Absolutely! It’s not a witch hunt, it’s a call out. Just pointing out an issue. ❤ you have a lot of integrity and you’re cool and your look is hot and lets gooooo!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Not really he's only looking at a part of the problem. He is still wasting a bunch of chemicals because he doesn't need all of that make up is just a bunch of chemicals that will just end up in the trash
@@libelinhaa2079of course. if he’s talking about pr packagings then it’s only about pr packaging. u cant expect someone to address every single issue in one video. if he addressed it, what are you onto next? animal testing? people like you are never happy and that’s your problem lmao
@@4dkamilianurnadiah844 but it is about pr packaging, he could simply deny getting them because he is just wasting a bunch of products if he's getting all this crap that he doesn't need and won't even use because they have expiration dates and would be impossible to use all of it in that time frame. These people are a bunch of hypocrites that only pretend to care about this issue for engagement.
I'm glad someone said it. It's because a lot of influencers say how much they love the packaging so brands feel they must outdo each other with over the top packaging and it is so unnecessary.
I feel like they say those things as part of wanting to get more PR and potentially sponsorships. They only compliment and say positive things, a form of toxic positivity.
“Cardboard takes more energy to make”!!!! Thank you for considering the energy that’s put into making something as part of its impact instead of just how it breaks down!!!
It's cardboard. What is the problem exactly? Cardboard biodegrade extremely easily. You're really making this into a bigger issue than it is. And the person who wrote "THISSSS", this what? Democrats. Always gotta feel like you're saving the world and talking about an issue.
@@emdeejay7432cardboard takes more energy to produce than plastic, so even though its easier to recycle most of the time, its still costing a lot production wise. also, if cardboard isnt properly recycled, when it ends up just going into a landfill, it produces methane gas, not great for global warming. also just, there's no reason to produce so much for something so small. why are you, on purpose, increasing cost of production when you can cut out a good chunck of that?
@@potatorobot cardboard isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We're too reliant on it. So it's pointless to make a video whining about pr packages. Also, if he doesn't like it, he should stop making videos with all the stuff he gets. Or tell them to stop sending it. But we all know that's not gonna happen. Wants to have his cake and eat it too.
@@emdeejay7432 im not commenting on the creator at all cause i dont him so. leaving that. we do need cardboard. in the society we've created we've made it a necessity to many peoples day to day lives. but there is No Point in producing boxes that are so large that they could hold five, ten times the amount of product you're putting in them. its production waste, energy waste, eventually just waste. youre using more in resources and causing more damaging effects to the environment than you even need for your product, there's literally no reason. thats my whole point.
as a sephora employee they do this with updates as well. you would not believe the amount of plastic and cardboard waste from a new product coming out and needing to be added to the display. deeply wasteful
@@TarynRMartin They're both an issue. Cardboard is easy to break down while incredibly wasteful to make in terms of energy. Plastic is the opposite, super cheap to make and takes forever to break down. For that we think cardboard is better because it seems more natural, but when companies are excessively using it it's really bad. Something that drives me nuts is pill companies making this big box for medicine, and then you open it and there's these weird shelves and barriers in the box while the bottle only takes up a fourth of the box. Like you don't have to try and make me feel like I'm getting 4x as much cough syrup on the outside of the box, I just want my medicine. Makeup products also do this, with little shelves inside the boxes to make the packaging look bigger than the product. All of that along with the EGREGIOUSLY EXCESSIVE cardboard this guy showed, is bad and can be stopped if called out. Like that huge 4 layer box was totally unnecessary, it's not like he bought it knowing what the box looked like and assumed there would be more product. They just sent him that to be fancy and over the top when all it is is wasteful.
@@TarynRMartin unfortunately, it has been shown that most 'recycled' things don't end up actually being recycled and just get sold off to another country where it clogs up their land and waterways
@@ΨευδάνωρI wish my grandma had this level of fashion. All she does is wear a t shirt and shorts. No hate to her, just saying that grandma-chic needs to make a comeback
thank you for being transparent and speaking about this the way so many viewers do!! these big companies think of aesthetics over the planet and practicality and it's so unnecessary.
