Totally agree! With the caveat that for a lot of ISPs, the external IP address will stay potentially for years, and through OSINT, during discovery, I've found both infrastructure and people using leaked data from places like dehashed or snusbase - the IP address, I agree will give a vague vicinity, but certain edge cases can result in a doxx.
Your phone ip address can always be with you if you don't have home internet and use phone internet everywgere I go. You can be tracked without your locations turned on..
this can still depend on whether your ISP changes your ip address after certain cycles since sometimes that may not be the case, which in that case a hacker can identify a public ip address to be traffic coming from a certain person (packet sniffing). So i’d say it is MOSTLY the case that a hacker cannot figure out your private ip address unless they were to compromise ur network internally.
@@notafbihoneypot8487 yep. That's the part I forgot to include there, unless they hacked the ISP or they get a date breach then IDK how they're gonna get that info. Maybe social engineering techniques, this is how the FBI knocks on your door right. Thank you
Yeah........no, with a specific device let's say they set it to WiFi and you click on that they can get your password and email. Therefore acessing all your accounts including your house/home address. They can also track totally online if you give them anything as simple as the first few letters of your password/email they can run it millions of times through a computer to get your password. So in conclusion yes, Yes they can get your home address.
Remember on xbox two days ago this guy killed me in rdr2 so i killed him so he invited me to a party and said "thanks for your ip address" i laughed in his face and left party
Um they find your access point like your home router an either geo locate u stake out the area because it wont be an exact location or hack the isp much more difficult but possible. Also can hack your network install malware on your machine find your location. If a skilled individual wanted to find you they could.
@shenetworks well there are multiple way but I'm going to give you the most commonly used hack/scam so basically a phishing scam, they send you an email about something you like because they have been checking out your social media you click the link lets say it's buy nike shoes 50 percent off you click the link and malware is installed in your computer. Now that they have full remote control its as simple as going into cmd and typing ipconfig and now they have your ip. But that is just one of multiple ways. Tbh I'm still a beginner 1 year of experience so others here probably know crazy ways of getting it. Honestly just checked out your channel you seem like you probably are more advanced than me so please correct me if I'm wrong 🙂
Even that information is not accurate. Geolocation isn’t based on the internet protocol functionality. Geolocation is best effort done by third party companies.
You are wrong on this one. Can they use your IP address to get a 10digit grid coordinate? No. Can they track you back to your ISP and region? Yes. The good ones can get even closer. But that takes more than just an IPv4 address.
@@manoj-kumar394 It does NOT give exact location. Educate yourself before you start embarrassing yourself here. With IP you can only get a rough estimate of where the IP is. For example, a city or a perimeter of 2-3 miles from the exact location. IP’s are connected directly to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) however a member of the public cannot access that information. Only law enforcement can request that information in which case the ISP will gladly hand over exact details ie coordinates, device and who is registered with that IP. Hope this helped with clearing things up :)
Yoooo u helped me bc someone said he has my ip (which was wrong he didnt have mine) and now i dont have tl worry anymore he said he had all my data and accounts
@@shenetworks gimme your IP and I will tell you what town you live in or are near and if you have a windows computer then gimme that IP because then I will have a higher chance of telling you your location
Ok but like that's an "if" because IF your at a different place and you need internet your right they can't find you but if your at your house and they try to hack you then your gonna need a VPN or smth
Wrong answer Wait until you get hacked for real before responding I got hacked on my iPad hacker spied on me for days able to look at my screen when I was online without me knowing
@@shenetworksidk how u can be bothered responding to all these people claiming that you can track through ip 😂. Also where did u start learning about cyber security. Im doing HTB crest path as im aiming to get the certificate but idk if its the best way.
Im absolutely not :) but you are more than welcome to review the entire RFC for the internet protocol. Let me know which section outlines location tracking.
@@notafbihoneypot8487 Yeah, i'd agree with you. I think THE MOST the hacker could get is like your state or city? I always thought of it like a postal code that zones an area, with the second last octet representing your house and the last octet reserved for your devices. Im not sure, im still learning lol.
@agnesjanasz5330 You're the wrong one here. With IP you can only get a rough estimate of where the IP is. For example, a city or a perimeter of 2-3 miles from the exact location. Let’s me introduce you to the NSA 😂 they can get whatever information they wish just by calling your isp. If you’re using a vpn they’re required by law to hand over information if requested. You’re not private online and yea you can be tracked
