Can I Survive 100 Days in The Long Dark?

Tip 1: you can go nearly 3 full days without food before you are basically doomed to die, so dont keep topping up for no reason. Tip 2: Craft torches to get full durability torches. do NOT take them from the Fireplaces as that is gonna waste fuel from the fire. Tip 3: only read books during days when the weather is bad while inside and during the Aurora, as it gived enough light to let you read. Tip 4: lack of water and cold are the biggest killers in the game outside of angry wild animals, so keep yourself warm and do not travel in snowstorms unless ABSOLUTELY needed!! Tip 5: during the day, if the weather is nice, spend as much time outside as you can. getting Cabin Fever is a killer in the game and can be the thing that ends an entire run. Tip 6: if you find a house that has any sort of balcony or fenced section near a door, you can use those areas to store Meat and keep it cold for the longevity of it, allowing you to store cooked meats for MUCH longer, which can be absolute saviors when you go around 2 days without eating. Tip 7: PRIORITIZE WATER OVER FOOD IN THE START! Dehydration kills MUCH quicker than Starvation in the game, just like in real life, so stock up on the food and water while you can. Tip 8: you can drop or store items in Cabinets or even on the floor. this allows for storing large quantities of water and other items inside of houses for when it is needed. Tip 9: SET UP CHECKPOINTS IN SAFE LOCATIONS! when traveling, mapping out areas is essential for survival!! knowing an area and having a Safehouse of sorts WILL save your ass anytime you need a place to stay for when snowstorms roll in or in case of other emergencies. Have at least 3 places in each region as a dedicated safezone. this WILL save your runs! those are most of the general as well as long-term tips i have to give. i have around 3k hours in the game, so i know lmost everything there is to know about surviving over long runs in the game. i play on Interloper most of the time, which is the hardest difficulty lol. if it saves my hide on that difficulty, it should save anyone that plays on lower difficulties with ease.

A tip for you: If i remember right starving does 1% damage per hour so you can go over 3 days whitout food, so dont risk your life for a scrap of food if you are otherwise healthy

The entire first half video I was freaking out about "rabbit starvation" (the fact that a diet based around rabbit meat will kill you over time because the meat is too lean ) only to look it up and realize thats not even in the game. I swear I thought it was. Oh well, guess it cant be 100% realistic.

5:12 The water in the toilet's tank is actually safe to drink, the bowl is a different story... That tank aint getting shat or pissed in unless you live with a psycho, and it's "municipal water" aka tap water, so you'd be pretty fine unless you live in Flint or there's mold in there.

tip for you, to avoid wasting matches, have atleast 1 torch on you and when you want to light up a fire, use your match to light up the torch and then use that torch to start fire, if you fail to start it you will still have the torch to try again, and also lighting up a torch can scare wolfes like a flare does

I have ADHD and literally can't sit through any video without having to do like 3 other things to keep my brain occupied. This time, I sat through the entire hour watching with complete interest, even closing the game I had running because I wasn't playing it, I was just watching the video. I'd personally LOVE to see a 200 day playthrough because it's not often I can just sit and watch something undisturbed!

I’ve wanted to watch a video on this game for a while but every video I came across was made by very experienced players that always had buffs from past games and never explained anything, so I’m glad you made a video on it and I got to learn with you. It’s very well done and I really hope you end up making another, or a continuation to this one. ❤

important tip: campfires can keep bears at bay and this way you can shoot them, its a bit risky, and if you get too close to the bear or too far from the fire it will chargue you so be careful, campfires also scare wolves (DO NOT USE TORCHES TO HUNT BEARS. IT DOES NOT WORK IN THE SLIGTHEST.) tip: if you are starving but need to sleep try to eat what little you have before sleeping, that way it'll heal and you'll be able to bear the health loss you'll suffer from starvation the next day while looking for food tip: when harvesting a big carcass like a deer, wolf, bear or moose have a campfire with enough fuel to harvest for example 10% of the total meat or some guts the animal has, then drop the meat a bit far away from you, that way predators wont try to kill you while you harvest it, then simply repeat the process until you're satisfied tip: if you know really well the map but got lost and you cant afford the time to use a little charcoal bc of cold weather or predators nearby, you can use a spray can if you have one to reveal your location instantly and know where you are (altought its a really REALLY small area, but it helps you to know if you're near a corner of the region or close to a shelter, but it works better if you've charted a bit of the map frist) but it dosent work during wind storms, fog or nights sadly tip: Keep moving util you find either enough materials to make a bow and have a few arrows or you find a rifle with a couple bullets, then hunt deer, or wolves if you are desperate enough tip: to make wolves run, make sure to have a torch or a flare light up, then drop it to the ground and point a rock at the wolf, normally it'd chargue at you if you dont have the torch and you just used the rock, but it'll instantly run thanks to the torch (and DO NOT charge at the wolf with the flare or torch, neither you throw it at him, it does work sometimes but it has a chance to fail and make the wolf maul you, almost lost a safe file once because of that) hope it helps, i know its really long tips but im sure they'll help you mostly for wild animals, good luck :D

