this one isn't even complete, but that's because you don't know that the Rhizosphere is far more important than anything happening above it. Herds of large herbivores are absolutely required to rebuild the global Rhizosphere. But in order to do so they must constantly migrate over 10's of millions of acres, or they begin to undermine sustainability efforts and poison the Rhizosphere. Just as Industrial Agriculture has done over billions of acres of land already. A healthy active Rhizosphere is the digestive gut that contains 65% of all terrestrial biomass and forms the foundation of all terrestrial ecosystems. You should start there, and then build toward developing an understanding of farming models that compliment and sustain the Rhizosphere rather than diminish and ultimately destroy sustainability efforts. We can't keep pushing the buck to the next generation. And we can't keep pretending we've got solutions when the data is missing billions of acres of diminished and destroyed Rhizosphere. We need MORE livestock. Not less. And understanding why is at the very core of the carbon crisis. Do a real documentary on the Rhizosphere. The trillions upon trillions of organisms dug up and gassed off into the atmosphere, that we know were made of carbon, and are now part of the atmosphere. Until that data is part of every carbon model, and understood thoroughly, there is no "solution" to any of our sustainability problems. You can't tell me how many crates of apples there are if you only count the horses pulling the cart.
More of this, keep it going as a series. Keep the focus on whats working and show others how they can do the same or at least support the people that are doing this kind of work. Great video man! this kind of information gives me hope!
This is my farmer! I order from him two to three times a year. I met him last year and his farm is absolutely a joy to explore and experience. The beef is the best I’ve ever tasted. There’s no place like White Oak Pastures
I agree with everything but there is one problem here and thatsthat there is so much people on the worldright nowand im just curious if this tipe of farming would produce enough food for the whole planet. Please dont get me wrong, I am also farming like this and i know that my cows arent getting on weight as much and as quick as the cows on the extensive farms. But I also know that there is a lot of food trown away every year, im just a bit confuzed 😅. Ps. Sorry for my english because it maybe isnt everything be corect but Im from europe so i may have some mistekes in my coment.
I have one MASSIVE complaint after I watched this. It wasn’t near long enough! From a fellow videographer, Incredible job! Really well done. Thank you for this beautiful, educational, and inspiring story.
I can't afford your products but I grab them up when they go on sale at the store. I bought a chuck steak at Walmart the other day. It was so tasteless I had to keep adding salt. After we were done I watched a farm video that said some meat was from Argentina but if it was packaged here it could say USDA BEEF. And I thought pink slime was outlawed years ago. Nope, Walmart and Costco and several others have PINK SLIME IN THEIR Meats! I can't afford not to buy farm fresh meat.
I've been following Will Harris ever since I heard him on Joe Rogan. Read his book, sent his book to family. I would love to visit his farm someday. I found a local farmer who is also practicing regenerative farming and I buy what I can from her. Save Our Soil!
@@FirstnameLastname-ps4cu I know its pricey 🥴 But the more demand there is for this type of food/farming model, then hopefully in the future the prices should come down a bit and I would just hope that industrialized farming just goes away all together lol. I don't make much at all ... but I choose to invest in my food and not other material things because that is what is important to me.
@@ashleyplaceres Hold on here let's not be delusional (LoL) here, this type of farming does not produce enough food not even close to enough food per area. If there's not enough food the people will burn the planet to the ground before starving. How about starting here, you cannot purchase produce that's not grown within 300 miles of the store. Phase this in and local farmers would skyrocket, people planting vegetables instead of grass would also skyrocket. What do you think?
@@ashleyplaceres yessiiir. Im currently searching for this option in Norway. I really wanna support this and also become healthier from eating these awesome super foods :)
Breeding animals into existence for the sole purpose of murdering them is definitely not “God’s work” . You must worship a sadistic god if you think animals were put here for your taste buds and personal pleasure. This farmer is not running a sanctuary folks ! He is in the business of exploiting the lives of animals . Stop trying to venerate and glorify animal farmers as heroes. You do not need to murder animals to eat them in order to survive.
Is propaganda everyone gonna want to Buy land and cut trees for a ranch just saying is like saying is like saying a🐮is more important than🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
This is incredible. Takes a few line warriors like Will to really put things into perspective and drive forward the sustainable movement. It’s pricey, but costs get driven down with adoption so it’s time for us to do our part.
