I received the gift lately I find myself just praying in tongues for hours...then during my fast and prayer I received another gift which is singing in tougues

Hello pastor David. Years ago a Bishop came and stood next to me and my children in church and said that not all can speak in tongues. We felt like he was talking to us as we had just come into christianity from an indian religion. This effected us and years down the line we still haven't received the gift of speaking in tongues. Thank you for clarifying that the bible says that ALL received the holy spirit and spoke in tongues. Please pray for me and my children that we will be baptized in the Holy spirit. Well said David, there is a real lack of understanding in this area in the Church and you have done really well with this teaching.

Well, for me the resistance comes from being told that I have to speak in tongues. And I have to practice speaking in tongues and to open my mouth and make noise. Everyone around me was speaking at the same time and I didn't understand. Was told that God blesses tongue prayer over normal prayer. I was told that we will only speak in tongues in heaven. I was scolded and said I was prayed over for the gift of tongues and should be speaking in tongues by now! There was so much pressure to preform. I asked if this was something the Holy Spirit gives us or if it's something I cam activate by myself. 1 Corinthians 12 :11-12,14 Acts 2:4, as the Spirit gave. I have seen many strong men and women of the faith through Christ Jesus, lead and speak words of knowledge and bring a powerful Holy Spirit delivering message and more and they didn't speak in tongues. I was conflicted and confused. Do I believe the entirety of the Word of God is alive and active I do all the way. I think human beings have complicated things for people such as myself. I was told I had hidden sins(don't we all) Was not the case. Its possible that I am not really in the faith. Or saved. I don't tithe, I didn't get baptized, if you don't speak in tongues you don't have the Holy Spirit. You can't pray for anyone unless you pray in tongues. My prayers are without the power of the Holy Spirit. God moves swiftly when you pray in tongues. And so much more. Nobody ever responds when I ask questions. People have taken an authoritative position in other people's lives due to their personal experience and walk with God and face punching it as a given fact and truth. I can't walk around allowing myself or anyone else to compare their fruit to my walk with God. I believe that the Holy Spirit will give me the gift as He so chooses... Have I any clue what, how and when... Nope! But I can desire, pray and ask His will be done as it is written. ,

For those in the comments still looking for their language or doubting, if you haven't received your tongue from the Holy Spirit I recommend you watch a video called "Receive the Holy Spirit" by Derek Prince. I was a "Church goer" for 20+ years that didn't believe all disciples of Christ were supposed to receive the Holy Spirit but I watched that video and prayed the simple video at the end in faith and for the first time in 2 decades I was able to have a full tangible life changing encounter with the Holy Ghost. The only regret is the time I wasted in which I could have known him earlier. Don't be like me! The gift of the Holy Ghost is an iron sure promise from our Savior Jesus Christ. You are selling your Christian life short by not having your own personal direct line with God himself via the Spirit. God bless.

To answer your question, David, from my experience, it took me so long to speak in tongues because I didn't hear anyone explain it the way you did until I met the mother of Bayless Conley of Cottonwood Church. Actually, you explained it even better, but she helped open my mind. From what I saw when people would come forward to receive the baptism, I thought when the baptism happened . the person suddenly BURST INTO TONGUES without even trying. I saw this happen to my sister, a friend and some others. I expected my experience to be the same way. When I'd see some pastors egg on people to open their mouth and utter syllables, I thought it was "fake" baptism of the Spirit. That's why I didn't speak in tongues for many years, while wanting it so much. Only when Bayless' mother explained the whole thing to me did I finally decide to receive it by faith and speak in tongues by faith, believing that it's the Spirit praying through me.

Please pray for me I am from Jamaica 🇯🇲 when ever times the holy spirit teaches me and told me things when I ask my poster he says is saton telling me things and my church brothers and sisters and people my family says is saton telling me things when ppl sick they get better gives God the glory the holy spirit teaches me and told me that to keep myself to myself because I am too friendly he show me something before it happens , a what a God gives God the glory but the holy spirit show me about they are jealous of my gifts amen and amen 🙏

Great teaching! A lot if confusion concerning speaking in " tongues" centers on the fact that speaking in " tongues" is a great gift but it doesn't qualify as one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to Pauls' definition of the gifts that not all believers have. Paul said that, " But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal( 1Cor.12:7). The purpose of the gifts is so that everyone hearing or seeing the gifts operate may be edified. But speaking in " tongues" as our private prayer language only edifies us. " He that speaketh in an an unknown tongue edifies themself"(1Cor.14:4).

