Hi again Jen … like I mentioned before I love your content, and if you don’t mind me suggesting another channel you may be interested in … He is very humble and was flabbergasted by how his channel did after he retired… he shares great info for people to start .. its called The new retired me..I think you will like it.. he is truly humble and you can feel it. Anyway I’m catching up on ALL your videos,,, just love your content snd how you explain everything in layman’s terms… I just know your channel will grow… take care.😊
Jen: You are doing great. I am silver but not solo. My husband and I are married 46 years. You are right, seniors need to keep up with technology, and why not, ‘cause it’s fun! I am almost 69 and you are inspiring me. Keep it up, my dear!
I think you just need to be patient while new people find you. You need to have compelling content so that people will come back. You came up on my RU-vid home page this week 10 March 2024. I was not searching for anything about creating a RU-vid channel or travel but I do watch a lot of video on growing my online business. So now I have subscribed, liked commented and watched about 8 of your videos. That's how RU-vid is helping you grow. Good luck and keep with it. 🙂
It amazes me that this was only 3 months ago and you had 358 subscribers. AND NOW!!!!! you have 49 THOUSAND subscribers! This is totally amazing! Keep up the good work (and fun!!). 🌿M
i can imagine your frustration but you are right that consistency is the key to your growth. I have followed many small channel's growth over the years. Some of them may take a couple of years to get to that magic 1000 subscribers. However once they start getting over that the growth does come quicker. Please don't get discouraged. You have a great channel with a niche that is perfect for this time. Older solo women travel is booming! This video reminds me that I didn't get a chance to watch your regular video this week. I am heading to watch it now!
I am silver, not solo, but we are elderly and health-challenged and have no life insurance. I am a survivor of childhood abuse which left me unable to successfully follow a traditional work path,. I never know when I will be unable to work, due to pain levels, anxiety, or depression. I spent years trying to fit into other people's idea of work and have finally understood that this isn't possible. So I am trying other less conventional methods of earning money. You inspire me. Thank you.
Come suggested content could be take us on one of your prior or next vacations…show/tell us what you did so save funds or what it really costs to take a trip from booking….flying…tours….food etc. even if you didn’t save anything at least we see the real costs and the hidden costs that no one tells you about. I am a silver single getting ready to retire and I like your honesty. Also u could do a day in the life….shopping hauls…etc. I like those videos as well. There could be something someone could learn. I learned to keep a journal of monthly bills and expenses and when seeds are planted each year or crazy weather days which can be looked back on. Thank you for your videos. I liked your suggestion of don’t get left out in the computer world as we age….so each of your videos have a lesson for someone . Thanks
Just found your channel, and am so inspired! I'm 51, single and newly divorced. I always stayed home and homeschooled my kids. Now I have to figure out how to earn an income, and then hopefully will be able to travel alone in the near future. So, I'll be tuning into your channel. Blessings from NJ!
I retired at 62 but I work at a store for $, 25-30 hrs a week. I like having contact with customers and coworkers and it keeps me young working with teenagers too!! I’ll give a shoutout to one of my favs on YT to checkout your video!
Keep going! I’m routing for you. I am currently where you WERE only a few months ago. Your videos are giving me LIFE! THANK YOU for sharing your journey! I love it. ❤
Also… i think engageing with your viewers by leaving a reply or a heart, will count as engagement in the algorithm too, and will boost you. Look into it and let me know 🙏🏻. I am learning alongside with you
One of the MANY thing I am loving about this series is your openness and willingness to share everything - struggles, insights, learnings, and celebrating some amazing movement! Well done!
Jen, mine is a fairly new channel I guess you could say. I started it about a year and a half ago. I loved home decor channels and cleaning channels because they were motivational. I found home decor channels that were like me, on a very tight budget, and that’s truly what I loved. I’m hoping this can be my niche. But I have hardly any subscribers. I think it’s about 545 now. I’ve reached the required number of views, but even those are low. I will keep watching your videos trying to gain advice. I’m also in my mid 50s and would love to be able to make money from RU-vid. I’m truly a homebody, but I have to go out into the world to make a living right now.
