1st and foremost..........never, EVER use a torque wrench to break torque! You will screw up the calibration and it will never torque correctly again. This is what breaker bars are for.
I have been making all the same points since my wheel fell off. But the Cam Am choir boys seem to think it's a perfect design and that Cam Am will swoop in like an angel and help you on the side of the road. Good to see your video. Thank you sir...
For me having the socket at the very least is a must. Then if I have to call for a breakdown truck they will be able to use it with their torque wrench. That’s my plan anyway.
hey I got a question I have Can AM Ryker 2020 I been trying to find a video on the ABS brake sensor . I keep getting VSS code and Limp home mode and traction warning light. They said I bent the top lh swing arm I replaced it but I’m still getting VSS reading
Yup, just got a flat Saturday and have to wait until tomorrow to have it towed to the dealership 🤦🏽♀️. Thank you I’ll be ordering this 65 MM socket. 👍🏽
You don't typically use a torque wrench to remove hardware, did they tell you to do that? It's usually for install only. You just need a braker bar or socket wrench for removal.
Actually you will need more than 220 ft/lbs to loosen the nut but a torque wrench is meant for tightening. A breaker bar or even an impact driver would be the better tool to remove. Now when you put it back on you need that 220{actually 221} ft/lbs to keep the wheel on.
It's always good to be prepared for anything. I'm hoping someone do a tune up tutorial on the Ryker. I'm still holding out for the 2020 model 2 come out. Nice bike and really enjoy your videos.
NEVER!! You will destroy the nut trying to remove it later. You don't put loctite on your car wheel studs you actually use Antiseize because of the torque requirements.
Ok. I know u probably know by now but you do not use a torque wrench to remove nuts. Get a long breaker bar or just a dewalt or other brand 20v impact. You'll love it AMD u can actually keep the socket and the impact on your bike with you.
You might want to recheck the torque wrench spec, I don't think that is a 220 ft lb wrench make sure it doesn't say in lb(inch pound) and please don't stand on it.
Why are you worried about replacing a tire with a new bike ? If I were worried , I wouldnt have bought the bike to start with! I bought my first Spyder in 2008, I have had it 11 years, I have had my second one for 4 years, I have NEVER had a blow out or an unexpected flat, and i have had 12 sets of tires so far. And I'm considering buying a Ryker....
Hello. Do you have the link where you purchased it? I agree you need to have your own 65inch tool to do the work on the tires or brakes. Good stuff and thank you 4 sharing.
Great video but I have found out even if you take the tire off no auto service shop will touch it of have the equipment to remove the tire from the rim. I have just put a can of Fix A Flat in my bag which will seal most average holes.
I live in the Treasure Valley of Idaho and the machines at Commercial Tire shops work absolutely great. I had balance issues with my bike from the manufacturer and my CT guy fixed the problem on both fronts in less than 30 minutes 👍👍
When I heard 200ftlbs My first thought was I am sure it's really 300ftlbs as most will use the good and tight method. A 30 inch breaker bar would be best to remove along with a 4 foot pipe. Nice to see you used a torque wrench to tighten. Most will just stomp on a 4 foot pipe and get it good and tight. I see it all the time
Yes. A must have. I would suggest wrapping the nut with electrical tape to prevent socket slippage and nut damage because the 65mm isn't a perfect fit but will get the job done.
It's a must. Not supplying the socket makes me think twice about buying a Ryker. To me, this is like buying locking lugs for your car but the dealer not supplying the key.
Don't use a torque wrench for loosening. Also don't completely take the nut off before jacking up the vehicle. The wheel could fall off and drop the vehicle on the ground.
Its the responsible thing to have unless you got good friends with pickups that can deadlift 600lbs. Probably have to find a jack that can fit inside the ryker trunk. Don't know why they didn't design the ryker with zero flat tires.
Yes, socket at the very least. Breaker bar and torque wrench will remain at the house. The socket will remain in the Ryker and if unfortunately there is a blowout, I will use a tow services' breaker bar and torque wrench and during the call ensure that they have them.
As has been made plainly clear in most Rykder videos, storage on the Ryker is basically nonexistent. I'm not exactly sure where you might carry a 65mm socket and a torque wrench in the event you have a flat tire on the road some place. Unless you wanted to lay out the cash for one of those small cases you can mount behind the rider or the side saddle bag, both of which only appear to offer minimal storage real estate. So to answer your question, I don't see the value in buying either unless for use in your own garage, but a flat on the road is still going to cost you some bucks to repair.
