add two 2x4 to your existing rig without the pvc skids and make your rig into a H. Drill 2 holes one end and tie your rope to it. The end with the magnet will drag on the bottom of the lake. The two 2x4 will control how far your magnets are to the bottom.

the way we find things also is you take items the same size as what you lose and throw/drop them in the exact same spot you lost the last item you want and it gives you a solid spread of where the falls could go

As an ex-sparky, we used hack saws to cut most of our PVC. Cords are a pain in the butt and batteries were saved for the drills. Anybody who gives you crap for it doesn't know WTF they're talking about. 😂

I love this video. I think I would put 3/4 inch pvc caps between the magnets. Probably with a little 3/4 inch pipe to lift it a tinny bit. Honestly have know idea, but loved the video.

Put the magnets on the opposite side. The side you're pulling from. The backside of the board is just pushing everything away.

Since you magnets had eye hooks.... How about using another set of larger eye hooks screwed into the 2x4's, or large U bolts screwed into the 2x4.... to adjust the level and be more secure than bailing wire....

I don’t know anything about fishing, or boats for that matter, but I love the look of that boat. No idea if it’s crazy expensive for a boat or not, but I love it! Living in the desert, you don’t really come across a lot of boats lol.

Maybe add rope to every other magnet in your current set up where the magnet can swing a little but not enough to connect with neighboring magnets. There is still a chance on the fall in the water that it does swing into a neighboring magnet if it's dropped down too fast.

Drill holes in the wood for the PVC to go through so you can make the height shorter then attach them on the other side of the board. This way you have them only a few inches high. If it doesn't work at least you only have to replace the board or be a few magnets short

Keep what you have, just use longer zip ties so the magnets can hang lover through the 2x4? That'll give them the depth they need, and the ability to move freely to "protect" the supressor if its getting dragged?

Use a piece of angle iron to attach the magnets to, and the whole bar will become magnetic! Attach 2 more pieces, maybe to make it a triangle with the magnets connected! I believe the setup with the triangle rope isn't working, and possibly dragging the board any angle. Also alternate the magnets on top and bottom so when one catches it and rolls offthe top will secure it. But the triangle will give it more area for a second catch! 😅

Rob try Tractor supply or harbor freight for the wheels. As far as the hacksaw blade do not listen to the internet warriors. I worked construction in the 80s and 90s we used metal rated hacksaw blades before the newer tools ever came out. For cutting PVC.

Imagine the ski’s you built were designed like a w, remove then cut the center section out making them a u. Reattach the ski’s without the center section bringing it closer to the ground. Making the magnetics able to move a little would help as well

use a 4 foot 2x4 as a skid. put a eye bolt in the skid to tie the rope to. - no pvc pipe needed. just 2 - 4 foot 2x4 and 2 eye bolts.

Get some 4 inch or 6 inch round pvc pipe and slip it over the 2x4 at each end. It will slide on the bottom easily. Just a foot long or smaller. It would be like a wheel but stationary. Just drill a couple holes thru the round pvc and fasten it to the 2x4s at each end.

scuba for it , your buddy whit a RU-vid channel can help . you can put a ski like object ( longer than those you have and put 1 in the midle to ) under it so it slide's over the bottom just like fishing nets . remember those skids will go in the mud . dive for it is the best i think whit metal detector

Having the water dragons in your circle should never be forgotten.

Do ¼ PVC pipe screwed into the wood on the edge and then curve the wood in front with a nice chamfer so it's shaped like a wing. With the PVC pipe under it, it will have natural lift in the water from the shape but just a tad because of the weight of the magnets, and the pipe is small enough to not impede anything.

Just purchase another suppressor. In the mean time, instead of bailing wire use 1/8 " stainless wire rope as that shit will never break ,and it should not be as magnetic as wire.. Maybe use Flair's underwater drone to locate it and drag a magnet on a tether that you could release if the drone got tangled up in shit . Think about the content you could get out of the underwater recovery of the lost suppressor..

Try 6-8 inch solid plastic lawn mower wheels attached to the ends of the board.

2ft of 2x4 nailed underneath your magnet beam on both sides as skis, eye hooks through the end to make it directional, pull one way.

Should have made Sleds vs wheels or PVC Pipe for wet bottom mud. Wheels sink and the seems in the pipe get stuck, Sleds skid on the surface. Sleds kind like the rockers on a rocking chair.

Maybe try a strap, put eyes through it, then screw the magnets down through those eyelets and tie the rope to the end of that strong tie down type moving strap to that. Easy faster cheap and way more usable and likely to catch it. Good luck!

Bro get you another 2x4 and cut it in half, make 4’ skids out of that. If you need to raise it higher then add a spacer block of wood between your skid and magnet board

I would make 3 1 foot long pvc skis out of 2 inch pvc with 45 degree elbows on the front and attach them on each end and in middle, then run 3 ropes to a small anchor about 5 or 6 foot in front of the magnet board then main rope to boat. Attack magnet board to pvc skis so it cant rotate. The anchor should keep it level and stop it from rotating

Hey bro I use a couple of plastic bottles to give a little flotation to leave the magnets on the bottom and the bottles reduce the weight in the water

More wood will make it more buoyant or sealed tube across top and use weight suspended on sides to get it close to bottom and not draging

You could try putting a piece of angle iron on one side to act as a rake. In theory the suppressor will get caught on the magnets and the angle iron should make it harder for something to knock it off the magnets

Get you a 6ft stick of 3 inch or 4 inch pvc and 4 caps. Cut the stick in half and screw the pvc to the 2x4 on each end. Put one cap on and fill the pvc with sand or small rocks. Done. Ifyou screw it in on the same surface of the magnets the pvc should raise the magnets giving you a 2-3 inch gap for your suppressor to slide under(kinda like a pontoon) and get sucked up by the magnets. Drill holes in the pvc they wont float that way ..make a closwd U shape with the 2 inch pvc ..and i would make almost like a raft looking contraption of magnets like 4 foot by 3 foot wth the closed Ushape PVC on each corner so it slides across the bottom of the lake and you will cover way more ground i think having 3 rows of your magnets 7 on outside 6 in center row 3 rows and bobs your uncle

Brotha, if there is no other major metal pieces in the pond use your sidescan and look for abnormal returns on the sonar. It’s the same technology they find shipwrecks with.

You need to add a 12in post to each side to attach the ropes to. Because the way it is now the magnets arnt facing straight down because of the angle of the rope when pulling. Also you could of built like 8ft electric magnet for like 200 with coated wire, a 8ft rod anf a 5v battery.

Mount eome gopros to the 2×4 with a couple waterproof lights u ahaped pvc on each end to keep it sloding nocely find out where the location ks by the rime stamls kn the gopro then go grab the suppressor magnet fishing it up once you get the actuak location kf kt

So I would inner tie them Into the pipe then let the magnet just swim in the water and if they bounce off stuff who cares bcuz they have a little ring so you can just tie a really good slip knot on them and just drag it along that way. If I was closer to you I would definitely be happy to help you out with locating and recovery of the can. But I don't know if it would be usable still with the corrosion being to the point that it no longer can contain the muzzle blast.

screw a 2x4 on to each end of your magnet board so it looks like this H tie your rope onto the end of the skids. if you hold onto the rope as you drag it you will feel the tink of the magnets when they hit metal. soon as you feel that release the rope so you don't keep dragging it. motor up to the drag and pull it straight up. River Rescue, I have found things in my day.

You need the magnetics inside a 3 inch pipe 5ft long. Just like you did on the board just inside. No need for skids/wheels then

Use a wheel bolted to the ends of the board, a 6” wheel will give you around a 2” gap. Just an idea
