Show em how it's done! There's such a weird misconception that you have to spend ages on hair or if you use greases, butters, etc then you must have 10 hr wash days. Friday I showered, washed my hair, detangled, and blowdried my hair in 65min and that's including being distracted lol.

What you said about finger detangling not quite getting rid of all the shed hair rings true to me! I was wondering why my fine hair was webbing so much at the root after being left alone (plaited) for 2-3 days. Once I started adding regular (gentle) brushing to my routine, this eased up a whole lot.

I have hair like this. A LOT of hair and very fine strands. Plus I have a big head. So a lot of daily shedding. Finger detangling is a must for me. Hair like this really just needs to be de-shed and separated (exactly how Narada is doing) often, and it will be great.

Not folks beating up people heads! 😂 I used to wonder if I was tender headed and I was like nah it’s the stylist. My hair strands are fine and I need to pull my hair apart in sections too if I don’t do the pre-poo work. This was both relaxing and educational as always! Came back to say ticklin the booty cheeks! 😆😆 yes girl shut up lol
@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 Год назад
I pre-poo to make the whole process easier...But I pre-poo with a detangling product for 30 minutes while I do some life admin, laundry or chores. Then I run the wide tooth seamless combe throw it. When I shampoo I keep my head tilted back and run my fingers the same way Narada did. Too many people bunch up their strands while shampooing...never do that because like he said if you are one of those with the cuticle that likes to web you will be in a whole world of trouble.

You got me. I only finger detangle my hair. I get intimidated by tools. My strands are very fine 😅. I'm glad I did see this video, though. I tried your detangling method, and it worked but...I thought I was doing something wrong since there was more hair in the brush, lol. So I just quit afterward. After watching this video, it makes sense now. Those are hairs I just missed 😭

me2! I only finger detangle my fine dense strands. Believe me I tried once to detangle with brush and threw it on the floor. I'm thinking to myself how do these ladies detangle with a brush??am I missing something? I just can't do it because I need all my strands. Now that I have a better understanding of how to detangle with a tool (still won't do it) I will file this info away maybe for another time. I truly admire how he takes his time and treats her hair with respect and care. Hopefully, one day I can see myself going back into the salon and feeling safe.

Hugs. I have ultra-fine hair. I detangle weekly and keep my hair stretched. I use a seamless wide tooth comb with a detangling pre-poo to start. Then I use a detangling shampoo and deep condtioner and use fingers and the seamless wide tooth comb again. After I use 20 sectioning clips with leave in detangler on damp hair and go through section by section with a medium toothed seamless comb and as my hair is getting longer. Tangle Teezer Fine and Fragile Wet Detangler Hairbrush. On episode of Netflix and it's done and twisted. Yeah my hair you can't feel the strand in between you fingers so I always new that finger detangling alone for me was out.
@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 Год назад
@@michelleeja412 I can use a comb or brush but I use seamless combs ( wide, medium and small) and the Tangle Teezer Fine and Fragile Wet Detangler Hairbrush on damp, shampooed, deep-conditioned hair in 20-section clips and an episode of Netflix with drinks and snacks. I keep my hair stretched and avoid it shrinking and drying out. I detangle weekly..... I remember when I detangled every 12 weeks after braids...yes it did take the whole damned day then. Lol! To put in the braids and to take down the braids. So glad I don't do this anymore I have so much more time!

Hair My end were trash with finger detangling. You can't feel my individual strands between my fingers so how you are going to feel to remove them, And I'm high density too! Sis is not trying to feel for ten thousand fine hairs of which 700 are shed.

I spend 30-45 mins to shampoo, conditioning and taking my bath. I don't detangle in the bathroom rather, I detangle before styling and my styling is between 1½-3 hours; the former is for wash-n-go and the latter for twaid. This also includes distractions from hubby and children.

I truly appreciate you doing this in real time bcuz my hair tangles just like that and its much longer than her's nd it takes me 2hrs or more nd I'm not a professional but I had to learn by trial nd error. I love my denim paddle brush nd it has made it so much easier; this why I do my own hair bcuz the density, tight curls, tangling nd just being tender headed a lone; so I do understand the cost nd with patience nd professionalism price would be worth it. 🙏💞👍

I use the Tangle Teezer Fine and Fragile Wet Detangler Hairbrush. My hair is ultra-fine to the point that the trichologists told me that the friction from long term tight braids was causing minuscule fractures in my strands. You can only see this under a trichoscope. I found that the Denman brushes didn't have enough flex but the tangle teezer has enough flex in the bristles and gets every single shed hair out.

