For an efficient route, you could try changing Google map settings to EV and the “prefer fuel efficient routes” when setting up a route. You can also change the settings to avoid motorways and tolls if needed

Stop grabbing that front brake while turning! If you want to use it, be gentle with it and progressively squeeze it. Grabbing a handful will throw you off 99% of the time, even in a straight line. Progressive braking is key to load up the front tyre.

@funforluis Hello from Trujillo Perú. Walker mode on Google Maps shows altitude. Lifting 1kg 1m takes 9.8 Joules of energy. 1wh=3600j It's very important to calculate energy consumption. Going up hill 10k can use as much battery as riding 50k on the flat. Reduce your centre of gravity. Put your extra battery between your legs, not on the back of your scooter.

Just a thought, but would your back up power bank fit between your feet on the "running" board? If so, it might help with keeping a lower point of gravity.

Why don’t you have one of the panels facing the sun and plugged in while you ride?

I think when you dropped it at the ferry, I would of just left it there and walked home, that was so hard to watch 🤣🤣 I bet the other bikers haven't stopped telling that story to everyone they meet. To pick a bike up, push your bum into the seat, gran the handle bar and back of the bike with your other hand and push up and stand up with it.

GPS, try Wayz, if you use bicycle guidance, you may save on steep elevations. Good luck. Pack small snacks like mini burgers.

What an adventure ,so nice to see ,you get the essence ,of biking (even if it is electric) You are in the environment ,huge difference ,to driving .

Another shout for Komoot for planning your route. Glad you worked out that putting it on the centre stand whilst stood next to it is the way forward. Lastly if you drop it again face away from the bike and use your legs to lift it up a little at a time is much easier.

One piece of advice would be to perhaps turn the "ignition" off when you come to a stop. It looks like you accidentally pulled the throttle when those guys were trying to help you. Could've ended badly if it had gone into the back of all those bikes. Good luck!

Hi Louis, I use calimoto for road riding on a motorbike. Avoids motorways and you can customise your route. Well done for taking on this challenge a great way to travel and explore 🙏👍🏍️

Use brouter for planning and locus maps for navigation with the file you created in brouter. There's plenty of vehicle parameters to choose from, even velomobiles have several depending on your gusto.

Doesn't Google Maps let you choose the route? I take out all highways' and tollways. I don't think it takes out hills. lol back to the battery countdown!

Be careful charging with the battery in your cargo box. The fans need air flow to keep them cool while they charge the scooter! Probably wasting a lot of power on the fans running harder than they need to

I remember discussing with you, traveling across the US in your VW bus on nothing but solar energy. Much more of a dream than reality. This, however, is very doable. However,…you got me started on a campaign to have the percentage of renewable energy indicated on every. EV charge dispenser…so that folks can do just that. Don’t ever underestimate the influence that you have.

it's best not to get the battery below 10% as if you drain the battery to 0% not only damages the battery but the BMS my break and you will not be able to charge again. I have a NIU and this is what they told me when I bought it from a main dealer.

Don't worry about dropping the bike in front of those guys :D There's two kinds of bikers: those that have dropped their bikes and those that haven't YET dropped their bikes :D And bikers tend to be chill and can give you good advice and a hand in getting the bike upright again.

Just an observation but if you use folding solar panels you can drape them over the back of the bike or your own back and they will at least put some nominal charge in while you're riding.

1:45 Dude your dad is so youthful. He could do a youtube channel. 7:18 it seems like we've gone back in time. In the 90s we had jetferries and hovercrafts. Now it is back to slow ferries. It took me 35 minutes to cross the English channel on a hovercraft once.

I had a similar one. I could do just under 130 miles between the 2 batteries (and I only used 1 at a time) and top speed was about 35mph. It does not have regen but you don't need it downhill anyway