I didn't speak in tongues. I hope that I will do it some day. I believe in Holy Spirit gifts, but I don't want to focus in supernaturals manifestation, I want to keep looking only Jesus always. Not necessarily speaking tongues, especially not today because we have the complete message of God in the Bible in all 66 books from Genesis through revelation and in the last book along with the Psalms and in Deuteronomy it reads that we are not to add nor take away from the prophecy of this Book 📖. So everything we need to know prophetically it is all contained in the Bible and as long as we stay within the parameters of the Bible we are safe. However we all can speak in new tongues which is spiritually a tongue that the world cannot understand unless they are born again, because the Bible is a supernatural book and can only be understood through Supernatural Aid that Supernatural Aid is God the Holy Spirit Himself. So our new tongues is a spiritual language and we no longer have the worldly language this is why the world does not understand our language. Now the speaking of tongues in the upper room it's purpose was for all those people whom God in His sovereignty brought to that area where the upper room was, and each person there heard the gospel in his or her own language. Also the taken in of poison and it will not harm you is spiritually speaking of false Gospels that we will not drink or swallow because the Holy Spirit protects us from believing or receiving the poisoning of false Gospels. And the picking up of serpents is speaking of how Satan has nothing with us, and he cannot bite us with his lies, and one day in Jesus we will stump that old serpent Satan under our feet. We have the Great Commission Christ Jesus has given us to bring the remedy for the Sin sick souls, don't forget that Christ is The Great Physician.

There is something I never hear anyone talk about that I don’t understand…when we pray in tongues is The Holy Spirit only intervening for us personally or can we pray in tongues for other people, for our country, etc? Do I just tell Holy Spirit what I want to pray about before I start praying in tongues? Why doesn’t anyone talk about this?

Can every believer pray in tongues? Yes, specifically personal tongues. Not, necessarily prophetic or proof tongues. The Church I attend definitely believes speaking in tongues. There is so much more after Salvation (getting saved).

Just want to know, where are all the interpreters? I have heard people speak in tongues before, with no interpretation. So if an interpreter is required, where are they? I have never heard of someone having the gift of interpretation. Only speaking in tongues. Please help me to understand.

I been told spiritually I have an angel assigned to me and the biggest mission it has is to help me with autistic/disability problems and I do sometimes sense it, I prayed for it too to God. I got a lot of confirmations of God that it was of him. I’m thankful to see how God always supplies us with all beneficial stuff that will do us good 😊 Jesus is best of all though. When a person speaks in an unknown tongue for the first time; he is not exercising a Spiritual Gift, he is receiving the giver of the gifts. Paul says this about unknown tongues in, 1Co 14:21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. 1Co 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. in other words, there are two kinds of tongues those that can be understood and those that cannot be understood. Those that can be understood are called prophesying, and those that cannot be understood are a sign to let a person know without a doubt that they have received the Holy Ghost. This is to dispel all unbelief about receiving the Holy Ghost. In this sense, it serves the unbeliever who doesn't know if he has the Holy Ghost or not. Paul gives reference to, ISA 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. ISA 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. The rest is the Holy Ghost baptism. Reverse 28:11 to Matthew 11:28 and Jesus says, Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. if a person is not repented, and baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, they will not receive the Holy Ghost. Jesus said, "You must be born of the water and of the Spirit or you cannot enter the kingdom of God. The Holy Ghost is the kingdom of God.

Anyone can learn modern tongues-speech in relatively short order. It's a matter of overcoming any inhibitions about playing with the sounds of your language. Modern tongues-speech is non-cognitive non-language utterance; a completely self-created phenomenon.

