@@brannycedeno6823 The switch is roughly the same in performance as a 360, most switch games run in 720p 60fps or 1080p 30fps in docked mode. tears of the kingdom is 720p 24-27fps even when docked even, yet the 360 ran GTA V. and ran Skyrim better then the switch... by ALOT.
@@melly5345 Yeah 360's port of unleashed was actually good, the wii version was a downgrade but playable and alright. but we already know a switch port would be colors ultimate 2.0 2077 Special ed edition
Dude, this is not a "worst" laptop, not even close. If it's from 2015 and it can run an xbox 360 emulator, then it's a genuine beast. I own a laptop from 2016 that would crash and burn trying to play this video in 480p, even though i've upgraded it with an SSD and 8 gigs of ram. You own a MACHINE
I have a 2012 Toshiba Satellite C675D-S7101 which barely runs RU-vid in HD and would probably catch fire if I attempted to run Dolphin on it, most likely because of clogged CPU fans. Or my 2008 HP Mini 110 Netbook which runs DeSMuMe at 8 FPS and RU-vid at a playable 360p
Yeah I expected a netbook from 2008 with GMA graphics or something, though tbf it probably wouldn't even run any emulator that runs Sonic Unleashed besides the Wii and PS2 versions (and it wouldn't run those well at all either). I'm surprised your 2016 laptop doesn't play youtube though. What laptop is it?
I love that they used a mod with the DS model because the actual model was too high poly. Like imagine playing Mario Galaxy with the Super Mario 64 model to get it to run faster LMAO.
@@Tr4ns1st0r Oldest versions of Gens are more than two decades old, heck I remember using it on my netbook with 1gb of ram and integrated gfx card, can't even imagine what kind of computer op has that struggles running Gens lol
You can kinda see why they chose to hire Dimps to make a completely different version for the Wii and PS2 rather than trying to port the PS3 and X360 version to them.
Besides the fact SEGA was smelling money, it's also the same reason it got Secret Rings instead of an '06 port. The fact they ever even considered it is such a SEGA move, utterly unhinged yet they could've done it. We need more of that
If they REALLY wanted to, they could just downgrade the assets and make a new engine that replicates the HD's physics and overall gameplay but tailored to the Wii's power, but that would make a lot of money and time.
I'm actually impressed that this P.O.S. of a laptop can even emulate a Xbox 360 game, let alone Sonic Unleashed at "playable" (it barely qualifies as functional, let alonw playable lmao) levels.

Laptop framerate challenges seem super interesting, especially when the game ties several different logic/physics to framerate, and you were super entertaining to watch (+ great editing)! After watching this video, I'm gonna go watch that speedrun livestream on Unleashed too (giraffe got me curious). Subbed!
Wild that a game that already runs poorly and is also capped at 60 on PS3 would depend on framerate as much as it does lol, I wonder if it's as bad there Though I also know that even when correcting for it, it seems delta time (depending on the engine) lacks the decimal precision to fix things if the frames are too high or low
Proof that viewers can actually watch anything, even if it has terrible graphics and rectangles attacking the camera every ten minutes. (I like your editing, by the way)
I love that you HAD to use the DS model to get it to run. Like imagine playing Mario Galaxy with the Mario 64 model because it couldn’t run with a Wii model
Now this is a whole new level of respect right here. And by respect, I mean why did you do this and who was holding your family at gun point making you do this? This looks AWFUL and PAINFUL. Play this on Sonic Colors Ultimate next
Man, I didn't know Sonic Team still had beta copies of unleashed, those are probably like 20 years old at this point, really cool how they gave you one so you could do this Though it does make you wonder why they never considered remaking it if they had this
this was genuinely a great watch. i loved the editing and ur energy was great the whole time even if you did suffer 😭p.s i never knew the final boss was THAT cool.
