I think what Calvin is struggling rn is how fast his release are like it's slow and easy to guard so when the defender are there he hesitates to take it. I feel like they just need to say to him na ibato mo lang ng ibato hanggang may pumasok na isa. There's no question about his shooting it's just maybe his mind. Cause all i can see him now is like a B+ defender and not a scorer. They just need to give him opportunity and plays na tira lang siya ng tira ng tres.

If I were to pick a PG in a perfect situation, I'd get Panopio. With his decent height, European experience, high basketball IQ and defense, he can fit well with CTC's system.

Tamayo just need to play more for me he looks still a little awkward nag improve pero mukha pa den siyang kaka galing lang sa college. Sayang kasi di siya na gamit masyado sa B League kaya siguro medyo bumagal growth niya. Good decision sa KBL na European Style nilalaro pasahan bola may tres mga bigs wala masyadong iso play.

Our defense needs to close down more on 3 point shooters .. lessen our turnovers to 5-10, improve our free throws and have a perfect triangle offense.. we have a good chance sa OQT...good luck gilas..

Less turnovers, good percentage in free throw. Latvia is really strong and better in almost every aspect of the game but one of the advantage of gilas is rebounding and inside. As long as jun mar and kai can tighten the defense and score effectively, we have a chance. Kai needs to grow, the tantrums is very noticeable kapag di nabibigyan. Mas kalmado mas productive Siya. On the other hand, I think perez should step up. Newsome will focus on defense. Ramos is more effective at 2. Lastly, expect brownlee to be a marked man, but I do believe he will do well despite of that. More help from the locals then we can have a better chance to upset Latvia and Georgia. for me, We need not just true point guard but better ball handler, kita nman sa mga tune up games ng gilas na gumagamit ng full court press ang europeans. Kaya nagkakaroon ng maraming turn overs.

Dapat iwasan ang maraming turn over, ipasok ang mga free throws, set up sa 3 points , set up ng play, less dribble and be smart at confident sa laban wag yung takot tumira at umatake show nila ang pagiging athletic nila.

A big imprrovement with this current Gilas Pilipinas team under Coach Tim Cone than from the previous ones. They just need to minimize their turnovers and sharpen their free throws and 3 point shooting. Have extra effort on defense. They can do it. Alexander Konov a deadly 3 point shooter is available, to include Jordan Heading, Matthew Wright and Will Navarro should be included for the Gilas Pilipinas next time.

European players are trained position-less Bigs can do what Guards can. They can dribble, ball handle, pass the ball very well , shoot threes everything. That's what separate them from Asia. And their move doesn't look awkward and it's like they're just unconscious and never hesitates.

As long as they work on their 3 pt shooting and Free Throws and limit their turnovers especially live ball turnovers that potentially feed the opponent's transition game, kakayanin nila. Those Free Throws mental din yan since the atmosphere in Latvia will for sure be so rowdy. I hope they can be mentally tough to resist the noise while shooting Free Throws.

If that OQT game against Serbia is the bar that's set, which, i think should be, then this Gilas team should beat Latvia. Baldwin had an all amateur team, including RJ and Tamayo who just came out of highschool, Kai Sotto who was just 19 and has played his last competitive basketball at age 17, a raw Angelo Kouame at the naturalized player spot, and a Dwight Ramos missing the tournament. This squad is missing AJ Edu tho so, well, at least a very close game. Anything less than that, you gotta question SBP's choice.

We filipinos can so be cruel and insensitive sometimes, a lot of basketball fans have prematurely "judged" some of our players like CJ, Oftana, Tamayo and even D. Ramos, which is really unfair. I mean, who cares if we lost those 2 tune-up games. The thing that matters most are the 2 OQT games, not the 2 friendlies. Let's judge them after the games and not before.

Gilas is stronger than before. we have big boy Fajardo, King Kai Sotto, Justin Brownlee the brain Tim Cone, and the rest of the Gilas boys.

Tamayo has enough toughness to play the four position. KQ doesn't have that so he's limited to the SF position, which happens to be Brownlee's spot. And KQ doesn't have the quickness to play SF at the elite level, not yet. If AJ Edu is playing, i think Gilas can get away with KQ defending against wings