I'm one of your subscribers and am watching/liking/loving this Monetization playlist. I've been working at studying vidIQ and some others on how to make a successful channel. I've had 2 channels for 15 years and didn't focus on building them until now. One, I don't even have access to, Google is helping me with that, as I don't remember the email I used so long ago to create it. That said, I do LOVE making videos. I'm not fully silver, but I AM solo & have been for TWENTY years. I've traveled solo, and know I can encourage others. I was a single mom and now a single grandmom, living with 2 poodles. I also live in nature. I'm calling my channel "Late Bloomer Boomer" because I just published my second book and published my third album. Neither book is a best seller and so far, there's no hit songs - but it's out there! And now I'm here learning. I like your teaching style and authenticity - and that you walk your pup. I've been making videos walking my pups and chatting as I puff my way up my quarter mile driveway.
This is my biggest, well, my SECOND biggest challenge - being technologically aware and curious. All my life and career, things have come rather easy to me. Since covid and the lost year of 2020, that hasn't been the case, and I find everything to be MUCH more challenging. I didn't prepare for retirement when I was younger, and having something to "fall back on" would be a BIG blessing. Definitely have been inspired by you! Thank you, Jen!!!
Thank you so much for your honesty and your advice. I have just started to set up a business selling my artwork and I today have created an arm to hold my mobile phone above my easel so that I can record myself painting. Fingers crossed 🤞 people will like my content.
It's helpful to remind us to Like, Subscribe, & Comment. I was making dinner when I heard you say it so I stopped to comment. (I'm watching the whole series. 😊) I always appreciate the reminder! Great job, Jen! I know you're past this now but I'm glad I can go back and watch your beginning. Thank you for sharing! I'm glad you kept going!
I like the way you said WHEN 3:31 instead of IF you get your channel monetised. This is what I do too, talking as already has happened. I wish you all the best
I'm older than you but younger than your parents. How wonderful that they enjoy learning and growing and using technology! I've not pulled the trigger yet on starting my YT channel but find your video's inspiring. Thank you! I'm stuck ion do I know enough to even start and where to begin.
I appreciate your honesty and willingness to share your journey to creating and monitizing a RU-vid channel! It's so nice that you're not pushing viewers to buy your book or enroll in your course! I subscribed and am watching each of your videos - love this series! Thanks again!
You are so adorable and I enjoy listening to you and the sound of your voice! Such authenticity and each video in this series gets better and better! You inspire me!! Also, I love your hair! I'm a silver sister too and single! 😍
I think it's so great if we can get some income from RU-vid. I think the same, the day I retire I hope to get some extra from YT. Stay fab and keep up the good job. And I can totally relate, why is it so hard to get views, I'm also doing simular to others and still I get like 50 views and others and they got like 20K views. And I think I also need to do some more everygreen content.
I notice your puppy struck a pose a few times during the puppy cam I think he loves being in the movies! The area is beautiful where you are at ,and your channel is going to keep growing so don't worry about it or lose any sleep over it . Great content and I couldn't help but think if you want a video to go viral all you need is for Big Foot to step out from behind one of those trees !!😊✌
I am so enjoying your content Jen! RU-vid must be good at reading minds as despite wanting to start a channel ( I made a cringey short a few months ago ☺) it hadn't been at the forefront of my mind until your channel was in front of me. Great development in such a short time, you have a fantastic niche. xxx
Hello Jen. I really enjoyed your #6 video. I realized it’s something like listening to a radio talk show. It’s so relaxing and yet I can’t wait to see what you’ll say next. It seems that we are researching the same goals and ideas when it comes to making videos. I am not polished like the big channels. I am just enjoying chronicling the things I’m interested in and my life in general. I love editing the videos. I use Filmora. I have 4 channels actually. I have 1 baby sensory channel on the same account as my main one But I have 2 other separate accounts that were old channels I forgot about and didn’t do much with them. I am now reviving them. The reason is I’m putting different videos on them and I’m curious as to how they will grow. But my main channel is the one I love. And it is the one I’m working on the hardest to record my skills in canning, and fiber crafts and my husbands large gardens. Thanks Jen for your hard work!
