money and man that old 2 stroke is wicked fun!! It strikes a good balance between sport and 4 wheel drive. If you ever get a chance definitely try one. Just a few upgrades make the old 2 stroke absolutely RIP. Just a pipe upgrade puts it at the same HP as a 700 raptor...around 48hp. But the old 2 smoker is easily capable of 60+hp.

I actually grew up riding a Scrambler 500 so I know what your talking about with the sport 400's. I've never ridden the 2 stroke scrambler/sports but I know they can be made into screamers on the drag strip! It sounds like you have a lot of fun on your's! 😊

Another awesome Video Pete! How do you like the Raptor compared to your old KTM? I used to have an 06' LTR and sometimes wish I would have went with another 450 over the Raptor but the ease of maintenance on the Raptor is so much better.

Patrick Riggs I loved that KTM but it was very high maintenance. It was very fast and handled super well but the Raptor does just fine! The only reason I would like a 450 would be to hit the MX track now and then. Otherwise the Raptor is perfect for my riding needs 👍

Its really impressive with that Raptor how a pipe and power commander can make it wake up so much! I love my Renegade 1000xxc but jesus watching this makes me miss my built 450R. totally different machine, and that Renegade beat the shit out of my 450r for all day comfortability!

Hey Pete which edit software do you use for your videos? I am starting my channel and will be doing a lot of work with my GoPro so if you have any insight on editing software, merges, slow mo’s... I’d appreciate the feed back!

I'm using a Macbook Pro and Final Cut Pro X. I really like the software and the main reason I went that route is because Adobe Premiere has a monthly subscription fee and Final Cut is a one time fee of $300 that includes updates for life. If your doing a lot of first person camera remember not to keep the same clip for too long, it's good to limit a lot of clips to 5-10 seconds unless theres some awesome content thats longer then that. I normally have a rule where I try not to waste the viewers time with content that just breaks up the flow. As fun as music is most people will comment that they want to hear engine so thats another thing to consider as well. Smooth video with good audio is also another big factor when getting people to stay and watch your whole video. Don't be afraid to experiment with different angles either. Starting a channel can be fun because your audience isn't huge yet and you can try different things. I also noticed things starting to grow once I put myself on camera too so don't be afraid to put yourself out there! good luck man!

I myself enjoy hearing the rider talk a bit but i also like the sound of the motor and exhaust so yes definitely there needs to be a balance lol and the putting myself on camera will probably be the hardest part to get comfortable with, but i will take all your tips into consideration!

I had a 05 Yamaha YFZ450 SE when it was new and these big displacement 4x4 quads started to get popular. I pulled up to the dirt drag strip at Busco Beach and there was this huge, automatic can-am sitting there. They dropped the flag, I pulled the wheel through the first two gears and all I could see was him on his back two wheels straight walking away from me. I knew what they were after that day lol. Shit straight embarrassed me and that 450 was walking raptors on the regular. I thought this was gonna be an easy win and he shut me down lol.

@@PeteHager yessah! No problemo! And man it's been since last labor day since I've rode! Craaazy! Lol chain jumped off the rear sprocket and binded around the case saver and the sudden impact of it stopping so bluntly caused the output shaft to break in the transmission as well as some of the casings on the inside around the bearing to chip off smh. I got married last Sept so I didn't have the money to even think about taking it to figure out what was wrong becuz of the wedding cost and having to take care of bills wherein my wife moved down from Connecticut and had to find a job, so about 3 weeks ago I just found out what all was going on with it. Oh and yeah I have a 2005 ltz 400, with a 434 cylinder works big bore kit, stage 2 hot cams, kibblewhite valves and springs,head ported and polished, tm 40 pumper carb with a 450 trx fuel customs air intake, full system exhaust with hmf pipe, dynatek ignition coil, dynatek rev box, and 15/39 gearing! So it's far from a 400! Lollol. I guess the easiest thing to have done is tell you what it doesn't have lol which is high compression piston nor stroker crank! That's bout the only two things left that could be done! Lollol

Mine started as an 03 660. Not a "factory 700/686" . With the other engine work I had in it, on top of the 686 kit, not too much could touch it, especially on winding trails. And I'm a big boy too. Ive ridden KFX 400s, and YFZ 450s. That raptor was by far my favorite. There was one guy on an LTR 450 that would always give me a good race. He weighed like 90lbs and would get me on gravel roads almost every time. Couldnt keep tires hooked for shit in loose gravel/dirt.

Down low you guys are neck-and-neck but it's a weight thing. The Renegade is clearly more powerful and faster, as it pulls away from you on the top-end every time, especially when you consider the Renegade pilot is probably 75-100lbs heavier than you are which makes a big difference. If you switched riders, the raptor would get pulled pretty hard. Both are awesome quads though, no doubt. The Raptor is still my favorite of the new ATV's. Another great vid! Kevin Breese you hit the nail on the head! That’s why we didn’t bother switching riders. Those renegades have endless pull. Hopefully I’ll hop on and ride it a bit the next time Mike and I meet up👍

You can get them on ebay. Just type in "raptor 700 warning labels" and some stainless steel options should show up. I had mine powder coated black 👍

I'm pretty sure all Raptor 350's have a hand clutch. It's based off the older Warrior 350's which is what I learned to ride clutch on

Hi my man compared to your raptor how did you like the kfx? I have been considering swapping my raptor 700 for a renegade 800 I do the same kind of riding as you. What would you suggest should I stay with the raptor or get a renegade. I do lots of drifting wheeling and trail riding.

Hey man! The KFX surprised me a bit, it’s super torquey and kinda felt like a muscle car! It’s obviously heavier than the raptor and it’s suspension would need some work if I owned one otherwise I would probably break it lol. The Raptor vs Renegade debate is really dependent on how you ride. Mike really likes his Renegade but handles quite a bit different from a sport quad. Those IRS machines get a lot of traction and power sliding can be dicy on them. They’re a taller machine so they can be a little top heavy compared to the raptor as well. I love the pure sport quads, their lighter, more agile, and it’s so fun to run the manual transmission. If I could only have one machine it would be the raptor but I do hope to have a Renegade as a 2nd machine someday. They both have their purpose and I think both are a ton of fun in the right environment. If your gonna get a Renegade I would spend the extra money to get the 1000. You don’t want to get the 800 and wish you had more👍

@@PeteHager Thank you I really appreciate your reply. Based on what you said I think I will stick to my raptor. I have gotten used to its power so I got a big gun exhaust that i still have to install. Just waiting on a fuel optimizer. Whenever I let others ride my raptor they just can't stop talking about it after because it's so fast and powerful
