Ah jammed good will blasters. Brand new rapid strike for 3$ why? because a kid managed to jam parts of a mega dart in it. No idea how or why but hey 3$ for a 5 min fix, no complaints here.
The rapid tech was my first "nerf" modding project back in university. The magazine broke so I took it apart. Replaced the spring, made a leather sling, and modified the breech so it loads from the top in honour of the martini-henry. It served very well as a back up for several zombie survival games, and a personal primary for melee vs single shot rounds (forming firing lines with single shot long arms was a popular tactic as most of us were reenactors and history enthusiasts so we had the discipline and inclination to pull it off).
The rapid Tek is one I actually own and have a k26 in it with almost all of the internals made from metal I did it as a personal project in my machining class in highschool.
If you have both the rapidfire rifle and a spare predator that you don't care about, you can use the predator's spring and intermesh it with the rapidfire. You can also use the predator's o ring in it, as the predator's ring is slightly thicker. Then just do the AR removal from the shells and you get stellar performance while maintaining tacti-cool shell ejection.
Teleportato Bulletstorm if that's true, that's a load of ass. honestly, a centurion (if it were direct plunger) would be terrifying with a K26 sprong in it.
Speaking of metal casting, i know it'd be heavy as all hell, and very impractical, but could you theoretically make molds out of and make a full metal copy of a nerf gun? I'm pondering the idea out of boredom
Skittles, orange soda, and k26'd Sentinel. Damn fine day to relax with the hippest captain this side of the 'verse. I was surprised at the buzz bee rapid fire tek. Great potential for functional cosplay. Just need to get the proper dimensions to get us metal priming bars... I also think people should look into making custom catches that fit the magazine nerf blasters that fit the k26. Perhaps another small metal project when you reach that point? Have you got a buzz bee Reaper floating around? Would love to see how that one handles.
I agree. I want to do a Semi-Steampunk Wild West Nerf Loadout using the Rapid Fire Tek. I know the Sentinel is a better blaster but the shell feature is just cool. I apparently have someone who might be able to make me a metal priming bar. Alternatively I could jsut not be greedy and go with a slightly lighter spring... I would love better mag releases. They would not be hard. I do not yet. The Curator found one at Goodwill the other day. I hope to eventually.
I have a few ideas in mind for a back up primary that is based off of the sentinel either a spencer carbine repeater or Winchester model rifle. It is difficult to distinguish what the exact one I want to is as in the movie, White Fang, 1991 it is unclear what the main character Jack uses as his primary. And yes, it will be stock performance and color scheme.
Oooh, love the add-ons for that Sentinel! Might just try that out for mine... For concerns, I'd say 'Reinforce your Sentinel's plunger Rod, and pad it'. Even if the AR's in there, the padding can help keep it working longer, and of course you'll want to reinforce the length of the rod, the divet in the head, etc with some sort of strong putty or epoxy. I use epoxy for lightweight reasons. Alongside that, the things're stupid easy to brass breech, and work wonders when using either those pre-made stefans or full-length darts. Every little bit helps.
T3XT3ZZY_NERF have you considered chopping off the front section of the buzzbee blaster and using that on the sentinel to make it look more lever gun like ? I might have to do that myself if I can get ahold of a sentinel
I've actually opted to use the front end of the Ultra-Tek Predator, given its' wide diameter and the neat venting up front, give my brass breech some protection and style. The front of the RFT might look better though, I'll do some work of my own, there. Best of luck, either way!
How about making the Sentinel's Lever more oval where it hits the back of your fingers like the Slingfire's lever, padded for comfort, and still made out of metal as an upgrade for the Sentinel? The only reason why I would get the Slingfire is the shape and comfort of its lever. So if it was made out of metal, it would also need to be padded.
ive seen videos around somewhere for some hardware to fix up the clutch in the Slingfire to do a spring upgrade. it does however, as you said, restrict the ability to fling it around and do tricks -- which is the reason i personally want the blaster. it looks really fun to play with.
