All jokes aside Randy Shannon burned a lot of bridges with high school coaches especially in South Florida. He is of the mindset that the kids should want to play for him; therefore, he doesn’t have to recruit them.
@@brianwilkinson356 Well, I'm a Canes fan. I only see him leaving Miami for a DC job, which will happen at some point in the future. He's that talented. I could see Cristobal making him and Jason Taylor Co-DCs. Norvell would have to make D Nich a DC. These guys are professionals. He's not coming home to FSU for a lateral move unless the money was just too good to pass up and Miami will pay more whatever the number is.

JT is not that talented as coach and he has no clue how to call a defensive scheme. You had me until you said his name. He's a good recruiter and he's only using his name for that which I don't blame him. I'm a Phins fan so I love JT but he's never going to be a DC. The DTs Coach has a better chance of being named Co-DC or a DC in the future
First of all, FSU is about $30 million dollars short of SEC schools money.. Secondly, the coach at Arkansas is on the hotseat to keep his job and they thru an astronomical amount of money at that kid.. he would have been crazy to turn it down and FSU really couldn't afford to match it.. but the way i look at it, it was smart on their part.. Arkansas and Florida both will probably have losing seasons which will more than likely result in their head coaches getting fired.. then the recruits that really wanted to come to FSU can come and they got the money wanted too.. it's a win win
@shawnandrews329 Personally, I don't think Coach Shannon knows how develop relationships with these young players.. I think he's great at developing talent.. but ABSOLUTELY SUCKS AT RECRUITING.. Recruitment is all about building relationships and he doesn't have those type of skills.. gonna have to get a LB coach or assistant coach that can better relate to these LB candidates.. I think if we can get them to sign then he can make them great. 🤷🏾♂️
At some point you do have to look at Norvell since he is the head man and he get's paid millions to make the right decisions but with all of that said we all know Norvell doesn't like to fire coaches and if you look at every other position coach on our staff they are all killing it in recruiting right now at their respective positions. We had this same issue with Odell and Dugans just a couple years ago as I'm sure most die hard fans remember but now look at both of them. They have both totally redeemed themselves in my eyes and I know with plenty of other fans to period! Coach Shannon on the other hand hasn't been able to recruit and close on elite LB's out of the high school ranks since he's been at FSU and that is just SAD as hell. He is a really good development coach but he has to be able to wear two hats and that's coaching and recruiting at a big brand school like FSU plain and simple! Not to defend Shannon but he was just like this at every team he's ever coached at so I've heard multiple times so again that's a really bad look on Coach Shannon. I'm not sure Ernie Sims would be a better recruiter but I would have to thank so but there's just no way to know that at this point. At some point you have to look at Norvell but in my opinion this is still on Shannon no doubt about it! I'm not sure what Mike does from here but I will say that I truly believe that Wallace will end up being a Nole when it's all said and done. I heard from a very good source or sources I should say that Arkansas didn't offer Wallace more than we did on the NIL. But losing 3 blue chip LB's in the last 4 days is pathetic and also a very bad look. We will be living in the portal for LB's in the next 2 years unfortunately but on a more positive note we should be fine at LB for the next 2 seasons so a lot of things can happen from now until signing day. All in all something has to give with Shannon and I don't know exactly what that should be but Norvell needs to take a hard look at Randy. Shannon didn't get DLo out of high school and Bethune was a transfer but Shannon was a big reason he came to FSU but again we're talking about recruiting out of high school and Shannon is by far our weakest link period! The numbers don't lie! Shannon is selective with recruits on his white board but there were a couple other LB's that were really good that we didn't go after but I'm telling you right now that there is no way that we will flip TJ Alford from OSU so Randy better prove his worth on our staff and he better prove it really quick now, just saying! I do still feel like Wallace will end up being a Nole when it's all said and done if not this 2025 class then he will be a transfer by 2026 when Arkansas fires HC Sam Pittman along with the rest of their staff. I think Nix sticks to Miami and Rainey-Sale will stick to Washington especially cuz that's just so far away. Anyways only time will tell but something has to give cuz you know Norvell already knows everything we are talking about in these posts and on this video. We shall see but I still feel we'll be just fine all in all. I trust everything that Mike does with this team and his staff so hopefully we see some kind of change sooner rather than later! #GoNoles
Please give me a coach at the linebacker position that can coach and RECRUIT, too!!! Upgrade your staffing position ASAP, Ernie Simms is a great start, but they need help with this situation.... it's getting embarrassing and irritating as well. What is the shortest and quick fix?
Listen to Head Coach Mike Norvell talk. Listen to Coach Surtain talk. Listen to Coach A talk. Then listen to Shannon talk. The difference, Shannon is low energy, low volume, zero excitement. Shannon is old, outdated, does not relate to the youth of today.
FSU’s LB recruiting had been horrendous for years. Coach Norvell is to blame now for not replacing Coach Shannon. FSU is going nowhere with 3-star LBs, No Where !!!!!!
OK, let's keep this 100%!!! Ya'll can sit here and try to make it seem like Randy ain't doing his job if you want to. I, however, will look at it from the truth. FSU missed out of these recent recruits because of the uncertainty that's going on with their program in terms of where they will possible end up come next season, etc. This program and the people who make the world go around at FSU should have sat down and put their arrogance on the burner for a few ticks and looked at the big picture. I said it way back when this whole thing started about them moaning and groaning, wanting to get out of the ACC that this was not a good look for the program and that recruiting would possibly suffer. I know that we're still a ways out and all but let's be real here. Unless something drastic happens here, FSU will be in a very bad situation if they don't pick up this recruiting and pick it up quickly.
Do Fsu fans and coaches not think or believe there's a hard nosed LBs coach at a smaller school or level that wouldn't jump at the chance of coming to Fsu to coach and recruit! This is ridiculous! I'm sure nobody's settling when its time to get a new contract for the most money! This is the arrogance that KEEPS Fsu from being ELITE consistently AGAIN! This is not the Bowden years with a tenured 15 year staff get AJ Nicholson, Ernie Sims and Buster Davis on staff ASAP!!
Shannon was never a good recruiter. He recruited well 1 year at Miami 2008 class. After that horrible. He was so bad he lost relationships with just about every high school coach in the area when he was done. A piece of rubber has more personality
Follow the money! Jerry Jones money! There's more prestige and money in the power 2 conferences so until FSU leaves the ACC they will continue to have a hard time recruiting the top recruits!!!
Brian Randy is doing an Outstanding Job! Coming From A Canesfan , we are very Happy with our LB Coach that happens to be ironically from FSU. They are both doing Brilliant Jobs😊 !! Nix & Melendez are not that good 😌 ❤️🩹Feel better?
