This channel has convinced me that the Tormented and Enlightened souls are two sides of the same coin. Never have I seen a man acquire so much arcane knowledge just to make himself suffer so much. You’re a good lad, Frapollo. I’ll miss you when you finish moonscorching.
As someone who's played alot of roguelikes, balance changes absolutely have a place in single player games. It all comes down to variety in gameplay imo. Funger's high rng, different characters and skill system heavily push for versatility of gameplay styles (at least in the early game). Its good gameplay design to reward this kind of experimentation and if "balance changes" positively affect player options, then they are fantastic. Otherwise you end up with frustration at what the player comes to percieve as "dud" progression paths when the rng dosent roll the specific way they see as the only option worth using.
a lot of roguelikes and deckbuilders ive played are very unbalanced and need changes even, most times the options are so bad only 1-2 paths in a class with 4 potential archetype can win in a max ascension run (or sometimes 1 path is so polarizing that u MUST pivot when u see it offered) idk abt rpg that much, but imo funger needs these kinds of "broken" skills that sometimes trivializes the game since the game is designed this way (or im just bad at it)
Never lose your Pizzazz. Your voice is like a elegant person insulting your bloodline from a distance and its both hilariously endearing and oddly comedic
@@frapollo94 Can work as a tutorial... If the tutorial is "How to feel a character's pain in real life in 10 easy steps!" 😂 Scherzi a parte, sempre gran contenuti. Bravo! 😊
I'm always amazed when I see people like you doing these crazy challenges in games while I just struggle to complete it normally lol. Also nice intro to it
You Pray to the Frapollo statue... ... You learned the skill Shtoopind eediot. Cast on yourself to break your limits and be able to become an eldritch abomination and achieve the imposible. It also grants a passive status buff that allows you to find grit and determination to not lose sanity even against unbeatable odds.
It's so crazy to see you in your Termina era now, after attributing your name with everything FnH 1 related for so long now it's awesome to see greener pastures being grazed, def a lot of potential in termina content provided it's like 5x the size of the OG and way more dynamic??? can't wait to see more for sure
Ohh thank you for making a video on this challenge!! This series was the first I watched on your channel and made me suscribe so they have a special place in my heart ❤❤
oh wow i geniuently loved this video, watching you play games on lives is fun too i love the community but getting a long format overwiew of the run with explanations about what youre doing is way better for me as someone who doesnt really know the game to much. Thank you so much!
I‘m so grateful that you upload all these videos about f & h , since I live in germany and can‘t really download the game (it‘s very complicated) So seeing your videos is even better
And it’s stuff like this that’s why I contribute to you and your content. I struggle through both fear and hunger games, and here you are with challenges like this!😂 love it dude, great work!
This playthrough really makes you feel like Olivia. My opinion on balance changes in single player games is that it's part of the natural process of testing that helps shape a game to better reflect the designer's vision. If something in the game isn't meeting that expectation I see little reason they shouldn't alter it. Does it make the game more or less fun? That really is down to the quality of the developer making those adjustments.
To answer your question: I think it depends if something should get buffed or nerfed in singleplayer games. I would like to use Skyrim as an example. One of the most broken in Shouts in this game was the "Marked for Death" shout. It basically reduced enemy armor rating permanently. It was even able to apply negative armor, basically permanently debuffing enemies armor rating to extreme levels. The important thing was that this was a player only ability and Skyrim is already broken enough so there was no reason to nerf it. But then almost 10 years after Skyrims release this shout got nerfed. Instead of debuffing armor rating permanently it is now only active for a few minutes. They did this because Bethesda released a paid DLC called "Shadowrend" in which you need to fight your own shadow, with every ability and such that you have already unlocked. And this shadow was able to use the Marked for Death shout thus crippling your characters armor rating forever. But instead of just removing this shout from the enemies movepool, they straight up nerfed it hard which in my opinion was unnecessary. Then we have Skyrims survival mode. This mode needs a few buffs and nerfs, a few tweaks in it's gameplay if you ask me. For starters the Hunger mechanic, one of the big additions of this mode is completly obsolete because of inns. Normally you are supposed to cook your own meals to fill your hunger but in those inns you can just cheaply buy food, thus you never even need to cook anything apart from hot soups in this gamemode. And then there is survival modes coldness feature. It makes sense that your player character freezes in certain areas in this cold land but besides hot soups and camp fires, which you can't even place everywhere and not use in combat there is no way to warm yourself up in the cold areas. This is a game where every character starts with a basic flame spell mind you but casting flames and literally being set on fire doesn't decrease your coldness. So you can literally die by freezing while literally being on fire. This survival mode was also a DLC that was added later on so you can really see that Skyrim wasn't balanced around these mechanics. Playing this feels like the developer just threw in random Numbers and values without even testing it, thus making survival mode absolutely annoying to play. And that's coming from me. Skyrim is my favorite game ever and I always dreamt of a survival mode but this just ain't it. What I am trying to say is that sometimes buffs and nerfs can be good or even necessary in a single player game but sometimes there is just no reason to nerf or buff certain aspects of the game.