My dog is a cavapoo and looks so much like yours! IDK if you told what breed your puppy is. I've been enjoying your series on growing your channel. It's very inspiring. I've thought of making a channel for about a year or two, but I have a lot of stoppers, like I don't know enough about technology, I'm not special enough, I can't possibly keep up with posting on RU-vid and Insta and Facebook, etc. Many stoppers. I love that you are doing it!! And you make it seem kind of easy! Thank you.
i think the edinburgh castle video is more of a search video that can perform over time, and the single supplement video may have been a term that a lot of people just don't know? i'm a solo traveler too and i had never heard of it, so maybe changing the title to describe it in another way could draw more views
Loving your videos and really appreciate this inspiration and REAL guidance from a REAL person on how to grow a small channel and monetize from scratch. Subscribed!
I'm so enjoying this series Jen, especially as I know you have become so very successful! I'm at the start of this RU-vid journey & you are so inspiring! Thank you
3:48 "If this channel could make me just 100 dollars per month..." I know you made over 2,500 dollars just a few months ago in spring of 2024! Congratulations!
Hi Jen, Nice to hear and see you again. I’m a retired computer programmer so yes, we do exist. I still love using the computer for lots of research. Currently in the process of filing my taxes. Never stop learning.
I’m new to your channel and a 68 year old solo cruiser. I’ve been having lots of trouble finding these solo cabins. Could you give me some advice / insights on this. Difficult for a retiree to afford cruises.
Hi kittybob. Working with a cruise travel agent would be your best bet, I think. You don't pay the agent, the cruise line does! Norwegian has the new solo class cabins, I did a video on them here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7bWkD9Zqfrk.html Best of luck!
I’m so glad that I stumbled across your channel 👍🏼 maybe you can make a tutorial video about what you learned on how to record your laptop screen and yourself at the same time? 😊
Continuing to learn is key. I know so many people older than me that just plain refuse to even try. Now that they are alone, they struggle and need to depend on others to help them with so many things online related. Some are just plain stubborn lol while a couple I know are just scared of the technology. I hope you continue your journey and I’m looking forward to restarting my YT journey.
Hi Jenn, I found you today, and have been watching your content for the last few hours. I am only on episode six of this playlist, but I can already tell that from when you started in January to present day (March 19) you definitely have exploded. In a couple hours I’ve been watching you went from 14.5 K to 14.6K. I am looking forward to the next four episodes in this playlist to come up to date! I definitely fall in your demographic, a few years older, and actually retired, but definitely a silver solo traveler! I love cruising, and I’m grateful that I have three siblings (who like me are also silver and solo), and we travel together frequently, at least twice a year. Thanks for your content, I intend to continue watching your success and enjoying your videos.❤️ from Ontario🇨🇦. edited 6 hours later to add: now you’re at 14.8K. Would love to hear how that happened! Congratulations!
Just subscribed! I’m loving your series on how you talk about what you’re doing and how you are growing. I think I’m gonna start doing the same thing as well to also help other small channels!
Hi Jen, thank you for making these videos. You're an inspiration to me. From watching others they say it can take a year to really lift your subscribers and its difficult to see what attracts people. Anyway keep it up! I've recently taken flexi retirement and loving it. I checked out the meet up website and signed up for tail chi and a knitting group. While I'm here wondered if you've experienced any ageism at work? I have a colleague who is causing me to loose confidence. Thanks again Jen x
I like "flexi retirement"! My current employer and co workers are great...I don't see any ageism here, but I have at my previous employer. What others think of you is not important....believe in yourself and let them think what they want. :)
That’s crazy! I’m looking forward to going to watch the castle tour! I’ve always wanted to visit a castle! I’ve always wanted to live in one too lol. We gotta dream, right??!! Lol
Love you. Love this channel. Gonna watch all the monetize videos them conna watch the rest of them. I can't thank you enough for documenting your journey.
I am enjoying your videos so much and really appreciate your honesty in the struggle to figure it out. You are so inspiring and encouraging. I’m so glad that I found your channel!
This is fabulous Belinda! Thanks so much! But remember, I'm Canadian, and so, "big" is what I know! The Ghan is on my bucket list as an epic rail journey, but I'm now adding all of your reccy's too!
That video was very helpful for me to hear you saying the couple things that you learned along the way that will make it easier for the audience to also follow or learn, thank you!
