Started A1C at 9.6...end of 90 day cycle of carnivore A1C 6.9. Total cholesterol down from 146 to 101. Triglycerides down from 588 to 247. Carnivore works.

The answer is No. you can avoid sugar spikes by cutting out carbohydrates. That isn’t the same thing. You don’t grow a replacement leg by simply choosing not to walk. It can be reduced in three ways. Losing weight, Taking more exercise, By cutting out all dairy and meat fat for a period of time, then adding in plant based whole foods that contain a healthy balance of fats. (Healthy means, including omega 3 rich legumes, walnuts, green veg and not just eating omega 6 rich sources such as refined oils and pecan nuts) There is no benefit from carnivore other than short term weight loss and learning diet discipline that can then be modified to a more healthy diet.

With Ozempic and diet and weight lifting I have turned the tide against insulin resistance. For the first time in 16 years my HDL is high, my triglycerides are dead in the middle of Normal, and my visceral fat is gone. I still have the abdominals muscles to build back, at 74 that will be difficult. My Dr. never believed that there is such a condition as insulin resistance. Thank you Dr. Bickman, it was your videos and advice that propelled my journey. I have a question, when can I determine when to end the Ozempic, I have already ended the Jardience. My guts can't handle much more of the Ozempic gut and diarrhea, and the price is way too high.

It might be because of nutritional defiencency. Particularly not enough vitamin D3, chromium, magnesium or vitamin B1. Meaning way before you started carnivore you might have been and still be defiencent. Look into Benfotiamine.

My blood sugar goes high and stays high. I’m attempting carnivore now, but even on insulin (which causes blood sugar to lower if I eat carbs) it gets up into the 250 range and sits there. Exercise brings it down, but it just goes right back up. I feel like it’ll never get to a place where I can stop the insulin and lose weight. I keep gaining. This is frustrating.

Doc, when you say ketogenic diet, how do you define it? There are many different definitions on the internet. In my opinion it has to do with ketones - if you produce .5mmol/L or greater ketones you are in ketosis and therefore on a ketogenic diet. However, some people on the internet label a particular diet ketogenic without caring about ketones. People like Dr. Westman call a diet ketogenic even if the person following their "keto" diet is not in ketosis. I'm hoping you prefer the scientific definition that relates to ketones, but I would like to know your definition of a ketogenic diet.

How long does it take for insulin resistance to go away if someone like me was eating a SAD diet their entire life? 1 month? 6 months? Longer?
@GerbenWulff
@GerbenWulff 4 месяца назад
On a SAD diet insuline resistance only gets worse. You have to reduce your carbohydrate intake in order to reduce your insuline resistance.
@matthewmitchell5721
@matthewmitchell5721 4 месяца назад
If you go low-carb, by 3 months, you should have results. It can even happen little by little each month. You have to be consistent. Good luck
@tprev400
@tprev400 4 месяца назад
Keto / Carnivore will give you outstanding results compared to SAD, in many respects. However, it won't necessarily remove just fix it on it's own and it could take longer than a few months. For some, they see immediate results, others, to fully heal it could take years. Also, be sure to track your macros, get a glucometer or some way to measure your BG. Don't be afraid to add animal fat and play around with protein ratios to see if you get different results. There are some really loud voices all over RU-vid that will be very vocal about protein not increasing your glucose, that is just not true for a lot of people. Read through the comments, and you will see what I am talking about.

@tprev400
@tprev400 4 месяца назад
I would put a very cautious yes on that. Insulin resistance, possible, diabetes, not so much, at least not without controlling the amount of macros. I am an example. While I can't answer the question of how exactly my insulin is triggered, since you can't test in the moment, I can say, 100%, that if I eat over 120g of protein a day for several days, my BG sugars will rise to pre-diabetic and type 2 diabetic levels and stay there. When I lower them to under 100g of protein per day after about a week they go to optimal levels (75 - 85). I know others that experience the same thing.

so, YOU DONT KNOW! dont comment on what YOU DONT KNOW! ill trust the DR.'s answer , thanks!
@tprev400
@tprev400 4 месяца назад
@@KarmenD-ce5re What I know is that if I eat over a certain amount of protein per day I will get Type 2 diabetic levels chronically even in the absence of exogenous glucose. I am also aware many others experience this, so in that regard, I do know. What I don't, know, an either does any doctor regardless of credentials knows, is how each individual is affected by insulin in that moment because it can't be tested in the moment with any significant measurement. Even if you don't personally experience this, assuming you actually religiously test for yourself, it doesn't mean damage is not happening. Much like it takes decades to discover the damage high glucose does to an individual. Excessive amts of protein or energy intake make be doing the same. Mos of these doctors are working off theories, you shouldn't trust anyone 100%. You should test for yourself and be very intentional about it, or don't, and just blindly trust them, until you find out the hard way.

How bad is milk, the lactose, for a diabetic or any one with insulin resistans?
@carnigoth
@carnigoth 4 месяца назад
Dairy promotes growth - it's designed for babies to grow. It will stall your progress or make you gain weight. The perfect mix of carbs, protein and fat might not be helpful for insulin resistance. It's also potentially addictive and may lead to overeating.

@mirandafriske4525
@mirandafriske4525 4 дня назад
I hate to break it to you, but Lactose free milk does not have the sugars taken out, it has the sugars broken down so it's easier to digest. Lactose free milk is actually sweeter tasting than regular milk and probably spikes blood sugars worse than regular milk. Regular milk has the more complex sugars that many can't break down, lactose free has more simple sugars that have already been broken down.

You need to consume very little protein (if you are female around 70g of protein and around 200g fat)...With IR your body cannot process protein, thus it ends up raising bs which in turns worsens IR and leads to diabetes..