I know this video is a bit older at this point, but I've just watched it. One tip I could offer is that while I see many people upgrade many aspects of blasters, not one in memory has taken the stance of getting a good machine shop involved in making much more durable internals. In the case of wanting to simply go all out, my idea would be as follows (I come from a background of working with machining and hydraulics for the past 6 years or so): The Buzz Bee Sentinel could use a steel priming rod with either a integrated piston head, or a brass piston threaded onto the end of the steel rod. Pair that up with a brass plunger tube/breech assembly and you'd have a bullet proof setup. Now I want to do that, lol.
There are folks who have go to that level. Either machining or casting metal parts. I would love to have some metal parts for some of my blasters but honestly I don't feel it is worth the money or effort. I don't play in competitive enough games to justify that level of fine tuning. That being said...if you do manage to come up with those parts...let me know!
No way! Why hasn't anyone told me this before! Oh wait...at least 20 people have. So many people have in fact that I put a not in the description say that it is a LEGO wheel in the hope that people would quit pointing it out... PLEASE read the description before commenting. It saves us both a lot of time. ;)
I found a jammed slingfire at Goodwill too! It was terrible. They had clearly attempted to force the mag out by prying at it with a screwdriver. The mag was pretty much ruined but I got the blaster functioning again.
After I fixed the jam it still felt sticky so I figured the mechanism must have just been really picky and that's what led to the jam. Oh well, I didn't get it for its modding potential I just like it.
The Slingfire can take the very beefy spring from Andrea's Rifle from Buzzbee. Definitely gains performance but loses accuracy on not waffle tip darts. It's ctually the same spring as a stock Alpha Trooper except the Slingfire is two coils longer.
I haven't upgraded the spring my Sentinel, but of the guys I know that have, they reinforced the loop on the plunger tube that the lever hooks to. Those who haven't have reported it failing, including when using a K26, if I remember correctly.
I'm both surprised and not surprised that the rapid fire tek (and yes that's what it's called, I had one) couldn't take a k26. I had taken mine apart and knew the spring was pretty beefy. But the reason I had taken mine apart was because the plunger rod had snapped and caused the lever to get stuck.
another great video! wanted to give a heads up about those buzz bee magazines, they are great, but they are not 100% compatible with all blasters, at least stock. the stampede has a funky magazine lock that can refuse to release the buzz bee magazine. I had to butterfly my blaster to diagnose and fix it. not sure if any other blasters have that issue, most seem to be fine.. PS, just checked and it's the lock closest to the trigger, the thin shim above the magazine release gets caught
@11:10, don't bother metal casting it - get some valves w/stems for a V8 or something else that'll fit (with as many engine manufacturers as there are, you can find one that fits) and hook an adapter to the priming mechanism (plastic socket epoxied to the stem, etc). You can seal the gap with gasket, and have a metal plunger. The reason you can get away with a valve stem is that you're not going to explode anything in the blaster, and you don't want to try a full-on piston because you don't want to deal with the excess inertia from the unneeded mass.
something you can do if you have a long shot front gun you dont care about you can take it apart and the barrel inside the front gun fits perfectly in the barrel of the sling fire
The buzzbee air warriors rapid fire Tek (second blaster) is fun. My friend has one, but lost the magazine. If I wanted to upgrade it, but not use a spring quite as powerful as a k26, what would you recommend?
On the Slingfire, you can run a Magnus sprin for a sizeable increase in power. It'll bring the Slingfire up to Elite stanards, but that's as far as I've ever taken it.
I have a mod for the Sentinel. Add a switch that allows you to make it slamfire. A sting for the bolt to the catch with some slack and a tensioner on a switch.
The slingfire is one of the most common Nerf guns that can get jammed my cousin got one for Christmas next day it was jammed but that is very easy to unjam it if you just forcefully push forward the the reload thing and then pull it back that's the easiest way to fix it
You should 3D print a new stock for your Slingfire since the stock and already one piece you can make it look like a sawed-off shotgun make it have a stock point so you can put a different stock on it
I know this video is old but can you answer a question for me I own a barrel break and one of the barrels does not fire more then 2 feet do you know what is wrong and I have a video on my channel demoing it
