Tears rolling down my face as you came up to the finish line with Freddie cheering you on. Way to go Sarah! This has inspired me to stop viewing a marathon as a pipe dream and instead take it on!
Our local Blackmores Sydney Marathon next year would be fab (recently nominated to become a major - fingers crossed!) but an overseas marathon would be beyond incredible.
Full on bawled at the end watching you speed past people with Freddie cheering you and having that complete faith. What an incredible result! Sarah you're such an inspiration.
-30 on last km is outstanding. And I agree with others in their posts, you certainly owe Freddie a drink. it was your legs but also his encouragement that got you sub 4 hours 👏👏👏
Brilliant well done. I’m so pleased for all three of you for breaking 4 hours - think you owe Freddie a drink for all his encouragement over that last km😅
Well done Sarah! 25 minutes off your PB is AMAZING! Shout out to Freddy as well for all the unsung work he does behind the camera pacing the presenters. Would love a short on his own running.
Sarah, you are SUCH a champion!! My god, that last 30 seconds were the best but if suspense ever and you pushed so, so hard. Like many others, I’ve got tears in my eyes. Full marks to Freddie for his encouragement and dedication to helping you. Another champion, no doubt. I hope he enjoyed the beer you no doubt got him. 🎉
That was surprisingly emotional for me. You must be so proud of yourself! Watching you overtake all those people in that final dash was unreal. Super job Sarah - enjoy your well earned recovery.
I ran the same race and we’re etched into the history books of being part of the new world record race! I felt emotional watching this and could see how much that sub 4 hours meant! You absolutely blasted down the last 400m! You were flying past everyone! I’ve got a big target for Edinburgh marathon next year and really hope it goes like this 😊 (maybe with a few seconds extra to spare right enough just to decrease the stress levels!😂) Congrats! 👏🏻
Well done Sarah. 18 years ago I was exactly where you were. Berlin Marathon with the aim of a sub 4. This brought it all back as if it has been yesterday. Running towards the Brandenburger Tor at the end and mobilising everything you have for the finish is an unbeatable feeling. One of my proudest moments ever. Thank you for that. Tears were rolling when I watched your video. You looked still so strong when you run your last few hundred meters. Congratulations! Fantastic time.
The sub 4 is impressive, but I am even more in awe at the incredible finish! Pushing fast and hard after a long tough sub 4 marathon effort and not just for 400m? That's incredible! It may also show, that there is potential for even bigger achievements in the future
I come back this every now and then because it’s so bloody brilliant. By one second Sarah!! I forgot quite how fast you ran that last section. The speed you were passing people was insane
Thank you that inspires me so much, it seemed so emotional! I just did my first half marathon in Oct now my first marathon will be in April in London, I want to go under 4hours too. Now to fit in all the prep as I never ran more than 2hrs! Let's go!!!
Well done, amazing job to you and Katie. Finish push was amazing, goose bumps and cheering for you ( loudly) as you crossed the line. You are inspiring! Got to give a shout out to Freddy for his support and encouragement and of course his amazing footage.

I didnt expect to me so emotional invested in this vid. Great ducking job! The fact that your were filming and running at the same time. Also, the fact that you still had post race interview just blows my mind
It’s 9am on a Saturday morning in the Philippines as I was watching this and now I am crying tears of joy in front of coffee praying that my fiancé won’t wake up because I would look really silly crying over a running video on youtube. 😂😂😂 so happy for you and for hitting that goal.
This was an awesome running channel vid, possibly my favourite ever. Really emotional watching the sprint finish(which seemed a really long sprint!) Great job all. Got to say if i ever get to a marathon i think i am going to need a Freddie!
Wow well done Sarah!!! You've smashed it! You're my inspiration, tomorrow is the London Marathon and despite the weather forecast I will try and go join the thousand of people to support amazing runners. It might just inspire me to sign up for 2023.
Congratulations Sarah!!!! I was sitting on the edge of my chair cheering you on for the last stretch! You looked so strong. 🏃♀️ 🏅 👏 loved the message run the mile you’re in.
Absolutely amazing! Well done Sarah. I'm training for my very 1st marathon that's happening in 9 weeks time. First goal is just to complete the marathongo second goal is to get a sub 4,30. Sub 4.... I will KIV that for the time being.
Well done!!! I find my mental math skills are at their strongest when I am calculating time on the course. I did my latest marathon in 3:51:45 and was thrilled to break 4 hours again. I have Boston and London marathons on my bucket list!
Wow what an amazing video. Really nice build up and when you was getting to the finish my heart was in my mouth. The encouragement to get you across the line was so exciting and nearly had me welling up. Congratulations, awesome achievement.
You absolute rock star! That final push was something to behold, its so amazing what we can find in our legs when the finish line is in sight and the clock is ticking away. Huge congrats to you, what an effort!
