People are forgetting that he has 8023 playoff points. When all said & done he will eclipse 50k points nobody is beating that record ever. The crazier thing is he has 10k assists & 11k rebounds. He's still got like 2 - 3 years it's absolutely mind blowing numbers.
@@robesch88 Doesn't work when LeBron has some of the best per game and advanced numbers of all time. At his peak he had arguably the greatest numbers ever, his 09 season was the best advanced season ever (including in the playoffs), amazing per game stats, and led his mediocre squad to league best 66 wins while being 2nd in DPOY voting/1st Team All D. Then led them to league best 61 wins the following season with similar numbers, winning another MVP and 1st Team All D. And of course his Miami numbers and efficiency is extremely impressive, as well as being the best perimeter defender in basketball and another runner up DPOY (which he should've won).
Yes, and no matter how you adjust the numbers in that formula, getting to 40,000 is almost impossible. For example, if you increase the PPG to 32 (two higher than MJ or Wilt by the way) and lower the availability to 65 games (still 80% played) to adjust for current trends, you still need 19 full seasons with zero decline for age to achieve 40k. Almost impossible, really.
@anthonyrivera2306 Lebron will play another two seasons barring injury and will probably finish with near 45k 12k 12k. There is nearly a zero percent chance a player will join the league so young, be so good, so fast, be so trusted with the team and be so maniacal about their body that they can get there.
Yeah there are too many headwinds. LBJ played the first half of his career in a different era where star players regularly played 80 games. If a 28ppg player sits 10 games for rest they lose 280 pts a season x 20 is 5,600. I mean I think there will be some who can still be the best player on a team at 40, but the question is whether they'd still even want to play that long. There are so many more avenues for athletes now to make money and stay relevant, and staying a top player in your 30s kind of sucks as a life with the training and diet and the grind of the season. For LBJ these aggregate career numbers became his thing in the GOAT debate; it's what he set his eyes on after 2016. And once we get past this current crop of guys who are like 35 I really don't see the younger guys playing much past like 32; it's just not worth it anymore.
@@gf4670LeBron played 74+ games in 13 of his first 15 seasons (up through 2017-18), and averaged 76 games per season and 38.75 minutes per game through that span. Do you think we’ll see many players do that now? Minor by comparison, but LeBron also went straight to the NBA out of high school when prep to pro players were a thing. The scoring record he’ll end up with will be very hard to top.
You gotta be a genetic freak , watch what you eat for 20 years and train your body consistently ,never get injured play 75+ games every season, score 25 a night since day 1 to even stand a chance. I think it will we impossible to break it if he reaches 45k points
@@CollaredConsultingof that was the reason LeBron scored 40k, than the record is going to be broken, because better PEDS are coming out every year. Instead, the more the time goes on, the least probable it seems someone will actually get him.
@@MrOneanddone91Absolutely, and the fact that he was justified taking Richardson there illustrates that. Solid career, but several spots down in most other drafts.
You can be fit and still not make it that long. Kobe was obsessed af and look how that turned out. Same goes for Karl Malone, who was seemingly indestructible until age 40. Luka can get in shape and it won't matter. You also need a ton of luck. Not just to avoid injuries but also to avoid genetic issues like degeneration of joints at an early age.
True, but also his scoring 0 points in the 4th quarter and OT (after 30 through 3 quarters), and his point blank miss on a little bunny layup in regulation were also factors. Besides, that loss fired up the team for the next title run. If they had won the first time, that would have been 5-0, but do they repeat? They NEVER repeated.