Great video. I love watching you shampoo and detangle natural hair. As someone with very fine strands and medium to high density hair, I can say I used to always experience tangles at the root. But after implementing a few tips that you gave, such as opening the hair up during shampooing, adding more water to thick conditioners and squeezing excess conditioner out, finger detangling the right way and smoothing. I don't experience tangles at the roots anymore, just pretty much my ends. Also, I tend to stretch my hair the day before I wash it. I believe all the tips definitely prevent the tangling at the roots

Glad I watched this video because I’ve been feeling like a failure on my 6 -7 hour wash days. Looking at your clients hair it appears she and I have similar strands and density (at least in the middle sides, and back). I now know I just need to see a professional because standing in the shower, and doing the process you did at the shampoo bowl, takes me forever. 😭 The water in the shower gets cold and my arms/ shoulders start to hurt😢. Not to mention then moving to the chair (outside the shower) and further detangling. 😭😩 I take so many breaks that the wash, condition, detangle process ends up being 3-4 hours minimum. Sad I know 😭😭😭. So Yeh…lemme just make an appt. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I totally understand wanting to book an appointment. Just be sure that the "natural hair stylist" knows how to care for natural hair. The reason I follow him is because he is very well versed in caring for curly/coily/kinky hair in its natural state. A lot of natural hair stylists want to use heat before dealing with hair. Or they don't detangle. Just take your time and be patient to find the right stylists.

To me it doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as your doing it on a day you have the time to do it and your not having to rush through it and it works for you and gets your hair how you want it, I get not everyone has that much time to spend on their hair but 1hr ain’t that short of time either so what’s a few more hours if that’s what you need for you to do your hair, it’s a major pain in the a** but whadaya gonna do unless you go shaved buzz cut or pixie

Thank you for this video!! This is my hair exactly except not as dense. Fine strands with A LOT of elasticity and shed hair that wraps around the other strands that are still attached. Keeping my hair stretched out while detangling is the only way I can do it effectively. I envy those people who can run a brush or comb through their hair from root to tip without holding the section the entire time. I used to detangle before, during and after washing. It was way too much and it made me neglect my hair more because I didn't want to do all that detangling. I considered chopping all my hair off several times but I knew that wouldn't solve my problem. HOW DO I WASH MY HAIR? Thank you for all of your videos and willingness to answer questions honestly and saying you don't know instead of making something up. 🥰🥰

I left a comment on the video that led me here and I DAMAGED MY OWN HAIR WITH HEAT FROM A BLOW DRYER. It was SO bad that I had to BIG CHOP AGAIN! I'm 100% behind you. I don't need any study, I don't need words of professionals because my own personal experience is evidence enough to refuse to sit in the chair of a stylist who "blow dries all clients hair." I wouldn't use her.

I usually do a hot oil treatment the night before so when I go to shampoo, I’ve taken out a lot of tangles already. I recently saw a stylist and took her advice along with yours. I’m so much happier following a simple, common sense, routine. I was like, let me listen to people who have been doing this for years and went to school for it. So glad I humbled myself 🙂 the internet is a wealth of knowledge but can have me feeling like I already know it all.

Her hair style is nice and you did a really good job. Her hair quality looks a little frizzy, I'm comparing it to my son's hair when I complete it. The strands are smooth without any fraying. He has about the exact same hair quality. I just wash, condition and rectangle as I re-twist. It doesn't take me that long at all. There is very little hair loss. I guess my choice of products work very well on his hair. (4c)

Such positive vibes here! 🥰 I really don’t understand how wash days can be 4-6 hours when hair isn’t even waist length or something to give a reason these days. I wonder is it the detangling or what takes so much time? 2hours of deep conditioning🤷🏾‍♀️

It's the detailing especially if you get 100s of knots. That was the case for me anyway
@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 Год назад
@@SE-gs6gd I avoid getting my hair into knots. I keep my hair stretched and detangle every week. The longer you wait to detangle and the more you let the hair shrink without the product the more knots you will have.

For me it's the detangling, but that's mainly because I don't comb/detangle often. It's a trade off.

I did the big chop in 2012 and didn't look back. Thank you for this video. I know I need more patience with my hair and I try to watch these professional tutorials. I will watch this several times. I can see it will require me to pick up updated tools. *I am a chronic insomniac.* I have had trouble with falling asleep or staying asleep since I was 5 years olf. That's over several decades. The technique I use is to stick to some strict rules, especially when I'm stressed. (I will not go into the list of stressors but here's my process.) 1. No entertainment in the bedroom: no tv. 2. White noise machine

The first step for me is a shampoo that also detangles. Camille Rose castor oil one is top tier. Sometimes I don't use conditioner. I use slippery gel product like uncle funky's or a gel cream. I do my hair every 2-4 days before it can get too tangled. I have thinnish hair and I keep it fairly short because I just don't have time for all dat. I sure dry. Takes me about 15 min to do my hair 👍🏾
@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 Год назад
My first step is not to let my hair get shrunken and too tangled in the first place. I keep it stretched and/or organised in formation with a heavy styling product and detangle it at least every 7-10 days. If it ever gets really bad, detangling pre-poo, detangling shampoo, moisturising deep conditioner, and always leave in detangler before any combs and brushes. I love that Narada keep that hair stretched!

This is why I locked my hair. Its dense but the strands are fine. I would get so many single strand knots when I'd wash it. Plus my hair would grow very fast and shed so i had breakage but the density would camouflage alot of it. It was just super frustrating trying to deal with that.