I cried for you too Sarah loved this video. M 2 of my daughters are going to attempt their first marathkns this year. Tegan does Paris and Alanna does Cork City. I'll be in bits when they cross the finish line
That was fantastic! I didn’t expect to be so moved but after having run a marathon myself, well do I understand the emotions. You let it rip in those last few seconds. I feel so motivated watching your effort. Congratulations on your time. Well earned.
omg congratulations, Sarah! that is such a huge PR and accomplishment. I was literally on the edge of my seat as you ran up that final stretch and Freddie was telling you that you had thirty seconds and then 15 seconds to go to meet your goal! I would absolutely love to do the Berlin marathon someday, but we'll see what I say after I do my first marathon ONE WEEK from today at the Chicago Marathon! thanks for all the inspiration!💜💜💜
I want to say a very well done. You're smashing your running and you've really come far on your running journey. I wonder if people that run get tear eyed because they saw family. It wasn't until I didy first race that I understood. Something happened and I was realky emotional nearing the end and I had to hold back tears when I crossed the finish line. If it hadn't happened to me, I wouldn't have fully understood how emotional completing the race would turn out.
Such an emotional and inspirational moment! After seeing your progression on this channel I feel like we are all just so happy for your accomplishment of a sub-4 hour marathon! Congratulations!!
Well done Sarah!! Congratulations for such a great milestone!! I also managed to get my sub 4 PB in Berlin! It was great to meet you in the metro! Cheers from São Paulo 🇧🇷!
Absolute legend!!!! Well done to you both. Inspiring running. I'm doing my first marathon in Amsterdam this year after watching you last year!!! Go Sarah!!!!!
Woweee... STRONG FINISH!!! Well done Sarah! I ran my first marathon in Melbourne on the weekend and managed to dip in under 4 hours but absolutely did not finish like that.. That's super inspiring and powerful 💪
Well done Sarah! I get allso under 4 hour for the first time this year. Sweden Helsingborg Marathon 👍 an 62 year old. It's never too late to begin running, I started 3 years ago. My tactic is to rest at all drink stations
You are such an inspiration! Been watching for so many years and took on the courage to sign up for a marathon too!!! I’m ready to take on the challenge!!!!! Hopefully, I get to participate Berlin marathon too!!!!
You did amazing Sarah! I did Berlin this year too and without a doubt it was the best race I've ever done! The atmosphere was just overwhelming and thats what got me over the finish line! Thanks for inspiring me to take on these challenges :)
That was amazing. I was running there as well. Just did London on Sunday and have Chicago this Sunday. Definitely want to do Berlin again as I had issues with blisters. 😢
Hey, you've really come on in the last year or two. Very impressive. Sub-4s will become routine for you going forward, I'm sure. I enjoyed watching your finish. You showed a lot of guts.
I'm so happy for you Sarah! All your hard work really paid off... To grit it out at the end with very tired legs showed how much you wanted it! Great job! Also, a big thank you to Freddy! :)
Well done, you are very strong! I would like to recommend you the Budapest Marathon next year, it will be the 150. anniversary of the city with a special route.
Congratulations - well done! I have done dozens of marathons and longer races and I get choked every time I see someone digging deep like you did in Berlin. You looked so strong at the end, just passing people by the dozens. Don't be surprised that the next time you challenge yourself at this distance, that you don't lop off another huge chunk of time. But for now, just enjoy your effort and time. You certainly earned it.
I literally screaming go!.. go! on your last minutes (even though knowing that this is a recording)... what an amazing finish!!!! congratulations!! Sub 4 for marathon is in my bucket list.
Oh my gosh! That was thrilling to watch! Massive congratulations Sarah! Just finished the London marathon today with aim for sub 6hrs - I DID IT! It’s nothing compared to yours but the emotional rollercoaster, I feel you 😁
Just amazing & inspirational. My wife had to haul out the tissues (for her) as the last few minutes of the video was so motivating and to have a friend to do it with.
OMG, that's it. End The Running Channel right here and right now. There will never be another ending like this one... Sarah, you are amazing and looked so smooth picking off all those runners at the end. You were running on air!! Epic...
Another awesome job! Loved seeing Sarah pick up the pace in those final moments of the race and hearing Freddie encouraging her along the way. So good.
Kept checking for myself in your video 😅, I ran Berlin this year as well (my second ever marathon) and finished sub 4 (3:51:32). Kudos to you Sarah, the months of training paid off 👏👏👏
Highly inspiring Sarah.. 😍😍 Thanks for sharing this video. When you were close to the finish line my heart was also racing like i myself was running. This has made me think that i can also achieve my dream of running a marathon at least once in my life..
Amazing, Sarah!!! Couldn’t even imagine running a marathon while holding filming gear and speaking to the camera (even a sneaky little mid-race interview with pineapple guy!). Fantastic job by the whole running channel team!
🎉I did not think I would feel so emotional watching the end. I kept wanting to yell “stop looking at your watch as you pushed hard at the end. Just run hard now! “ Congratulations all the way from Montreal!