Many ask their Priest or Pastor if speaking in Tongues as the Spirit gives utterance is needed to be Saved and they say something like, "Definitely not." Or they think something like, "I don't think I want to get involved with that speaking in Tongues type thing, that's a little too weird and hardcore for me." They say that because they don't know about the following scriptures, or have ignored them. Please note the information below is not taught at any Catholic or Protestant Church, nor is it taught at any Catholic or Protestant Seminary School, or at any Catholic or Protestant Divinity School. The following is some word for word scriptures about speaking in Tongues as the Spirit gives utterance: Jesus said in Mark 16:17,"And these signs shall follow them that believe, In my name shall they cast out devils, they shall SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES." Acts 9:17-18, (Paul's baptism) "And Ananias went his way and entered into the house, and PUT HIS HANDS ON HIM and said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto you in the way as you came, has sent me, that you might receive your sight, AND BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST. 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes that as it had been scales, he received his sight forthwith, and arose, and was BAPTIZED." Acts 10:44-48, (Peter speaking to Cornelius and those with him), "While Peter yet spake these words, THE HOLY GHOST FELL ON THEM which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, that on the Gentiles also was poured out the GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. 46 For they heard them SPEAK WITH TONGUES and magnify God, and then answered Peter. 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be BAPTIZED, which have received the HOLY GHOST as well as we. 48 And he commanded them to be BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD." In Acts 19:1-6, Paul met 12 believers in Ephesus and asked them, 2 Have you received the Holy Ghost since you BELIEVED? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were you baptized? And they said unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS. 6 And when Paul LAID HIS HANDS ON THEM, the Holy Ghost came on them, and they SPOKE WITH TONGUES and prophesied." Those scriptures prove that just because a person is a believer does not mean they are automatically saved, and just because a person is a believer does not mean they automatically have the Holy Ghost. Jesus said in John 7:38-39,"He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER. 39 But this he spoke of the SPIRIT, which they that believe on him should receive, for the HOLY GHOST was not yet given, because that Jesus was not yet glorified." Paul said in Galatians 1:12 that he was not taught by any man, but was taught by Jesus himself, which means that everything Paul said was exactly what Jesus told him to say. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:2,"He that SPEAKS IN AN UNKNOWN TONGUE EDIFIES HIMSELF...." Paul said that Jesus said in 1 Corinthians 14:21,"In the law it is written, With men of other TONGUES and other lips will I speak unto this people, and yet for all that, THEY WILL NOT HEAR ME, saith the Lord." Verse 39 says, "Wherefore brethren, covet to prophesy, AND FORBID NOT TO SPEAK WITH TONGUES." The following scriptures prove that when a person speaks with tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, it is at that moment the Spirit of Christ initially dwells in them: Paul said in Galatians 3:27,"For as many of you as have been BAPTIZED into Christ HAVE PUT ON CHRIST." Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:22,"Wherefore TONGUES are for a SIGN (or PROOF they received the Holy Ghost)...." Paul said in Romans 8:11,"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies BY HIS SPIRIT THAT DWELLS IN YOU." That is referring to being raised up to meet Jesus in the air at the Rapture which is referred to in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, which Paul also wrote. If a person has not been baptized in Jesus Name, meaning Jesus Name is invoked at baptism which is Acts 2:38, Acts 8:14-18, Acts 8:38, Acts 9:17-18, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 16:33, Acts 18:7, Acts 18:8, Acts 19:3-5, and Acts 22:16 - which all of those WERE FOR THE REMISSION OF SIN, (Acts 2:38) and has not been baptized with Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit, they will not have that Spirit that will allow them to meet Jesus in the air at the Rapture, and therefore not be Saved. All the above is exactly what Jesus meant in John 3:7,"You MUST be born again." In John 3:5 he said, "Verily, verily I say unto you, Except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God." Regarding Baptism - Jesus said in Mark 16:16,"He that believes and is BAPTIZED shall be saved, but he that believes not shall be damned." There Jesus links not being baptized with damnation. Being born of water is being immersed in water (baptized) in Jesus Name, being born of the Spirit is being baptized with the Holy Ghost. If you are convinced you need to get Baptized in water in Jesus Name and get Baptized with the Holy Ghost, do a search, type in "United Pentecostal Church International", scroll slightly down to just below the red box, type in your zip code, then a screen will show a Church nearest you that will do that. If you do all of the above you will be making SURE your name is written in the Lamb's Book Of Life. . No Catholic Church will do it because they condemn water baptism in Jesus Name and declared it INVALID in the New Catholic Encyclopedia Volume 2, page 66, the Catholic Encyclopedia, also in Catholic Catechism 232, 233, and 1226-1284, and also in Chapter 7 of the 16 chapter Catholic Didache. No Protestant Church will do it because they teach water baptism is not needed, but Jesus said in Mark 16:16,"He that believes and is BAPTIZED shall be saved, but he believes not shall be damned. "They also say baptism was not done in Jesus Name, and that it is a "Outer sign of an inner change", but all of the above proves it MUST be done in Jesus Name. Some say the Thief on the Cross next to Jesus was not baptized but Jesus told him he would be with Him that day in Paradise. Jesus had not given the COMMANDMENT to be Baptized in water in His Name until after he rose from the dead and just before He ascended into heaven. The Thief or anyone else at that time could not have done it because they did not know about it. Jesus said in John 10:37," My Sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