To answer the question "Do fish have vitamin c". yes and no. As vitamin c is very heat sensitive it doesn't survive the cooking process. If not cooked it is actually a very good source of vitamin c. Something discovered by the Inuit peoples.

Love the video and your take on the games mechanics, lol. It's one of my favorite games, and I'm honestly surprised at the progress you made. The funny thing about stalker difficulty is that it's not slightly harder than the normal difficulty. it's essentially just "wow, that's a lot of wolves!" Difficulty. It's more of a survival wolf shooter than a harder survival. Would love to see a 200 days.

I would love to see more of this game. Maybe you could just complete it in one or two videos (I don’t know how much story is still left) without the restriction of lasting 100 days so you can take your time :)

Pro tip for anyone new to this game: don’t run, especially when the regular wolves see you. They have 3 modes normal, stalk and attack as long as you just walk away when it’s stalking you’ll be fine but if you run, aim a weapon or get too close it will go into attack mode. Also be cautious with getting out of its line of sight, while you can possibly lose them that way it’s going to run to the last spot it seen you before searching a bit for you losing ground between you and it.

Every play through of Survival mode is different as you write your own story and the game is so damn immersive. Can't believe that I almost passed (and did for several months) on playing this game. Quick subscribe. Love this game for how simple/obvious/realistic the crafting is. I hate crafting in games usually but its a major art of this game but done correctly.

best food management usually is starving the whole day, then eating 750 kcal before sleeping. hp lost during the day is easily recovered that way.

excellent video, this is one of my favorite games. a sandbox whose permadeath and mechanics make it a very narratively engaging game, as the needs/afflictions drive the gameplay. The stories concocted by playing this game (survival mode) is one if its special features, struggles and overcoming them boosts the investment in the characters survival.

i don’t know if you got to figure out what tea helps food poisoning but its reishi tea you need 1 prepared reishi mushroom 0.25 liters of potable water and it takes 10 minutes to make at a lit fire

I’m surprised that you managed to last this long despite all the mistakes you’ve been making at the start XD Here’s a tip for you for when you’re hunting; you can quarter your kills and carry your haul with you to harvest everything later. It can be useful to stash things for if they’re too heavy or if a bear or something is wandering nearby. Just be sure to keep your head on a swivel since it still takes time and things can sneak up on you. I learned that the hard way “XD

Since you’ve done the long dark you should try the long drive, it’s much simpler and can be quite fun to do, if you want something that’s more experimental though you can always try mist survival

Only 6 mins in and i already love it :) just to let you know, the water you took from the toilet was from the tank - that water in the tank is always okay to drink and is very clean. But yes, don't drink water from the bowl, lol

I think everyone in this comment section would love to see a part 2 But I will say to all that are reading this, it probably won’t be here for a long time do to how long 100 days takes to make (I don’t know how long the day are in that game but I know the editing takes a lot of time) And ty for the heart:)

It annoys me to an unreasonable degree watching as every time you get jumped by a wolf you pick to smack it in the head with your revolver instead of using any of the better melee weapons you have on you. Love the video ❤

TIP: you can check to see if you hit your shot with the revolver/rifle/bow if you see a little skill increase icon on the middle-right hand side of the screen. Fires scare wolves and bears, and the flare gun scares everything, including moose. Hope this helps!

hey, I'm a bit late but I really enjoyed this video and I would love if you continued it for the record, you've explored 2 regions, but there's another 10, more if you count the transition zones and the DLC regions :)

Flares torchs and campfires keep wolves at bay but if theres a aurora they will completely ignore them all predators are more dangerous on auroras ( also i highly suggest getting the far territorys dlc before its finished)