We’re all over the world, in nearly every area. We do what is right for you, your environment and what is fair on the animals. All we ask in return is that you choose to buy your food and fibres from us. We do the hard stuff, so that you don’t have to. Please support regenerative agricultural farms.
@@moonsharn Amen! Ive recently learned about this stuff, but I'm struggling to find a farm I could buy from in Norway. Any tips on how to find beef for example, from a regenerative farm?
I first came across Will Harris as one of Peter Byke's "Carbon Cowboys" and have been a fan of his ever since. As a suburban dweller, with a field opposite me, Will is one of the influencers for me to find the landowner of this now unused land and make a go of regen farming. This short documentary is an excellent short explainer to get people interested; I have a shelf full of books now on the topic, including "A bold return to giving a damn", this video encompasses all the information I want to pass on to get others interested in combating the current ideology of removing animals from the land.
I recently launched a farmers' market here in NJ, driven by our love for them. The past six months have been a journey of learning, particularly about meat cultivation and quality. Much of what we've learned needs to be shared with our communities! Thank you for continuing to educate us. It's been both interesting and important
Well done David. I’ve been supporting White Oak Pastures since 2010 when I returned home to Georgia. I just finished “Mr. Will’s” book “A Bold Return To Giving A Damn”. This documentary paints a very good picture for those who can’t pick up the book. I have never witnessed such transparency in any business.. especially what we put into our bodies and call “ food “.. Big Food .. mystery meat. You never know what you are eating or how the animals were raised. Greenwashing is real. It’s “ the new black “. Make the trip to Bluffton, Ga. If you are able. Vote with your dollars. Share the views!
Thats exactly the reasoning that drew me to make this piece! Thanks for watching! tried to make it as concise and entertaining as possible for those who would've never thought about agriculture like myself just a few months ago.
Wil is one of the many great voices in the farming and conservation conversation. We began our journey 5 years ago to raise our own food and improve the small piece of our community. This type of farming is for sure the way and hopefully will eventually become more prominent in our society! Great work on this many doc!
Amazing work. The amount of benefits of regenerative pasture farming is too many to count. The amount of nutrition per dollar you get beats factory farming every day of the week. Not to mention it reduces emissions, restores soil health and literally saves the planet. Proud to support and buy my meats from regenerative pasture raised farms. Thanks for educating 🙏
I’ve been eating a plant based/vegan diet for 10 years. And I believe the way this farmer and many others are approaching raising animals is 100% the right way to go. Just seeing how happy the animals are and hearing this man speak brought tears to my eyes and hope to my heart. Blessings to all these farmers that chose to give the animals a life they deserve ❤ and may many more follow in their footsteps 🙏
If you are Truly Vegan , then you wouldn’t be praising people for giving animals high welfare , when you know that the ultimate purpose of this farming method is the same as any other ; which is to own, exploit , and eventually murder these animals to turn them into a food product. You need to take a deeper look at the ethics of animal liberation , and have the courage to take a stand for the rights of the animals to not be viewed as commodities and food products.
@@DavidBlodgett David , do you still send these animals to slaughterhouses ? You still view these sentient beings as commodities and food products? So you don’t have enough respect for these creatures to just leave them alone. You are not saving the world , the world includes non human animals who do not desire to be your steak or your burger.
It's so rewarding to see the truth being provided to the public as someone who is looking to mirror Mr. Harris path in life. My great grandfather farmed honestly and somewhere in the generational gap we now eat chemicals. Thank you!
Hi! Is it possible that you can add Spanish captions? I'd like to show this to my agriculture teacher and show her that cows are not the problem, but our conventional way of farming is.
What a well spoken man. Men like Mr. Harris will continue to influence generations long after his departure. As a society we learn slowly but the time will come when we will figure out what we have to do to survive on this planet. Keep that passion strong will Harris people will follow one day.
