FYI: If you crouch, the NPCs will also crouch, and usually won't fire on enemies. The NPC team added this for players who are playing stealth - if you're crouching to be stealthy, you don't want NPCs to Leroy Jenkins into the POI. So if your avatar's body stands up, they should also stand up and start fighting.
its the bars thats the issue. your bakes don´t wanna shoot though it, hence they aim outside or past it. also using your position as a power position, you can utilize the bakers better. 1. Having them stand next to you, all shooting at the same zombies. 2. Using latters to make zombies slower. I kinda deem this test unvalid But thx anyway. WW was fun to watch
Pretty sure NPCs can't see through blocks. Even if they can shoot though them if there's a block they can't "see" through the blocks so they won't properly target zombies past them. Maybe try setting up a 3 block tall barrier and leave the middle block empty? Also I think they can see though blocks you can melee though, like half blocks or scaffolding ladders.
petition to make a series called "primitive" and use only primitive weapons and armor. Or a series called "regression" where you give yourself all tier 6, and each week it goes down a tier, armor and weapons
Great idea Josh, I learned Alphas ago (ok a20) that to position them, to get the to face in the right direction you have to place them somewhere (like on frames in front of the bars) stand on the platform where you want them to stand facing the way you want them to face then say "stand where I'm standing." Since you used bars you couldn't do that. It's a thing in the Rebirth mod (which is still not ready for a21). Also a better "path" would have been 11+ up with them zig zagging back and forth in front of the NPCs. Lastly, the pillars need to be the "metal truss" block because they are blocks that you can shoot through. Been using that one since my brother insists on using shotguns.
I know there’d be some people who’d freak because it’s “same old base”, but a killing corridor would have rinsed that horde. Could have made yourself a reading room and kicked your feet up while the Busts and Baking Crew wrecked shop.
I think putting all the box’s at the end for a more focused fire would have been better, the firepower being spread out is just letting those rads regen
Josh, I love how you keep bringing back the baker boys, and the lovely deedee! Im truly gonna miss this crew! The trouble you get into with these handsome fellas is legendary. ♡♡♡
Great video Woodle! I would love to see the challenge with a craft only series. Maybe you have to make the loot-quantity to x2 so you get enough magazines to make it work 😊
Need some kind of killing corridor where the NPCs can only look in the direction that the Zombies are coming from/along, block off their view anywhere else. Overlapping firing and not being able to be distracted would probably be far better with those NPCs, you might not need the maze even that way, even better if you can manage to get them weapons that do piercing.
Josh, because you was crouched, the NPC were crouched as well and being stealthily like you, you needed to be standing so the NPC's would shoot everything then.
That's a really cool concept. I wish they had actually turned around and shot a bit more LOL Something was obviously wrong with them, so you might have survived the night. Awesome horde night build though!
No Shoot the Duck corridor of death?!? Unacceptable!!! Would love to see a firing squad running parallel to the corridor with a Carnival theme song in the back though...
Putting the NPCs in a box so they can only have line of sight through the bars, it would help keep their attention on the zombies on the pillars. It would also keep them from falling off as well.
Nice Video but one major mistake was crouching your character. That also make your NPC follower crouch, they change mode when they do that, and they do not fire at every zombies unless they fill certain condition.
Pretty clear the NPCs were firing around the blocks rather than through them - which means the ones with the longer fences in front of them just didn't have the chance to fire at anything except the zombies running in from a distance after spawning. And that took out about half your firepower entirely - the sets of three, and left the rest with only fleeting chances to fire. It's possible other blocks might not work the same, but it might be a limitation with the NPC code.
There is a mod on 7 days to die mods that allows you to add the NPCs to vanilla. Also some variety packs to add special forces that are similar to Harley Quinn in they attack you as well. I have the NPC core mod and a few of the expansion packs on my vanilla and it's stable 99% of the time.
Rebirth is another overhaul mod that lets you hire traders, I don't know the extent to which they follow you around. Guns, nerds, and steel did a playthrough of it, I only watched parts and it was a pretty significant departure. I'd be interested in seeing you try that or a return to Darkness Falls with all the changes since your last playthrough.
I wonder if you had put barriers up so that the NPCs could only see in to the maze, maybe they would have done better protecting. Also, it looked to me like they never shot a single shot through the bars. I think they can't see through bars. If so, the entire test was pretty well cooked.
I bet instead of a door you had a window type thing (like a hatch or a half block) with a horizontal pole up top to stop the zombies from climbing through, and you put a baker/nurse behind it, then you afk behind the npc, that would make for a survivable night
Jawoodle, I got a new challenge for you. Do "The Floor Is Lava" where you are unable to touch the ground. There is a mod that does this where you can't go below the second level of buildings after the day of spawning in. Also turn on Feral Sense and use a random horde mod to really make it fun. 😊
So, I'm wondering how one would even start such a challenge. Start in Dishong Tower to give you plenty of space and resources to start trying to build your way out of it to the next building? And, second level of buildings? That's a bit more than not being able to touch the ground. Post which mod you're thinking about.
BTW there are NPCs in other overhaul mods. Such as The Wasteland and Apocalypse Now, and maybe Warzuck but can't remember that one and there's one that starts with an "O" but can't remember the name.
build npc shelves 1 level lower than zombie walkway and maybe put walls behind to limit there visibility. Also maybe have a row without bars to give them better line of sight.
Surprised you didn't just add another dirty dozen to the crew for the second half. And one last trial, how many npcs are needed for a no base challenge.
I'm still fairly new to jawoodle and enjoying watching him so far. Just finished ecplise. I have a question does he only do corridor horde bases or does he switch it up?
Pleade play oblivion mod. They have puppies you can have as pets, and their npc hiring is so hood. Also they have a working carnival that you can ride the rides even the rollercoaster!!
Theyre crouching because your character is crouching and theyre facing the wrong way because when u say “stay where youre / im standing” it includes what way they or u is facing when u give the command
