That was trippy, yeah. Thankfully, it really came in clutch. Goes to show even games this old still have neat, hidden stuff to discover. Gen1's spaghetti code was wild, but that Meowth is in the running for one of my favorite poke-glitches.

Such a nostalgic run for me. My VERY first play through of Emerald, I had a shiny Meowth on my team. I showed all my friends and felt like the coolest kid in school.

A neat twist you could do for the rival team runs, and could even redo some since the teams in some games can vary pretty hard, is to replace the starter so you can mirror the rival. So like, for water starter team, replace the fire starter so both of you start with water starter example.

I'm surprised that this many people noticed the Meowth interaction. Just goes to show how much attention everyone pays to all the obscure mechanics these games have to offer even after 20 years. Stuff like this Meowth or giving Whitney a Miltank in the remakes is what makes these games relevant to this day.

The Meowth Clause feels like such a double-edged sword. On the one hand, yes it is a broken pokemon. On the other hand, the fact that seeing one adds the Hardcore Nuzlocke rules to MDB's run really changes the stakes.

Here's an interesting challenge concept: Consider trying Pokemon Black with only N's team. You can make your starter a Zorua, and then just catch the Pokemon he catches each time. That could be neat.

Considering I’ve always viewed people streaming as “bonus content” to supplement their actual work (in this case, YT) and to help create a fanbase, I appreciate the take at the end where your uploaded videos are “24/7 content” which is significantly more accessible than someone streaming when I’m at work or eating dinner with my family.

Confession Time MDB, i actually sometime do not read the text because I simply like listening to your voice while working, making food, showering, etc… I think your voice is veeeery soothing and to be honest, a lot of these challenges used to came out during tough time and it always was a comforting moment to watch them. Such a great run!! Loved seeing that weird meowth - definitely a highlight. Also, MDB AMA- what’s the script-writing process for these runs like? How do you decide when to take a break and write down what’s happened? How do you decide when to drop in sponsors/plugs? Have you ever forgotten to take a fossil and had to go back and pick one just to put that in the script?

Making and thus exploring loopholes in a self made challenge is honestly so funny to me. Wow, that Steven fight was intense. I can't believe he had a Level 85 Meowth and gave it a Steel Chair. Good thing your Tropius stomped a mudhole in him, winning you the run. Meatross! Also, starting with Emerald, there are certain Berries you can find that will lower a Pokemon's EVs, which could come in handy if you want to, for example, remove some Special Attack EVs on a physical attacker, or drop some Speed to use an HP Up, something like that.

Kind of strange for that meowth to steal the show during this run, but it was really just the MVP. I thought the Grovyle would be the most important member, but the meowth put the whole team on its back
