So Faker won worlds the other week. He beat the final boss of League of Legends after chasing his 4th title for 7 years.
He’s said he has no plans to retire and we’ve heard that T1 are keeping the dream team together for 2024.
But other teams are already making moves to try and snatch back the crown. So the question is - could Faker do it all again?

the problem is people don't understand the impact he has on their team. he doesn't need to frag/make big plays all the time, his presence in that team alone is carrying them. on top of that, he's still one of the most intelligent and mechanically best mid-laners in the world. people don't see him on highlight reels and call him washed when he's quite the opposite. edit: on top of this, we ain't just gonna ignore game 3 of finals and the fact he's still pulling off good plays every series AND having gold advantage against his laners almost every game too?

it isn't unfair to believe faker is washed. In his previous performances he was out performed by many of the newer younger mid laners. To be fair he still got outperformed and is usually not doing much to boost his team ahead in many games. Often when T1 wins it is not because of his performance but his teammates performances. But yea it's clear that the team is uncomfortable with switches with the team, that would happen with any team. Maybe he is a great team leader, but from a objective stand point as a viewer and a analyst, it is often analyzed that he doesn't do much for the team and is a weak point when they enter games.

No one can understand this game more than Faker, he was sure the first player played with heavy macro and opened a new era for LCK and League of Legends. Why is Faker the only SKT T1/T1 player to be brought into the main squad immediately without going through a trainee period? Because of his intelligence in the game. Dopa in his stream used to say that the scariest about Faker was his macro. If you have technique, you can win 1v1 but if you are clever, you will win the game.

Faker may not appear to have the same flair as he once did, but he has literal expertise AND prestige to keep him on the pedestal that he earned. He really is the Lionel Messi/Tom Brady/Kobe Bryant of LoL. You can honestly cast “doubt” on him as a 27 year old pro, but you cannot deny just how good he actually is when you see the amount of trophies the man has. Hell, this season alone shows just how important and impactful he is just by merely participating for his team. He’s just that good not only on the technical/mechanical level for the game, but also his charisma as the star player/GOAT of his team. He won’t win every season, but you know you’ll always be watching to see how far he gets.

Also worth mentioning, now that I’ve watched the video, how stellar the T1 squad is. Zeus had a rather shaky 2022 and could have been considered the weakest of his team. This year he blossomed into arguably one of the stars of T1 with him getting the MVP of worlds finals. He deserved it as a testament to his growth. Oner was the shadow of the team, not too flashy but good. Then Game 3 against JDG happened and showed he is so well in tune with his team, honestly Oner was the real MVP T1 this entire Worlds in a lot of ways. Gumayusi was already on watch from last year from those legendary Varus Baron snipes, but the sheer volume of flexibility this man has is unmatched. I think he played the most unique number of champs this year out of the entire player pool and WON on so many of them. He freakin’ won on Jhin who wasn’t even Meta during worlds! Keria is really the backbone of the team as the dude is literally a support GOD. He would be my other choice for T1s MVP for worlds overall. When you have the literal GOAT and last year’s ADC World champ calling you the best Support player, you know how good this guy is. Could’ve been the NewJeans/Hanni buff though.

I mean JDG Game 3 was arguably the highlight match for T1 this worlds. Oner’s Dragon Pit engage into Faker Azir Divide as spectacular and Faker’s revenge engage into Ruler with Oner was just beautiful to watch live.

The thing is, Faker is an essence in League. League would never be the same without him. He just as much breathes and everyone freaks out. It doesn't matter if he's not in his original form nor the meta has changed so much for him to still be on top, because he will always be the greatest player to ever grace this game. Heck, he even transformed himself so many times to evolve in the game. A flashy assassin, a playmaker, a leader, and, now, a senior. He deserves everything, not to mention, he was never toxic and was always humble.

T1 Keeping winning Worlds roaster together is also extraordinary feat. Money alone won't be able to do this because there'll be an offer from rich team that T1 will never be able to match. The fact that player decided... against their own financial gain just to stick with Faker is showing how much his leadership and charisma matter to the team.

@@user-uc7gk4ch6s Honestly, I'm a rocket league player as well, and the "THEY LIKE THOSE ODDS" holds as much weight for me as "THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE!" and "FAKER? WHAT WAS THAT!?" Shit hit hard when they had to face the Titans and picked them off 1 by 1. Faker's azir ult on Ruler was the most satisfying thing I've ever seen in League. Even more than his play against Ryu (and I'm a Zed 1-trick) simply because of 2017. League is peaking again

Faker is the brains of the operation. Just look at those 4 players when he was injured, they couldnt beat the worst teams in the LCK and probably wouldnt have qualified if he didnt comeback while he was still recovering as well.

Not just that. He is their anchor. He holds the team steady in rough waters while they get the bearings. Once they get their bearings right, this team is literally unstoppable. But they can be shaken, that’s why Faker is so important. Game 3 T1 va JDG. After few bad fights and losing baron. JDG was up 8K and pushing down mid. The fight looked rough, even Oner said so. But Faker said he would find an angle. And he did. The rest is history.

Money, mostly. And some teams just can't develop chemistry no matter how much they try. Achievements also take part in it. Lastly some people just want to soft retire and move to NA.

