When he says that the speedometer was stuck on 66666 remind me of 02 super glide I had.i put a new digital speedo on and a low voltage spike, bad battery, caused it to go to all 666666 17:09 17:09 17:09 Kinda freaked me out, like a bad omen? Owned it for 5 years,no problems, sold it and got a wide glide now.

@@tomparth3398 Talking about odometers I was in Vantage Washington and being in a 1%er club at the time I must have been the least intimidating because a guy filling up his Dyna said "Hey I have to show someone this"..... He took me to his bike and the Odometer said 400,000 exactly. I asked "Have you ever rebuilt the motor"? He said, "NO, just rode it". He put his helmet on and rode away after taking a picture of the odometer.

So glad you are on your own!! Way better to watch! Tip: Pour a bit of oil in each spark plug hole before you turn it over the first time. You might have scored the piston walls. Also if all the oil is in the crankcase you should have drained some out before turning it over to not overpressurize the oil pump.

I ended up watching it in its entirety, and I found myself grinning when you got the bike running! SO glad you were able to find and buy your dad's bike! Brings me back to a year ago when I bought my first bike at age 17, and 2001 Harley Sportster 883. Little did I know that it had "cruise control", aka the throttle return cable was completely broken. Had a lot of fun memories working on that bike, and some not so good ones of lowsiding it. But I'm grateful because it has brought me to where I am today.

The AMF Harley's got a bad rap. I had a 72 XLCH and I loved it. Never had a lick of problem and neither did my buddy who had one as well. We rode them hard, even two month adventure out west in 1974. Sissy bars packed with tents, sleeping bags, pots, pans and clothes. Not built to be a touring bike with small tank and thin seat, a hundred miles was the limit to ride without fuel and a stretch. It was an adventure at nineteen years old I cherish fifty years later.

Awesome that found your dad’s bike and that they finally sold it to you. Sad that it sat up for nearly 20 years, but I’m sure you will make some great memories of your own with it. Loving the channel.

I learnt to ride on the road on a mates Sportster. No license, no insurance and i put about 40 miles on it on sunny sunday. Years before offroad (field's) i learnt to ride on a DT175 (similar to your IT175). Fun bikes, fun times.