Superb video! I am blessed to live 45 minutes from his farm. It’s always a pleasant experience to go to their country store. Excellent products. Beautiful souls! Thanks for sharing this 🙏 Peace love and blessings 💫
Hello Harris I have been trying to get this into Swedish farming. My experience is that my Government actively work aginst this. At one time, I had been pushing, a film was produced by the government "Sista Skörden", The last crop. In that film it was admitted that 50% of minerals were gone from crops. And under such circumstance any disease could develop. What you are doing reminds me of Jill Clapperton. The Ph.D I chose to follow became Elaine Ingham. Composting for critters to populate soil with. The tool to know what is braught to soil is a microscope. She have quite a few videos on RU-vid. Me I could never get a business going. You see I found these faming methods in the late eighties. My realisation was that the only thing big enough to be able to change farming methods world wide was to combine farming with energy production. Firstly for the farm itself. I do not want farms food production to be dependent on energy from untrustworthy partners. Are you running your machines on ethanol? The biggest problem is what can be done is to good to be true. Just think of health benefits! How are your cattle doing health wise? Good food givs the same benefits to people. Powers that be is our obstacle. Thank you for what you are doing. Thank you for this film. I am in Sweden by the way. Here our Government is working against this kind of development.
What a refreshing documentary, I only hope the uneducated use the immense volumes of information available to reducate themselves instead of listening to lies by those seeking financial benefit! Only by having an open mind will we move forward as a people!
In Australia, many activists think that all farms are effectively feedlots, which is strange given practices that have been legally required for decades. The vast majority of farmers actively petition against feedlots being allowed into their regions because of the reduced quality of life for animals. This shows a total lack of awareness or wilful ignorance on the part of activists. It should also be noted that daily paddock rotation breaks parasite life cycles, reducing disease in animals.
Really interesting video. I grew up on a farm in Australia, and when I watch these videos on regenerative farming my initial reaction is to find them weird because growing up all of this was just smart farming. Having been in the food industry for my career I've realised that 95% of farmers want to farm this way. Corporations are what drive the bad animal farming practices we have globally. Because they aren't interested in environment welfare, animal welfare or farming welfare. They are interested in the growth rate of the next qtr. While we have governments who priortize food supply based on monetary growth rather than sustainability we'll unfortunately not have the right number of farmers who farm the land, rather than farm for growth.
Love to see that some people like you are really connected with nature and concerned about human health and at the same time earth regeneration, respecting the life of both. We as a population need to support farmer like you by buying your products.
This gives me enough hope to go forward with the future. Thank you, and thanks to all other farmers and contributors towards our common well-being and future of both humans and all animals. Let's make the world a better place for the ones coming after us.
Congratulations , Great documentary ! Inspiring and revealing Beautiful images and technically it is very well done ! Great audiovisual piece Greetings from Colombia David 🔝👏👏👏
Excellent documentary! Thank you for producing this. We at Countryside Acres hope to be setting up a similar farm very soon here in Russia. God bless you all!
my absolute pleasure. Very challenging to try and fit all the info into 30 minutes. Theres so much more but I tried to make it as concise and entertaining as possible.
I believe that this is the only food that supports health. I am not always able to afford it but it is my intention to buy local from producers like you, Mr. Harris. I pray that the day comes when you are seeing that shift you dream of seeing in the consumer mindset. Thank you for explaining green washing. The eggs sold at my local co-op are the best damn eggs around with orange yolks and delicious flavor. Farmed the way nature intended, it bears out what you are preaching. I believe that big food is happy to make us ill so we end up customers of big pharma. It's all the same owners behind both. Food is life or death accordingly. TY for whsg you are doing!❤
Great job David awsome work. I am a farmer in Canada and its so important for people to see what great fatmers are out there and not to just stop eating meat but instead search out the farmers that produce food you want to eat so from a farmer thanyou David for helping spread the word
Thank for this enlightening documentary, it is important to uncover the untruth that are told to consumers everywhere. This is not an eye opener for me because my family and I have been researching this practice for some years now, six years ago we move to rural America where I taught my wife to plant vegetables and other food it has been a delight for our family. Thanks to Mr Harris for the way he chooses to raise and market his animals. He mentioned that there was not as much money as the big producers but in the end he comes out as the winner because he is protecting what God gave to mankind while others a ruining it! Green washing please continue to expose this subject. Thank you for the hard work and effort that was put into this documentary.
You're hundreds of years too late. Government took land from natives and gave it to white men. But market in ag doesn't always work, e.g. booms/busts, huge surplus during Depression & eaters. Don't you think we'd be better off if the incentives that determine the rules of the market were created by farmers and eaters, not the monopolies? Monopolies won't go away until people get the govt to work for the people.