I believe Flame Cloak and Torches increase your warmth rating but yeah, there's no way to reduce cold outside of preset fires and soups unless you also have the Camping CC Dlc which allows you to place a camp in the wilderness with a fire or mods that have functionality with it. It's worth noting also that NPCs are exempt from the survival mechanics. So you may be freezing to death but Joe Schmoe Bandit Man is completely fine. There's also the fact being burned doesn't decrease you coldness....But being blasted with Ice spells INCREASES it. Which is kinda bs.
@@RaxusXeronos I think Flame cloak only prevents damage from freezing water but doesn't increase your warmth rating as far as I can tell. It's a cool concept but this Survival Mode leaves a lot to be desired.
Recently got into FUNGY and your content is the absolute best. I was speechless when I learned that you are also a fellow italian! Keep up with the incredible content.
To be honest, I do like when single player games give you the chance of using it's own mechanics to "break it" or "make it easier". I mean, you make the actual effort to get to the point where you CAN "break it", but the game doesn't give you the faculty to actually DO it. To do so you have to UNDERSTAND the game, and still play it on it's terms. Right now, I'm playing Fallout NV, and a perk that you can pick at the mid-game allows you to repair expensive weapons with cheap ones. So you can create an almost endless loop of buying cheap weapons, using them to repair the expensive ones you find while exploring, and absolutely rig the economy. In Skyrim, you can cast for free up to two schools of magic by enchanting 4 pieces of armor with a "reduce magicka cost by 25%". This means, among other things, unlimited powerful projectiles with almost endless range, and unlimited healing. In KOTOR 2 you can get much better item drops by leveling "awareness". None of these games give you the answer. You have to work, play, think and understand them for these benefits.
Saw you help ConnorVA and you were such a pro at this game man! Alas its time to see you suffer some challenge runs... LETS GO!!! Oh and subbed! Keep the content coming man!
I feel like balance changes in a singleplayer game can be pretty valuable. It can keep a game interesting and fun without the need for self-imposed challenges or otherwise forcing oneself to ignore some crazy strategy because it will always effortlessly win. Assuming everything turns out fun and balanced in the end, of course.
Absolutely love your accent, it adds an extra layer of charm to the content. I could listen to you say "FEAR AND HUNGER!" for hours on end, the energy is intoxicating!
Absolutely amazing. Olivia is my favourite playable character ❤ and I really wanted to see you play as her, but just did not have enough time to watch vods. So happy you decided to make this video.
You know there’s some bolt cutter in the woods just left of the train and before the shack that Tanaka stops at? Guaranteed spawn, they are hidden in a bush you can walk over click the bush 3 times while standing on it. Didn’t actually know you could use keys to get into the city I always found 3-4 bolt cutters.
Thank frapollo for letting me know about this beautiful world of games, you're the best, buuut..... we need more termina lore videos, keep on with the study!
I found your videos from when you helped Conner get all of the S endings in funger 1, and these videos are great. Also, the fact that both games are only 20 USD combined is an absolute steal. Maybe not for my mental health, but it is for my wallet.
9:56 She’s using her shoulders and head to move around like a caterpillar. I am actually pretty sure you CAN’T use the wheelchair without arms either, so it’s interesting, but kind of makes sense, that no arms means you’re actually better off without a wheelchair.
18:25 You know man’s is in absolute agony when he sounds like he’s run a marathon by playing a video game. That is the sound of an actually very handsome man might I add who does NOT want to reset for the billionth time again xD
Honestly, your old microphone voice wasn't that bad. I liked it. You're an amazing content creator regardless of your equipment. Love your effort and time frapollo. I'd wager your mind is already at 2 , if you're doing crazy enough challenges as these.