I don’t think people realise how difficult it is to achieve what Lebron has done. It’s not about you scoring 30 ppg for 20 years to break 40K that’s hard. In fact that’s the easiest thing to do especially in the NBA today with how the game has changed. You have to have a crazy obsessive mindset and personality. You have to want to be your best bring your best from day 1 until you are 40 years old. The mental toughness you need to have the dedication you need to have the discipline the drive the focus you need to have to wake up every single day and give it your best is unprecedented. Now not only that you have to dedicate your life to eating healthy sleeping on time having good habits good recovery dedicate time and energy and money to all those factors to keep your body your physical state in that best way possible. So the mental and physical go hand in hand you cannot abandon any of it for 20 years every day you have to be dedicated no cheating no cutting corners no excuses no days off you have to bring your best every single day. The discipline you need to have the hard work you need to put it every single day is what makes this so difficult and almost impossible. Now for Lebron the whole world is watching everyone is in the trenches waiting for him to fail so they can crucify him. Everyone is crucifying his every move his every possession his every shot his every missed game his every loss it’s being micro examined by everyone. He has been out under a microscope for 20 years and now the technology age we live in with social media he is even now more than ever been constantly talked about every day. People wanna see him fail wanna see him not succeed wanna see him miss a shot miss playoffs not catch Jordan. Now imagine all that pressure from day 1 until now and still be able to out perform all the expectations and the pressure. Personally to me this is mind blowing that Lebron has still managed to be able to survive all this for this long someone needs to study his mind and his brain and his mental strength and learn from him because he is one of one. That’s why you will never see anyone like Lebron again with his mental toughness his work ethic and his discipline we don’t make them like him anymore. He is the last of his kind nobody is gonna ever do what he did in our life time. I am 39 and I know I will never see anyone like Lebron again nobody is gonna be able to survive mentally physical emotionally what he has for 20 years in our lifetime. They just don’t come like that anymore they don’t make them like that anymore with that sort of crazy
Probably not in our lifetimes, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that in 100 years time, there could be a guy in his mid 40s or over still playing at an all-star level assuming sports science continues to improve. People would have thought you were insane in 1960 if you'd said that in 64 years there would be a guy going 25-7-7 at age 39
There are two things that LeBron may have going for him in this context compared to future NBA players: 1. He was a prep to pro player. Players can’t come out of high school straight to the NBA anymore, and if that rule was changed, players would get another young year to work with. And 2. Chances are future players would play fewer games than LeBron did up through 2017-18. Through 2017-18 (his age 33 season), LeBron James played at least 74 games in all but two seasons, and averaged 76 starts a season for his first 15 seasons. How often do we see players miss more than eight games in a season nowadays?
Not only is LeBron freakishly durable, he's had a phenomenal training ethic since he started in the league. Luka does not. No chance he makes it. Duncan was the best of his generation, not Kobe.
Agreed. Plus the dude is a crybaby without any heart. Try watching a game with him and seeing him whine every time to the refs. Ultimate front-runner type of player.
Duncan and Kobe were better than LeBron. Those guys never ran away from the challenge of winning when things got tough. I think it's because they didn't grow up fatherless so they learned to be competitors and not cowards
@@MindoftheNorthStarKobe cried to get Shaq kicked off the team then threw a hissy fit that the team was bad(shocker) and tried to force his way to Chicago 😂 Duncan had rumors of going to Orlando not to mention why would you leave when you get drafted to a team with Duncan Robinson an all time great, an all time great coach, multiple other all star/hall of fame players throughout the rest of his career like Parker, ginoblii etc of course he didn't leave I'd love to see any of these guys (Kobe, MJ, Shaq, Duncan etc) go suffer in Cleveland for nearly a decade with the worst front office in the league and mo Williams and big Z as his number 2 & 3 🤣 Kobe, MJ, Barkley would be punching teammates within the year
Total rebounds is even more ridiculous than Stockton and LeBron's record to be honest. Wemby could play 20 seasons, average 70 games a season and 16 rebounds a game and still be few hundreds behind. Nobody is ever doing that.
@@12gark yeah wilt's total number itself is insane, but rebounds in general in the 60's were crazy with players finishing 3rd-4th in league rpg for the season while averaging like 21rpg
Luka was asked about catching LeBron a couple months back. Said he doesn't intend to play long enough to do it. Even if he changes his mind, he probably likes his post-game brewskis a bit too much. LeBron spends literally a million dollars a year on body upkeep. No way Luka will match that durability.
