Good discussion, the problem with the "spray drones" that wasn't really mentioned in this is that the efficiency of using these small drones for spray jobs is completely inefficient. It takes 30-40 minutes for a quad to just fly 135 acres at 400 ft AGL just captioning imagery. For a crop application, in order to meet requirements, you would be flying less than about 6 feet across the entire field. This would literally take all day. Imagine the battery swaps and chemical reloads on a 3-5 gallon tank. These types of uses are only applicable for a garden in my honest opinion or very very small cash crops. A 1-2 acre vineyard or vegetable crop would be ideal. Just my two cents!

Also, to add to this, i have seen UAS that was about the size of an airplane and had a huge tank. Now those, are the future in my opinion! Depending on how expensive they are (not cheap, it would make sense for every decent sized grower to have one because it costs about $5-$6/acre/flight for several flights a year. It adds up quick!

One 10KG loading four rotor drone can work at an efficiency of 30-40Hecta per day for 8 hours. One 17KG Single rotor Helicopter can work at an efficiency of 50-70Hecta per day for 8hours. Those are been proved by Thailand users, Vietnam users and Philippine users.

@@ms.springsong8327 I am aware you have the choppers as shown on all of your videos and appreciate the response. The fact of the matter is that these types of spraying drones will only capitalize in specialty crops such as vineyards or farmland in very small amounts of acreage. The average center pivot crop is around 135 acres or 54.6 hectares. I do not question that these UAS's could get the job done because they could, but where the problem falls is that the size of the tank that these UAS are able to carry, will require a significant amount of time to refill, recharge/refuel. If the solution is "we will just build a bigger drone to carry a bigger tank" then we will soon arrive to the resolution of what we call airplanes or helicopters. The real future with all of this (in my opinion) is unmanned cropdusters (true helicopters). For large scaled growers that is a solution, but trying to refill tank after tank after tank over an 8 hour period is not worth the hassle. A grower can pay around $5-$6 acre to have the crop sprayed in way less time. I appreciate the response and it is good discussion!

@@ms.springsong8327 Also, like I said, its a great solution for small specialty crops and I am only addressing agriculture here in the U.S only (although the technology in Australia would have similar results). The technology works for the countries that you mentioned for sure!

@@agricultureaerial4768 Currently the charges are around $22 per hectare. which is around $9 per acre. Philippine has more than 20,000Hecta of the banana farm, while Thailand has more than 30,000Hecta of sugar cane farm, and Indonesia has the world biggest Oil palm plantation. The ideal way of plant protection for large size farm is to combine the boom sprayers and UAV. Cause in Asian countries, big Airplane or helicopters are not that popular and not widely used as USA or Australia due to the many reasons. Philippine has been using the airplane spraying for many years on banana farms, however, those big plantation group now become interested in applying those small UAV drones and ready to start using it. Just for your reference.