Mr. Harris, thank you for what you do. If more consumers used their local producers like yourself and if the FDA would get out of the way then we would all be better off. The politicians that have accepted the money and allowed the big companies to control the marketplace should all be kicked out of parliaments all over the world. Let a local area meat packer set up and work with the farmers. We have gone back to the old ways ourselves and only raise beef for family and close friends as we got older. We cut our cow herd down from 350 cows to 25 and utilize a local butcher and everyone is much healthier and happier, I just wish people would back to working with the local farmers and didn't fall for the marketing from the big chains.
Amazing work. Next one? next documentary?.... Why not meet the beast head on?... the USDA, the Farm Bill and the revolving door... or ... he small farm movement. that's what we're doing... in our early 60's, we're spending our retirement on a regenerative farm.
I’ve actually been thinking about this. Do a documentary getting into the politics behind farming in the US. Interview industry leaders on the industrial side as well
There is another huge benefit to soil building in the arid west. The huge landscapes will act as a sponge and provide more water to lakes and rivers. Those endangered salmon you hear about can benefit from quality grazing practices that reduce winter floods and improve summer water flows. Yes, this helps the beaver help the land in addition. It takes a whole watershed to heal land and water, not just a beaver pond. The video does need to do a better job to teach that the manure of the cattle breaks down the forage to create the topsoil along with the help of the soil biota.
**Hypocrisy** The individuals advocating for reduced meat consumption often travel by private jet, which generates a high level of pollution! Additionally, upon reaching their destination, they use a convoy of 10 cars or more for their security, further contributing to pollution. Are they truly concerned about the environment? These same individuals vehemently criticize cattle farming, meat consumption, and the agricultural industry. Why aren't they confronting the major fashion labels and clothing brands that produce thousands of items every day, fueling a relentless consumer system? Why aren't documentaries being made to criticize the high consumption of trivial products manufactured in China and sold online? Remember: clothes and trinkets can last for many years, while food is needed daily. Are they not targeting the wrong business?
love that doc idea. saved it in my notes. to add on, the high consumption of non quality products has to be shipped around the world, further contributing to pollution.
As a conservationist, beef is not the enemy. Destroying sustainable grasslands to make way for grains to only feed that grain to beef in a maximum population paddock is the enemy.
Great docco. It raises the elephant in the room. Saving our soil, our health, our earth, is more expensive than the alternative where in matters. On the shelf in front of the person buying it This problem is as crucial as any part of regenerative ag. I believe to get 100% of food production regenerative, we have to also bring the cost of food down. We have to get regenerative to be not only the cheapest option now but to continue to drive the price down further and make food over all cheaper.
So true. Exactly how F1 became a popular sport in the US because of the drive to survive series. It would be cool to make a series about lots of different farmers on a similar path as Will.
I get that, but CAFO style farming is really bad for the environment, regardless if it has to do with climate change. I actually want to try the carnivore diet soon!
He is right on the farming information he is giving. But there is not enough good farm ground left to provide the population with food. It takes both types of farming practices to keep the world feed.
Good farm land can be created as demonstrated in the documentary. Know any articles or research papers that have done the numbers that you can show me? I want to dive into it for the next documentary.
I have been getting my beef, lamb, and pork from White Oak Pastures for years. Wouldn't eat conventional meat from the grocery store if you gave it to me for free.
I buy direct from a local rancher here in Texas. We could easily have cattle on our property, but they would end up being pets. My wife would not be able to handle slaughtering cattle for food. She has 10 horses, goats, chickens, and 6 Great Pyrenees. Of course, all have names, and are her pets. So I buy what we need or trade for. I've known these local ranchers for 40+ years, so we all help each other.
I garden organically and the only meat I will buy has to say that it’s organic with NO hormones, no antibiotics, no steroids and no pesticides. I buy very little meat 🥩 because I can’t find much in my area that is organic, and I would rather go without it than buy 💩. Thank you 🙏🏻 White Oak Farms for continuing to farm with High Standards and Integrity and Morality. It makes a big difference, even if you don’t see it right now.
With the numbers of farm acreage shrinking and the number of actual farms lost in recent years were only making things worse. This video shows the solution and the evidence is overwhelming. If you go down the rabbit hole of this and not to mention the health benefits of more beef in your diet, you start to question a lot of things.