When Luka starts to drop off when he's like 31 people are going to start making excuses like "bro those years in Euro count he's got the mileage of like a 35 or 36 year old player" The stupid thing going now is comparing other players to Lebron, he is not normal. It is not normal to play crazy in year 17, much less 21. It was crazy when Kobe did it. It should still be crazy that KD is doing it. KD and Steph playing like they are now should be much more celebrated, but Lebron just shatters all comparison.
less than two years ago Bill was saying that 2022 Giannis was maybe the best player he's ever seen in person since 2000. He said he was right up there with 2013 Lebron, but since then Bill has decided that him being a celtics disallows him from giving Giannis any respect, so now he pretends he never said that
Not that you can’t argue Jokic is better than Giannis nowadays, but Bill may be saying that about Jokic to prop up him and make it look more impressive when the Celtics lose the finals to Denver.
Idk I used to think the same thing but its been 2 years and Giannis still can’t shoot and only has a few real moves. The honeymoon phase on Giannis has passed, he’s one of the best players in the league but a top 3 player of all time I think not
Eliminate the corner three and defensive 3 seconds. The defense would be better and more guys attacking the hoop from the corner. If the corner is no longer worth 3pts, guys aren't going to shoot deep mid-range 2s. They are going to drive to the hoop. And since you made 3 seconds legal, you are either going to see a very nice meeting at the rim for a monster block or dunk. It would make the NBA really fun to watch.
Not everyone can make a step back 3 consistently. There are literally guys making a career out of standing in the corner. Its so boring watching so many 3s and a game rigged against the defense. @@ashishshresthaa
@@RobustMustache A lot of players can make them though, so if u takeaway the corner then the corner guys will sell out to block the lanes so the best shot would be a stepback 3. The stats will probably also be like "well if u shoot .35 from 3s it's better than .50 from 2" with a crowded rim the twos will be tougher, they'll probably take even more threes and even uglier threes.
It has taken an average of almost 30 years for this record to be broken. From Will to Kareem to Lebron, and Bill first question is if someone in the next decade will do it 😅. Not impressive enough for Bill. Maybe a really nice player will do it. Congrats Lebron, what a run of excellence
Bill is 54. Ryen is 48. The scoring record doesn’t necessarily need to be broken by a player currently in the NBA to occur in their lifetimes. All the sports talk people asking this question really mean, “Will LeBron’s scoring record be broken by a player currently playing in the NBA.”
The hardest sport to play came up recently.. QB is the hardest position to play.but that's no the whole sport. Where u actually have a difference in Skill positions. Boxing takes the most dedication cuz of making weight and u can literally die. But hoop everyone plays, we all played. We all knew someone who was good at school or around the way. All jocks play basketball for fun even if they pros in major leagues. So a dude at the end of the bench who avg 2.0 is a superior hooper. With that context it's MIND BOGGLING WHAT BRON IS DOIN AND DONE
Bill on the Lakers is always hilarious: @ Janie paying Kobe to prove the Lakers take care of their stars - Bill, confidently: 'didn't help them'. (Ignoring literally the guy this segment is about)
Bill is constantly in denial about the Lakers success. In the mid-2010s the Celtics had the brightest future of any NBA team while the Lakers were stuck in limbo in the post-Kobe era. A decade later guess which team won a title first…
@@ElBrillante4also, LeBron played way more career minutes than Kobe, especially if you add the playoff minutes. Someone seems to forget that LeBron was 15 season into his career when he played 82 games and then went on playing 42 minutes a game for 22 playoff games, including 2 game 7s and 2 buzzer beaters. LeBron has a shot to set the all time record for minutes as well, he's second to only Kareem and only about 1000 minutes short. The longevity and durability are out of this world. And nobody else is beating that either. 57K minutes is beyond ridiculous, especially if you factor in 11k and change playoff minutes, which is 3k more than anyone else ever.
I don’t think Luka wants to play till he’s 40. He has made comments about it. He would probably retire around 38. Also Lebron was younger when he came into the league.
