Becoming a pro takes years, learning the basics takes a few hours… But buying or renting high quality gear doesnt make anyone good instantly. I just got a pair of cdj-2000’s after many years as a dj, playing with different setups and controllers (cdj-1000mk3, cdj-2000/nxs/nxs2, djm’s and ddj’s etc) 🥳 My tip to you would be to invest in the XDJ-RR or any standalone machine. Also analyse and export your music through Recordbox! That makes a huge difference when stepping behind a pair of cdj’s with your usb! 🙌🏼

I had your very same New Year’s resolution back in 2021. I feel you man. I am a DJ now, since I went out and bought my standard equipment and self taught myself after all this time. And after all this time, I still only have standard tripod speakers, good enough for indoor and outdoor events, and a DDJ-1000 controller by Pioneer. CDJs and stand-alone mixers are way too expensive, even to this day for me. A very great professional controller, like a DDJ-1000, or any bargain priced standalone controllers like the XDJ-RX3 are pretty good enough.

Had a 2 deck controller that can be used with any software, bought a new 2 deck controller that is not really different from first one :D DJing is all about selection and mixing, if you can play without a laptop/screen (even on the players) - you can play with any type of gear.

traktor would be great for practicing beat matching by ears.just look for a mapper and a driver for your gear and just turn off the phase meter in settings. its how i learned ear beat matching when i still use my ddj rb controller for gigs.

I know its over a year old but what a great vid to stumble over. I did wince a bit when you picked a Serato controller over a Rekordbox controller knowing you were going to be using CDJs. Well done having plenty of tunes on your flash drive I would recommend a duplicate drive with all the same tunes. Anyway well done taking the jump up to big boy decks is daunting but looks like you crushed it
