God. I'm so old. There was a time in the late 50s and early 60s when it was unusual for a foreign film not to be nominated in the Screenplay categories. With the admission of so many international members of late, I expect to see it happen more and more often. I think my favorite nominee was Federico Fellini for his classic 8 and 1/2......should have won.
Interesting. Do you think it helps that Anatomy is partly in English? With the low percentage that actually wins, I wonder whether voters have a language barrier and just vote for the best English screenplay.
Very interesting video. I remember last year when All Quiet on the Western Front started to win so many awards, I began to think wow, perhaps it'll win Screenplay. But then, Women Talking won. A worthy winner imo, although I loved All Quiet on the Western Front. When I think of Screenplay I think about creativity, twists and turns, heavy in dialogue, even smart courtroom dramas. Anatomy of a Fall has all those. It should win. I honestly think that Barbie has a better chance of winning in Adapted versus in Original Screenplay because Anatomy of a Fall is stronger than American Fiction or even Oppenheimer when it comes to Screenplays.
@jonathanvelazquezph.d.2719 Absolutely. I wouldn't be mad (other than having my prediction be wrong, lol) but Nolan winning 3 awards in one evening isn't out of the question.