Lebron is the goat. I’m tired of old heads and their nostalgia for the 80s and 90s and the fabrications created to prop up Jordan. Spurs dynasty, Warriors dynasty, thunder with three future mvps who were favorites to win that finals (look it up). Sure the mavs collapse was all time bad but Jordan wouldn’t sniff 6 rings in this era and he would be able to pick on 6’1 Kevin Johnson and Danny ainge and marlje who didn’t have the foot speed to guard on the perimeter. Mfer didn’t even face Hakeem in the finals cuz he took a break and the rockets had a winning record regular season wise against the bulls. People gas Reggie miller like jimmy butler doesn’t have a similar resume to him. 6 for 6 in the expansion era that many players called watered down at the time is never brought up. People try to down play the 40k points when the nba had cheer leaders holding a giant banner in the stands and gave Jordan a trophy for getting to 30k with the wizards. Jordan gets called god in basketball shoes for getting swept against the Celtics. Lebron does the same thing against golden state multiple times who was a way better team in 17 and 18 and gets slandered gtfo.
Don't worry. Myth Jordan fans (because Jordan marketing was the greatest of all time by far) aren't listening. Don't get me wrong, Jordan has a good case for Goat in my opinion. But the idea that it can't be argue he isn't is the myth@@zain4070
Why are you not talking about Garnetts doping allegations of lebron ? Any other allegation from a top 75 hall of famer would be credible and get your commentary.
@@ham-on-the-bone Oh for sure. When we have dudes stretching a quote about how LBJ is on a different type of level through metaphorical use of ‘juice’ to claims that KG was accusing LBJ of being on steroids for sure is what’s wrong with society nowadays. Zero objectivity or grounding in reality

hell no. LeBron never caught up to Jordan; he tried his best but he failed. His steroid longevity isn't enough to put him past Jordan he needed 6 rings
Bron has the 3rd highest jersey sales and still puts butts in seats. They'll pay him. Especially true since they'll want him on the team during his retirement season
He’s also still a top 10 player, the production is still there. Bill and Ryan acting like he’s giving you 12ppg when it’s still 25/7/8 on 41% 3pt and 50% FG
Why are they talking about free throw numbers being the issue? Free throw attempts per game are down by 4 from 20 years ago. The skill of offensive players and offensive sets continue to outpace defensive play. How can the NBA legislate against players shooting a higher percentage from 2 and 3. Simple math, teams play at faster pace and shoot higher percentages than 20 years ago.
No, simply because guys don’t want to play as much, regardless of how you feel about Lebron he’s been healthy most of his career before getting to LA, he’s played 75+ games 12 times and has averaged at least 25 ppg 20 straight seasons.. not to mention Bron could get to 45k if he wants to tbh
For one season I agree paying Lebron is a bad basketball decision, but for the long term success of the team I think you want players to know you take care of your guys.
Lebron scoring 40000 is unreachable...he will get 50000 if we combine playoff and regular season...that's untouchable....he deserves props for that cause he isn't a shot chucker....no one will catch his 9000 playoff points
They can use their picks to upgrade the role players where the issue is.. If you let LeBron walk make the case for what you will do.. LeBron is also tradable still on that contract at that age.
Tough because Lebron started at 18. Players don’t start until atleast 19-20 yrs old. I don’t think any record is unbreakable but this will stand for generations. The way guys are scoring today who knows.
Luka will lag to 30 fps when he's 40 years old. Right now his speed is acceptable. Bron runs like a cheetah back in the day so his slow mode today is still faster than most.
Short Answer..... Nope Long Answer...... Never will be broken in our lifetime What LeBron is doing is more than anything we have been able to comprehended a basketball player can accomplish. He was dubbed the Chosen one and exceeded expectations. This is why the GOAT debate is so cliche and just opinions at the end of the day. Jordan may have been the "better player" when he played but Lebron will go down as the "greatest career" in NBA history that I don't think any one can ever top. It's really unbelievable his stats
Mmmm no. Kareem still has the greatest career. Kareem's got 10 Finals appearances, 6 championships, 2nd all time in points (less games played than LeBron), and he's got the most MVPs ever with 6. MJ still has a better career than LeBron too. 6/6 in the Finals, never choked in the Finals, DPOY, 5 MVPs, and his prime was in one of the slowest-paced eras. On top of that, MJ's story is just the best. He went to a franchise that never won a thing. The team got better and better with him there, they beat their nemesis, and then had a decade-long dynasty. There's only been what? 4 teams that won 3 straight? And MJ has been on 2 of them. The next best story is probably Steph. He had ankle issues. Nobody really thought he'd be what he became. Jump shooting teams were thought to be fun but not championship-caliber. Then here comes Steph. Not to mention the fact that Steph has as many rings as Bron, on LeBron's watch. And sure, Steph had a superteam, but that's the last excuse I wanna hear from LeBron. LeBron formed 3 superteams (the one in LA failed with Westbrook but it was an attempt nonetheless).
