Can Holy Communion harm us during the pandemic? 

Communion was once held in houses and caves. Head of house held communion. It was much more simple in the beginning.

Lack of faith and wearing a mask when approaching the holy communion is what gets one sick. It's blasphemous. But if one obtains holy communion in 100% faith, one will not get sick. Plus spiritual corruption will get one sick. Holy things are for the holy.

@@icxcnika2037 I agree with you! One must fast and pray and be prepared to receive the sacramental gifts. I've never gotten sick from partaking of holy communion. However, that doesn't mean come to church when you're sick. If I'm sick I stay home... but I won't blaspheme the lord by wearing a face mask in His holy temple. I was guilty of it in the past... lord forgive me. I won't do it again! God revealed to me the truth. We are witnessing a lack of faith by wearing masks in the temple.

@@audreyarbuckle9175 the Holy Archdiocese and the Ecumenical Patriarchate said to wear a mask in church. If it is cold in the church, do you wear a jacket to protect yourself from the cold? Have you ever thought that the church protects us from cold? Same thing. A saint said that if the church tells us to do something, even if it is wrong (which in very rare cases it is) we have to listen to it in order to be saved. The church has authority, and we need to be completely obedient.

@@vasiliskaranos605 My church also said to do confession over THE PHONE and or a ZOOM CALL!!! Am I supposed to listen and do a CONFESSION over the phone or zoom? Knowing very well that it's being recorded and not private. How does the absolution happen?

@@vasiliskaranos605 and being cold in church is not blasphemous... but covering ones face is an expression of lack of faith. We are not to cover our faces in church.

If you have not committed serious sins, especially breaking the 10 Commandments, you may want to prepare with fasting and prayer and then receive. As soon as you have an opportunity for Confession, go for Confession, as well. But the best thing is to consult with your spiritual father ahead of this if you are able to speak with him. Holy Communion is "for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting" for those who approach with the "Fear of God, with Faith and Love". (Fr. Panayiotis)

Who is the king? Jesus. Who are the generals appointed by the king? The bishops. The bishops assembly is called THE SYNOD in which the will of God is expressed, and they told us to wear masks. Do you not need to wear a jacket to protect yourself from cold in church? Likewise the mask protects you from Covid. Whether you are afraid of the virus yourself, does not matter taken into account that wearing the mask is loving our neighbor. You are protecting your neighbor from getting infected like this.

The spoon is an instrument to convey the Body and Blood of Christ from the Holy Chalice to your mouth. The spoon is not a threat to you because it is itself covered with the body and blood of Christ. It is itself transformed by that, as you also will be, if you believe this is indeed the live giving Body and Blood of Christ.

The church itself has given us orders to wear masks in church. We do not protest to the instructions of the church. The church is the body of Christ, and we are to follow everything that the church tells us to do, whether we agree with it or not.

@John Nada How can you say it is "blasphemous"? Did any council forbid masks? Did any of the holy synods around the world forbid the masks? Are they all wrong and you are right?
