Cool experimentation showing how simple things can be made in many styles. Rooting for you Tim. Hope the move works itself out and you get back into a shop soon.
Can’t wait to see the new workshop in all its glory. Love seeing people fulfilling their passion thru the expertise of their craft. Keep pushing forward Tim!
I really like the simple ones, but the "squeeze the bottle to open" one is a really cool idea. I would love to see a short or something where you show how it works after some tweaks to get the correct amount of throw.
It's good to see someone who is well established in the RU-vid blacksmith realm go back and showcase bottle openers. By the way I prefer both of the cable bottle openers.
I liked the large round bar forged into a ring with the three dog ears in the center! I like how substantial it is and how it fits in your palm. It's interesting enough to sit out on the counter or workbench when not in use... Have you considered an opener that is shaped like an axe?! Or a blacksmith hammer?
Any chance I could get a couple of the shank and a couple of the blacksmith but (dull) sharpen the opposite end of the opener so it could slide under the opener of a aluminum can beverage? Then the opener could open glass and aluminum cans as well!
My #1 priority in a bottle opener is that it leaves as little damage to the cap as possible. It's a big part of what I liked about your first design and why I bought a couple of them. The ones you've put up for sale now don't seem as likely to do this as well but it'd be nice if that was shown a bit. I just like collecting bottle caps I guess :)
There's one I recieved as a gift a number of years ago - it's a board with a nail in it! It's a piece of reclaimed hickory with a forged nail, not like the cheap pine 2×4 with a 16d nail one's. It works beautifully and doesn't damage the caps.
The moon and the paperclip are probably the contest looking. That shoehorn looking one is badass too with a little tweaking. But I'm gonna side with you. Classic is always preferred.
The super chunky 3 part round palm fittin one, the chunky paperclip, and your fav were top 3 for me. All of them were clever ideas, some would no doubt work very well with very minor tweaking.
My favorite is the one where you put it on the bottle and just grab the bottle to open it would be awesome if you can tweak it and make it work I'd buy it
Nice video Tim! super cool to see you doing some chill hand forging, your talent as an artist and craftsman really shines! Love your work man, keep it up!
Timothy, you are a mad bottle opener scientist! I love these! Great video man! Oh and my fav is the circle with the projections in the middle. That thing is great! But all of them, even the ones that didn't work are works of art to me!
Stopped at 8:56 befor you tried the different openers - if I've counted correctly, you've used nine different (perfectly fine) bottle openers to make some more ;-) (counting rebar and cable only once) and your openers are much more sophisticated and nicer to watch and use than the original ones great work, I couldn't do it - I would have used the base materials ;-)
That was a great experiment. I was skeptical about a few. I love when you can tell what the original item or metal was like the cable ones and the rebar one that needed tweaking. Army SE Oregon
We haven't had a "SMASH that subscribe button!" in a while! I love these designs! They're all really cool! I like the paperclip I think it's kinda funny to have this extra large thing to hold sheets of steel or something together 😄 I love the circle with the Y thing. A lot of these pieces are just so beautiful even just as an art piece! The crescent one too! I honestly laughed at how effective the "grab your beer and it opens for you" piece was 😂 I honestly thought you were making a shoehorn at first! Don't give up on that one! It just needs some adjusting on the spacing for the hook. I love to see that you're still into your craft and you haven't given up! Even if you're not cranking out tons of axes you're still making beautiful works of art and awesome content! Keep it up!
Uh, Tim I just finished the video, please just make the bolt bottle opener, it might not be as cool as some of the other ones but it's still pretty dang cool. (lil sad to see you in the sun, I know how much harder that must be)
Hey Tim Amazing resourcefulness, just worried that the move has caused you drink 12 bottles at the same time! I think I like your second favourite the best.
bro make a black smithing app for sleep sounds it's very relaxing hearing scorching hot metal vs almost cooled down metal, different strength metals different cook times
I've been trying to watch this video for a couple of days now, and for some reason, it just won't load. Cleared cache and everything. It's the only video I've clicked on in my subscriptions and from the main page that doesn't load for some reason. Just thought I'd let you know something may be up? but I don't know for sure.