If anyone does pass lebron in the future people won’t care because scoring is getting easier now it’s about outscoring teams vs defending the team lebron played 3 eras so his still counts but this 2020 era it’s just scoringgg
Lebron played most of his career in a much slower placed NBA. If his entire career was happening now with todays rules and refs, he would be closer too if not at 50000 by now. Just go look at how few PPG was happening in the early 2000's. Not even close to 2024 numbers.
Luka would have to average 30ppg+ for 17 seasons and play 70 games a season to get to LeBron now, when LeBron will most likely get to 44k points when its all said and done. Luka on JJ Reddicks podcast said he's not playing that long.
Luka started a year older than Lebron and hasn't matched his total in any season so far. Luka's basically more than a season and a half behind Lebron's pace. And even his monster PPG average this year will barely make a dent in that lead since Luka misses a lot more games. Luka's going to need to become a whole lot healthier to have any chance at this even if he does play 20+ seasons.
Wait so it's okay for people to hate on White Chocolate cuz he wasn't a shooter though a great passer, but it's perfectly acceptable to slobber all over drama queen, high usage, low efficiency losers like Allen Iverson??? I'm confused.
@@fortynights1513 well Duncan did play 19 seasons. He never had outrageous stats, for sure. averaged 19/10. But he just did what he had to for the team to be in a better position to win. As the years have gone on tho, I have become fond of a couple historic seasons Kobe had in the mid 2000's
@@cajxii1True. Was just saying longevity because Barry McCockiner once put Kobe over Duncan and he argued that Duncan’s career post 07 is overrated. I don’t know how much validity there is to that claim, but either way I think you could argue Kobe had better longevity.
@@fortynights1513Duncan definitely had better longevity. If you’re arguing longevity like a top 5 player maybe not, but Duncan made All-NBA 1st team 16 seasons apart, Kobe was only 12 years apart

Wtf are you talking about? Tell me how the Lakers will be contenders if they let LeBron walk this summer! HOW? You’re stating like it’s a realistic choice.
Lukas for LeBron James 40.000 record .the problem is the injuries that a player face in 21 years- we need to know that LeBron is a very strong player and takes care of his body and more points will add to his record. 😊😊😊😊

Bill you nailed it. LeBron is a linebacker just running down the floor, while barely dribbling, and then slamming into everyone to create space for an uncontested layup. LeBron travels and commits an offensive foul on a huge percentage of his shots within five feet. Then he complains after EVERY SINGLE SHOT, that he didn't get a foul called. Then he very often doesn't get back on defense. People are giving LeBron a free pass to play terrible basketball and pad his stats.
You must be young because that's how basketball used to be played. Jordan, Kareem, Bird all played that way and when LeBron came into the league there was still alot of it going on. Only the last 15 years has it been that offensive players get to do what they want. LeBron is old school and I think alot of Referee's respect that.
No chance for Luka. Unless he starts a Lebron type fitness and PED regiment. Even then, his genetics and phenotype don't scream longevity. He has physio tape on almost every inch of his body NOW.
Lakers take care of their superstars and that's why they have Lebron. You give Lebron the big deal because we brought you back to relevancy and got you a title. Who else can sign any superstar, the Celtics? They've burnt that bridge with how they treat their players.
The notion that the lakers have a better chance at winning minus lebron is a stupid conversation. There best chance at winning is keeping bron and Davis and finding the right role players around them. Really they just need a point of attack defender who is a positive on the offensive end away from reallt being able to compete.
