Can you please show us your portfolio when you applied to Uni

this motivated me to go in architecture even if i am not good in drawing

Hi Ray! What do you recommend for a student who is barely building their portfolios to get into architecture schools? I'm working on mine but unfortunately, like your friend, i really dont know how to sketch, I love using my hands and being creative but I'm not sure how to start my portfolio. Any tips??? and thank you for these vids!

I don't have great artistic skills but I'm optimistic for college. Is there anything I should practice doing during the summer so I can be better at drawing ? I'm not sure what to look up to practice

i think when you are asked that question, people wanna know if you have to be able to sketch and paint and all of that, that you learn in fine arts when in high school. ofc no one asks you to know how to build a building before you actually learn how to do it (that's why you go to college), but do you need to have these skills like if you were going to a design course or something of the kind? xx

Hi Ray I'm in a pretty bad scenario. I put up a portfolio that included a lot of technical stuff like SketchUp, blender, Photoshop, Maxwell and rhino in alot of my 20 peices. I also made alot of models for fun. I do have some drawing but I think the University I applied to (Georgia tech) will think I'm closed minded and not creative. Can you help me give advice on my portfolio I know it has too many words but they asked for explanation. My dad doesn't want me to do architecture either because he does it.

Note: There are different types of architecture schools with different set of dogmas.

I think there is not enough information out there what architecture students actually do and what kind of things do they learn. My architecture school required passing a drawing exam, but what they actually seek is not the skill but potential. And later on the motivation and an interest in the architectural world. Anyway the architecture school will flip upside down almost everything that you've try to learn before :) And then the reality of work will do it once again. /L