Do you have a torque wrench? Are there any one who is going to have a spare tire? I know you arent going to be carrying a spare because theres no place to carry one.. you shouldn't have taken off the wheel. Why are you thinking that you are going to have a flat or blow out? I wouldnt be going anywhere that I thought I would be likely to have tire damage. If you have a blowout you will have worse troubles than just repairing the tire, if you have a blow out you will have to replace the tire any how. Now for a puncture it's easier to repair the tire, if it can be repaired, while it's on the Ryker you should have a tubeless tire repair kit, and its smaller, but you will need air to pump the tire back up, plus, you get 1 year of roadside assistance with the warranty. I dont see any practical reason to remove the wheel while on the road. Now you have to torque the wheel nut back down. Do you have a torque wrench? Good luck and safe riding .
Man hands down I think we need the part to take the tire off. Cause you never know what will happen. If possible can you put the link of the socket in the description, cause I think people are keep asking u for the link... Lol
You must tighten the nut to 300 lbs I don’t think you could have done that with your small torque wrench, you should take it to the dealer and have it brought up to specks, you could suffer a failure because the three small pins on the rim must be locked in at 300 lbs. Good luck with your riding stay safe..
wont bother to go over not understanding how a torque wrench works, already been covered but you keep saying your removing the tyre, when infact you're removing the wheel with tyre attached So now you're siting at the side of the road with a flat tyre and trike on a jack, wheel in hand what next ? field repair of puncture? got the tyre levers, puncture repair kit and compressor to re inflate the tyre ? nop thought not best call recovery, oh wait, they cant load it on their vehicle because you jacked it up and removed the wheel leaving the trike immobile
The reason for the dislikes could be the following: 1 Don't jack the bike up on the A- Arms you could damage them. Jack up on the bikes frame. 2 Use a rod or Allan key to lock the wheel from the back side like intended 3 Never use a torque wrench to loosen a nut you will damage the wrench. It's a precision instrument. Use a breaker bar. In one of his replies he says he couldn't get the nut off with a breaker bar and set the the torque wrench to 400 ft-lb to get it off. What? This shows that he has no idea of how to use a torque wrench. And there is no way that wrench has a 400 ft-lb setting 4 I could be wrong but I have never seen a torque wrench that small capable of 221 ft-lb. Mine is over 2 ft long. It needs to be that long to be able to apply that high torque. My100 ft-lb wrench is longer than that one. 5 When using a torque wrench never jerk up and down on it to get to the desired torque. Even pressure till it clicks. 6 Tighten the nut with the wheel in the air so that the wheel centers on the axel properly and is torqued correctly. 7 Re torque after a number of miles This is really important to be done correctly as we have seen. Even some dealers can't seem do it correctly. I hope his wheel stays on and he doesn't have any problems. Just my 2 cents.
When you buy this motorcycle they should give you a small manual that shows you how to take the tires off they’re so fucking greedy They would rather kill their customers. They know people have to get the tire off
Uh my man you better put that wheel back on with 221 torque pounds or your wheel may fall off Goin down the road. There is another guy on RU-vid that the dealer didn't put the correct torque on it and his wheels fell off. If I were you I would just use the can am road side assistance that came with the bike.
My New 2019 Torque Bar has a ( Click ) when you reach the torque. Also, it half the size of a old torque bar. Keep in mind if everyone that buy this have run back to dealership make sure it’s correct. There going be some long lines. I’ll trust my work over any local dealership employee who is just ready go home. Doing a half job put these machine together.
I get you I trust my work more as well just a heads up man. No offense intended! I know I had to order a torque wrench that would put the correct torque on it when I bought mine. Stay safe out there and keep the videos comin love the channel
Torque wrenches don't apply torque. They are used to measure the amount of torque used to tighten a nut or bolt. Breaker bars are used to break loose a bolt. You have to use one of the correct size to get the job done. Thanks for trying to make an informative video. In the future please find out the correct procedure before you attempt to teach something.
That's not a proper torque wrench for 220 FOOT LBS !!! I have that small 3/8 " drive one, as well as the bigger 1/2 " drive longer torque wrenches. Both don't have a setting for up to 220 FT LBS. You'll need the huge torque wrench to properly set that tire on! You probably set it to 220 INCH LBS, which is waaaay too loose. This is an important safety issue. Look what happened to another ryker rider who had the dealership assemble his trike to have the tire come off at 800 miles. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HMmfHc2QJhg.html profanity used, but he could've died from their incompetence!
