@@solocamo3654 I like going sideways but snap oversteer in mr2s is lethal especially in the wet! Have written one off, been in another when we hit a wall and had 2 mates killed in another mr2! Thought best to stay clear of them to be honest!
Ive never had the guts to film myself doing this in my gt mr2. Figured if you had an observer the results would change dramatically. All about the nose in, throttle control on exit. Your roundabouts are massive. Nz ones are tighter and we have to drift upside down ofcorse. 😉
TBH these are pretty small compared to some UK roundabouts! We have mini ones too ... but a lot of our roundabouts in bigger cities are huge. In some places like Sheffield, Milton Keynes etc. they replaced every crossing with a roundabout tho lol .. these tend to be a bit smaller than average cos there's just so dam many.
Its a mr2 there basically touching the floor super light one the best cars for drifting and with thw turbo on it if the back wnd went to kick out just hit the throttle hard to bring it back there amazing car's
@@callumcoyne5850MR has horrible weight distribution, many MR cars arent drifted its all FR layouts nissan and toyota. I have rarely seen MR2 drifting at matsuri in Japan
I had a sw20 when I was 17 and holy shit that car tried to kill me more than I can count. Only once I was able to really counter the oversteer and it felt so badass. Every other time that ass end would snap around faster than you could blink
Yeah, I bet it snaps good when you spin it on dry Asphalt. Learned that the hard Way with my S13. Got around a little in the wet and went to a dry drift session Smacked my head right into the side Window. "Vodka und Bier, auaaaaaaa!
@@patmartin2730 nah, MR2's are killers. most mid engine cars as soon as you lose traction in the rear its all over, and the MR2 is deadlier than almost every other mid engine car. its almost like toyota put a front engine, front wheel drive setup in the rear backwards. oh wait thats what they did. 😂
@@Born_Stellar mr2 has to be driven a certain way. Just like old porches could be fast and fun if the driver knew how to drive it. Same way with mr2. Definitely fun. Go watch drift bible to see sw20 fun or chelsea denofa drift an aw11.
I used to own a supercharged MR2. Before the 1st one second of the video, I already knew the answer was "yes". Hell, that car would drift without me wanting it to. I once did a 180 in a parking lot just by hitting a puddle of water while turning the wheel at like 20 mph.
This gave me anxiety. Years ago I remember doing same thing and nearly drifted in to oncoming traffic luckily the car snapped back on its own. I still have no idea how I survived not hitting anything. Sold it soon afterwards. Such beautiful machines the mr2 turbo I’m just not skilled enough to drive it 😂
@@Jannajx5 Why is a guy with a Model S Plaid and Chiron on a video about MR2 Turbos? I think we have ourselves a little dreamer here lads... stick to your 1 litre Fiesta Ecoboost.
Love this car so much !! This is the definition of cool attitude ... Don't forget you got pop up headlights tho. Hope it will be my first car ! So underrated !
Really just impressive. Especially the throttle control. I know this is well known, but seriously. Not panic braking and steering, and instead using the acceleration pressure on the rear tires to get out of turns like that is such good handling.
It's really not that hard to drift an MR2 in the wet. The "snap oversteer" thing is a bit overplayed. Even a Sprinter Van will drift on a wet roundabout. Actually drifting an MR2 at higher speeds with some grip and proper transitions can be a bit tricky though. These cars are incredibly fun to slide around in slippy conditions specially in the snow. Had an AW11 for almost a decade and it was my go to car when it snowed.
I've no idea how you managed to do this, in the rain, in a turbo. My N/A MR2 tried to kill me a few times before eventually being written off after wet tram lines sent me into a building lmao. Great control
Thanks 🙏. When people tell me about how badly sw20’s handle. i can just send them this instead of giving a 2hr lecture on how to drive rear weight biased cars… we need more like you. 👍
owned MR2's since my very first car. Im going to tell you this, Drifting MR2's is GREAT in the rain. Recreate this same test in the dry over and over with hot/sticky tires. Towards the end of your slide, after the apex, the tires will randomly grab traction and throw you the OPPOSITE direction youre travelling and usually towards which ever way the steering wheel is pointing (usually counter steered while drifting) as you can imagine it gets pretty dangerous. Between the ages of 18 to about 23 (owned an AE86 and FC3S RX7) i argued how easily the MR2 drifted. and thats simply because i only ever tried sliding in the rain at first. Very Naïve on my part. I messed around in gravel conditions, Wet, and snow. all would have one believe it was easily driftable. it wasnt until summer my college year where real world experiences started to really add up. i was beginning to become cocky and sliding every corner i could. and admittedly in the dry, some better then others. But i started putting myself in spin out scenarios IN TRAFFIC, and nearly totaling my car a number of different times. Ive owned about 5 MK1 AW11, a MK2 SW20, and a MK3 ZW30.
As a long time mr2 fan and i think im on mr2 no5 now respect 🙏 to your driving . Anything else iv ever owned including big bikes i will push on no problem. Never really tamed an mr2 lin that way😂
