Hello my name is Richard Johnson from Andrew Isaacss Law in Doncaster.
We're family law specialists. I'm often asked a question as to whether you need a solicitor to deal with divorce.
The simple answer is no, the divorce process itself is is quite a straightforward process especially now it's moved on to the no fault system. We used to have a blame based system and a based on adultery, separation, Behavior Etc that's now been swept away so divorce itself can be quite a straightforward process.
We would however always advise people to get advice on divorce and linked matters prior to starting a divorce, finances can be a complicated aspect as can child arrangements. So we always advide poeple to get general advice on the whole matter before starting the divorce. But ultimately the answer may be that you feel confident dealing with a divorce yourself which is done via the government online system.