It's all about the money. The Korean Exodus a while ago happened, because Chinese organizations offered absurd contracts to all the top Korean talent. The whole reason Faker is part-owner of T1 was due to him being offered crazy money by Chinese teams. That was the only way T1 could keep him from leaving.

Simple money mostly for older players they need the money and if they can get paid well enough they would join the team reason why lck players often go to na eu or lpl simply cus the other company is offering everything for them and with the salary cap now getting the highest pay given to you shows just how much the other company is willing to sign you in t1 is diff in the sense that faker is a defi permanent member because he is literally a owner of t1 and that the current team roster is super close to each other guma himself would prob never go to another team unless faker leaves and partly because his father won’t allow him to either being his agent

Now, even though some of these frightening LCK rosters look disgustingly strong and surely they'll contest T1 in splits, it's different at worlds. Either the other teams just somehow consistently choke out like Gen G or they get molested by LPL teams. People seem to think Faker isn't all that, but he seems to make a lot of the calls and keeps them all calm in the middle of heated games, he's an impressive leader, basically like CSGO having IGLs, and he can perform when it's necessary.

@@Dornaden from what i've seen, t1 has had a lot of problems in the pick/ban, and the coach they have now started cooking up some good drafts. They also had some roster problems where they had 10 players and the coach at the time was doing some weird shenanigans with the lineup. Their current lineup was strong last year when they did away with the 10 player roster. They almost won worlds (lost 3-2 in finals), and they came back and swept the competition this year.

@@DornadenEven with their losses, at least they get to the finals every tournament except for MSI 2023 where they are still in 3rd place. Can you compare that to any other teams? T1 can never be counted out at worlds. They are very quick to adapt to the meta and I’m sure that Faker’s experience at international tournaments plays a big role in it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take it home again next year now that the whole team showed that they can be in worlds form.

In terms of mechanics, all pro players, in general, are equal. The edge Faker has over everyone else is his vast experience. The dude has been through all the metas and is still playing at the highest level.

I definitely think stomping the finals 3-0 was the turning point for the team staying on T1. If you're on T1, with the only other player to achieve back to back, and the most World titles, and you stomp the finals, that's probably the team that is going to win the next year, too.

8:44 Technically 4 players; Bengi, Faker, Bang and Wolf. Marin won Worlds 2015 with SKT, then they brought in Duke for 2016 for top lane. As well as Easyhoon in for only 2015 and Blank in 2016

I'm pretty sure Faker will stop if its a red light, a STOP sign, a Yield sign, or a pedestrian is crossing. Edit: Faker has banner of command IRL, he uses it on his teammates. It's just that the CD was nerfed, it's been on cool down for 6 years.

T1 doesn't have to do anything for me from now on. I wished for 1 more title for Faker and even though I'll be rooting for him as long as he plays I won't be mad now if someone else makes it. I think that fan expectations might be higher but they at the same time won't be as hard on the players when they're in a slump. ...I'm still hopeful for next year😅

6:45 I want to make a correction and say that most of the hate comments didn’t come from T1 fans. I know their fans are notorious for being toxic and annoying, but T1 fans in Korea will literally hate on everyone else EXCEPT Faker. So it doesn’t make sense for them to be the ones to be sued by him. Regular LCK “fans” in Korea (and just internet trolls/incels in general who don’t even care about League) have been making VERY inappropriate hate comments about Faker and his family over the past few years. It’s become a type of sport for them, centered around sites like dcinside or fmkorea where there are little to no mods.

@@jao704 What? You don't watch the LCK then. They are very good in splits. They only lose to GenG in Finals but that Gen.G has disbanded. Different teams now. Spring '22 = They went 18-0 Summer '22 = They went 15-3 Spring '23 = They went 17-1 Summer '23 = 9-9 (when Faker left them for half the split and had Poby) How are these results "not that good"

@@jao704 Yeah, GenG was the only team that consistently stopped T1 from winning damn near every split. With that roster gone (though 3 of them are on the new HLE roster), there really isn't much to stop T1 from being absolutely dominant next year.

@@jao704 Not good? They won LCK spring 2023 with 1 lose and got 3rd in MSI 2023 because they lose to JDG in semis and in LCK Summer 2023 they almost have a miracle comeback but got stomped by GenG in Finals.

A year is just... such a long-ass time in league of legends. Riot limiting league to 1.5 international tournaments a year is a travesty for the development of minor regions and even the continued dominance of a team like T1.

The reason why geng cant make it is because. They show everything they got even at the start. Thats why they are winning msi, lck. So when world comes other teams have already studied their play style, picks and etc. But look at t1 if you have notice they are picking and not banning best champs of other pro players. It only shows they are practicing on different kind of scenarios for worlds. And if you guys have also noticed they picks different kinds of champs in finals or semis. They are hiding trump cards. Thats why they are consistent being always 2nd if not winning it all. Coz other teams dont have the time to study them if they show different kind of picks and plays

T1 has a roster advantage over the other teams, so the only thing they need to focus on is improving their mechanics, and how they can spice things up for next season. If they can keep up the level of play they did at Worlds this year, they can probably win some trophies next year.
