I recently had this problem with grimgor playing as helman ghorst I came up against unbreakable regening grimgor.

There is a really good mod that does that, I never play without it

I'm playing that at the moment and I'm sick of fighting Skaven, still haven't wiped them out and I'm up to I think turn 70 or 80 now! It truly is a vermintide. It has been really tough to hold though thankfully I had confederated north and held my ground and slowly retreated until I got my grail knights recruit capacity then started to properly charge the little ratty's in to oblivion. I'm not very good at this game but I'm playing on Very Hard / Very Hard for the first time in this campaign and it can be a pretty great feeling when you get a decisive defeat notice before battle and you end up winning. Even managed my first heroic victory in one of them, couldn't do it without Grail Knights though they're pretty OP just run them around seperate them to single units and charge them down. I also hate the way the Skaven do that ambush attack so you can only use one army. Little rat bastards. haha. I lost interest in this game previously, I guess I only really care about playing as Bretonnia and Empire, maybe High Elves but the map is so huge and you have to travel so so far to conquer the world but the Old World Mod has totally re-invigorated my desire to play the game. I'll do an Empire campaign after I finish my Bret one. I've played Karl Franz before but maybe will do Volkmar or Balthasar. We'll see.

​@@davecolwell725 you've just reinvigorated my desire to try it again lol, I play on legendary and I tried her start like 4 times but kept failing to be able to push into either Skaven clans land while also being able to defend my land BUT you just gave me an idea: I should just defend my land until I get grail knights!!! Man I dunno why I felt the need to try and be so aggressive lol

Archeon would not only be at almost full strength himself and possibly able to instantly recruit some units and regiment units and more or less able to instantly attack again, but since Archeon would have beaten Gotrek he would get the Unbreakable talent and become even harder to deal with, and Archeon would have gotten a lvl up or 2

Yeah, some Lords early on are rather strong, but not really. When it gets this late into the campaign, the game's characters and AI also start to level and add their own attributes to their Lords. In this case, Archaon is incredibly powerful, as he is level 20 already, and as you saw, has powerful spells. At this point, he can solo 1v1 any of your own characters, regardless if you also have leveled yours up. Sometimes some characters outbeat others no matter what. So, some Lords can become "One Man Doom Stack". They take little damage, their AoE spells can solo entire armies, and they can out-regen any damage they also take. You can check out some videos he covers about this. This applies to you as well, the player, you can make your own character insanely powerful, that he doesn't even need an army, but that takes time.

Legend does checkerboard all the time. In this battle he had to set up very quickly so he didn't have time (or space) to set up a nice checkerboard while microing everything else.