I’m so glad you addressed this A LOT of companies do this even in tech. It frustrates me so much to open boxes and there’s almost nothing inside. Amazon is notorious for it too. I have gotten a shoebox-sized box before with only a lip gloss in it. Thank you for holding these companies responsible.
If it’s like that from Amazon it’s likely the packers fault or the fulfillment center it came from ran out of smaller boxes/polybags. At the center the computer tells you what size box to pack, taking in account the size of the item(s). But you can use any of them if you please or accidentally open the wrong size box and not want to have to do another one bc it could affect your overall rate. It also happens a lot if there’s new packers. So one of those few instances can explain that😂
Totally agree with what you mean, but with Amazon I have noticed that the bigger the city you live in, the more likely it is to come in appropriate sized packaging. I think it's a matter of warehousing, inventory, and staff.
agree w these, as a former amazon packer they tell you what size boxes to use and some of the suggestions are outrageous truly. wayyyyy too big for some and way too small for others
My boyfriend currently works in shipping and it's the current rule that you can't downsize a package. So if the system says "put the lip gloss in the 4x5x7 box" they have too.
yeah, the huge boxes also mean less space in the shipping truck/plane/whatever, which means more trips need to be made for stuff that could've been transported in one trip, and that generates more emissions. the cardboard really isn't the worst part.
Tbh I'm sure a lot of them love it. It makes them feel special and like they have something exclusive and something is normies could never get. It validates them in some weird way. It also makes them more likely to be kind to the product when they review it if they feel like they are part of the elite to the brand. It also provides them with more content which just makes them more money.
i’ve heard some say it’s kinda raggedy and i’ve also heard some say they like the ones that aren’t impractical. like one of the welsh twins said one of his PR boxes was a really cute/effective storage box.
Yeah. Thats by design. They want to feel glamorous, like royalty above the poor unfortunate peasants. They *like* the consumerism. It puts stars in their eyes like they're a guest appearance on Steven Universe.
Yeah. Why did they need a box the size of a real watermelon for a item the size of a LIME 🤦 brands that do that will NEVER get a penny of my money. We NEEDDDD more 100% ECO FREINDLY KEY WORDDDD brands. your NOT eco friendly if your packaging items smaller then a lime in boxes that could fit newborns in the WITH EXTRA SPACE FOR THEM TO MOVE AROUND. IDC ur not vegan or eco friendly until you actually show u care Abt the earth you can't call urself eco friendly and then go mass produce packaging so unessasary and UGLY everyone just throws it away and it goes to ROT In landfills getting buried so deep into trash or CANT decompose because no oxygen is getting to it for it to.
I actually really like collecting the tiny little boxes my stuff comes in, I paint on them sometimes. They’re adorable, they’re also good for holding trinkets like thumbtacks and stuff, but the huge boxes take up way to much space
Same! I once had this Tshirt that I loved but it was starting to fall apart, I cut it up and glued it onto a box that now holds all my chargers, headphones and general wires :)
YES pls speak up about the waste of PR boxes!!!! They are so massive and elaborate just to be thrown away its ridiculous. The irony is that most of these brands are also trying to greenwash at the same time
The algo just recommend your short, LOVE your makeup, your look is BEAUTIFUL! Your voice is also lovely. On topic, gigantic PR boxes are wasteful and distasteful.
@@xaviersmith5154 it is a waste of materials. like the materials of THAT packaging ALONE can be used for other items. the excessive sizes for something small are really unnecessary
It must take a lot of courage to make a statement like this knowing you are risking your spot on PR packages! Bravo. Love your content and how much integrity you consistently show.
Thank you. We need more influencers to talk about this. Influencers could make a massive influence if they spoke out against this. Because then brands would feel compelled to conform and they would almost feel embarrassed or feel nervous about backlash if they kept sending out these massive boxes.
THANK YOU! I cannot stand the fancy packaging these companies produce. They're so unnecessary, regardless of how it impacts the planet. They don't need to be so oversized and flashy, it's environmentally tone deaf. Simple packaging is smart.