Ok, I have a couple things to say You got so lucky with xenia because it does not like low end PCs. And it crashes a lot on weaker hardware. The frames ruin the gameplay so much that, like in empire city, it would sometimes skip the frames making you go straight through an object (Also happens in frontiers and I guess generations too) I used to play this on a weak laptop and I understand the pain with the QTEs. The trick is to actually mash slower which does sound weird but it worked for me. One more thing. I recommend trying it without anything else in the background. It might help the frames a little bit and could make empire city possible
That whole “Can Chun Nan” segment was the funniest part of the video lmao. It’s a shame that you managed to get so far into the game before it became impossible with that one spring. And the final QTE with Dark Gaia sucks too. But ye overall this was a really funny video. Loved it :)
This is one of the greatest videos on RU-vid in the longest while! So good it made me try this challenge on my laptop! It's not as bad as the Toshiba, but the GPU alone holds it back so it performs similarly... I don't have any speedrunning tricks either so this is going to go well... Thanks Denymeister....
Already watched this yesterday, but just wanted to stop by again and let you know that you’ve made nothing less than an absolute BANGER of a video, Deny. Loved every minute of it! 🗣️🔥
6:42 you earned a sub for wearing A SUIT on stream and having your commenting guidelines be actually funny instead of the usual "no being a meanie UnU" shit 👌
The building at the end of Mazuri night is actually the Eggman base that the professor is trapped in. The cutscene immediately after beating the level takes place in it.
"can chun nan" for that thing, i was getting everything right, as i understood how the game was working, then got a bonus question thrown at me that made me cry
Yo the fact that you have to use the Sonic Rush model for this video makes a lot of sense since that was technically the first Sonic game that really focused on Boost😅
3:24 but that’s the thing though the difference is in frontiers the pop in isn’t actually a engine issue it’s a variable set in the games code that can be increased or decreased (kinda dumb how they don’t let you change it though)
Oh my god I can’t imagine myself going through all of this 😭 This was so entertaining, and you’re SO underrated! 💙 13:26 I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at something so silly as this 🤣
To be honest, it's not the worst laptop yet (!). Other than that you could try patches that lower resolution (and disable dof, shadows and other graphics) to see if fos would be better. Also you can use "AMD grass explosion fix" since it just makes grass texture transparent (fixes in Adabat and Mazuri). Amazing video! Didn't expect someone to use my wiirehog as i intended it to be (i made it performance improvement)
I actually went through not just one laptop trying to find one that worked like I said in the intro, but two 💀This was the third. That AMD grass fix and a lower resolution was used too, clearly they didn't help! But hey, at least your mod was finally put to good use.
You wanna know a fact that can make this run even worse? Physics engine and hitboxes in Havok (Unleashed, Colors and Generations uses this) is fps locked, so all the jank like ramp not ramping, boost not boosting, hitting something behind enemies, it's all because of the low fps. You build speed slower in low fps, and momentum goes faster in higher fps, sometimes stuff doesn't even register simply because of the fps issue.
Thanks for the insight. That would explain why trying worse laptops beforehand was so incredibly difficult. Good to know if we try Colours or Generations though lol
Great script, great concept, great on screen presence, great execution (aside from the atrocious framerate.) Definitely deserving of sub! Excited to see more!
I’ve said for years that although extremely detailed, high poly graphics are nice and there’s no problem with having them, they’re not necessary for a fun game. Thanks for the validation 😅
can chun-nan results exhibit 1: guessed right, that's what the water's supposed to do exhibit 2: guessed right, guessed the cannon was gonna drop him because of the input not being registered, or the cannon just undershooting as shown exhibit 3: guessed right, homing attack has a tendency to overshoot like in savannah citadel exhibit 4: guessed right, wasn't homing attacking, so low chance for the game to fuck up exhibit 5: guessed right, see exhibit 3 exhibit 6: guessed right, in the way that they would lock you into 2d gameplay in 3d exhibit 7: guessed right, same over/undershooting problem as with the homing attack and cannon exhibit 8: guessed wrong, homing attack actually worked as intended a shocking amount of times in a row exhibit 9: guessed right, sonic fell through the rail exhibit 10: guessed wrong, the game's timing functioned correctly exhibit 11: guessed right, obvious trick question, and the homing attack doesn't always overshoot final score: 9/11 (uhh) 48:56 rush sonic sheds a tear at this horrendous existence he's been forced into also guessed that the dark gaia beam qte was gonna kill the run... not for the 3rd time though
