CAN BUTTER REPLACE SKATEBOARD WAX? 

"Will it wax?" would be a great series, off the top of my head you could try crayons (tried and tested), roll on deodorant, cooking oil, spray on lubricant, wd 40. And that's just some common 'hacks', you could also try out of the box options like dirt, honey, candy etc. Rate each one on things like slidability, mess, affordability, longetivity etc and keep a running scoreboard

The premise should have been framed as, "Is a buttery rail nicer to grind than a "buttery" rail?"

Gabe, you should've had a solvent that would clean off the wax without all the scraping. Isopropyl or acetone would work.

I’ve made my own skate wax with butter mixed with regular candle wax and it was super slick

Also, for future reference mineral spirits dissolves wax. Wear nitrile gloves. If you need to really remove it from something spirits is the way. Can follow up with acetone or lacquer thinner to remove final residue and make the solvents evaporate faster. Stay ventilated!

A hand held blowtorch cleans off wax on that metal object in about 3 minutes. you can get the little propane ones made for camping stoves for $5 - and it's a game changer to clean those every so often.

here s a video idea for you gabe :D test the grindability of different curb materials. i live in germany and i noticed that some curbs grind like butter (hihi) and others look like they would grind more easily but they are basically ungrindable. no idea how many different curb materials u guys have over there but it would be interesting imo :D

Should have used rubbing alcohol to clean the rail, would say gas but that stuff like gold rn lol, great vid used to clean my bearings in gas that was always my go to, made those bearings fly bro! ~ZJAK

I scrape the wax off the rails at my diy skate warehouse all the time, the dust like bakes into the wax and when you clean all off and add fresh wax its so much better of a slide.

i'm used to barely waxed rails and ledges (we have pretty low level in Poland i guess) and once someone waxed tf out of my fav ledge and it just traumatised me lol took me some days to even touch a ledge after that and now i check every ledge very carefully before i skate it so i haven't recovered after like 4 years lol

Get another spackle scraper and then use a hole saw and make a perfect diameter scraper for the rail next time. Would’ve completed the job in two seconds instead of having so much area to go over with technically such a small contact patch on the scraper you were using. Might already exist? If not? Cha Ching

Now that rail is really buttery.