Agreed!! Like you can do cute but way smaller packages that don’t create this much waste! 1) you still have a pr package that is on brand and theme 2) ppl more likely will keep those boxes for storage 3) it’s more accurate to the amount and size of the actual products you get! 4) they save on material cost 5) most important: less waste! And even with products to send, there should be more effort in sending products those ppl on the pr list actually want! No one has anything from ppl getting so many packages of make up that is not being used!
They should focus less on the outer packaging and more on the actual design of the product. There are some absolutely stunning palettes, lipstick cases etc that just call out to be put on display. That make you happy just to look at them. Pretty, disposable cardboard packaging just calls to my inner hoarder gremlin and that's not the brand image you want to put out into the world.
Absolutely agree, excessive packaging is so unnecessary! You can still make a cute PR box without it needing to be so huge. Also, unrelated, but absolutely love your outfit! 💛🌻
THANK YOU for talking about how much more energy it takes to make cardboard! We need to be having that conversation more, it needs to be more common knowledge! Keep putting pressure on huge pr packaging, you earned a huge thanks from me!!
I really appreciate you for this. Literally, overpackaging has got to stop. There are other PR methods that don't involve creating a mountain of unnecessary waste.
i wanna be impressed by how compactly everything was packaged and how the design was cute AND sustainable. that's far more impressive than big packaging.
THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY!! Few MUA’s do and we need to drastically reshape the packaging mindset for makeup companies (and ALL companies tbh)
This is such a great point. We do not need to keep generating so much trash! Minimal packaging, please. I've switched to a lot of products that have minimal and recyclable, plastic-free packaging. Also, this is my first introduction to you and your content. Your makeup here is so unique! I love the way it makes your eyes pop behind the glasses, but without being garish. And your hair and outfit with it?? Wow!
I was looking at a plastic milk carton the other day having an internal crisis over imaging how many milk jugs are just sitting in landfills or floating in the ocean all around the earth
They really should take the time to reach out to someone and match products to them. It's less waste, and it's a personal touch that could build actual relationships with the people they want to promote them.
I also like resusable boxes that can be used for storage and stuff. Like that one strawberry brand that sells these huge bundle boxes that you use to store the makeup.
@xaviersmith5154 To cater to the consumers that want more sustainable packaging? To lower their impact on the environment? To lower the cost of packaging and shipping? Frederic isn't mandating anything he has no control he's just bringing up a constructive critique
First of all, you are 100% correct. Not crazy. Save the planet. Secondly, LIT look. the matching scarf and geometric eye with the granny glasses lasso is so smart and fascinating to the eye. Good art, Frederic.
Agreed!!! And thankyou soooooo much for utilizing your awesome voice, style, and being to "unbox" this unnecessary type of big big big box packaging industry
yes!! i totally agree, i used to get PR pre pandemic and i was always like “why send this giant box?” or when brand send the entire complexion line, that’s such a waste when you can probably only use 2 shades. (summer and winter shades)
Thank you for talking about this! Thinking about all the waste and carbon footprint this causes stresses me out so much! Yet the influencers continue on and on; the brands don’t care. I can’t watch these videos anymore as it’s so stressing
fr! Two brands here in Brasil made usable things for their PR. Karen Bachini Beauty sent her products in a cute shoulder bag, and Boca Rosa made a big handbag in collab with Brazilian designer, Alexandre Pavão. If a brand wants to stand out with PR packages, they should have this kind of consideration. Xx from Brasil ✨
So agree. Also some of these “shock and awe” boxes are virtually impossible to break down without power tools. So I always feel like the asshole recycling an un-broken down box. Brands really need to chill with this. As a creator it doesn’t impress me. It’s just annoying.
Yes yes yes!!! Finally, a beauty RU-vidr who cares about the environment. Thank you for speaking up for mother earth 🌎❤🥰 all big brands need to care about their carbon footprint and sustainability right now. Thank you for this video and I hope they get your message and take it seriously.
As someone who used to work at PR I always thought expensive flashy packaging was unnecessary waste just so people could brag about getting it. Totally agree with you
Ooof yes. A lot of beauty products somehow LOVE big ass packaging and they create so much waste. I especially despise those with unnecessary huge box yet tiny teeny items inside. There's this particular brand of perfume that I'm interested in but they come in huge ass box, I still haven't made up my mind to try it because of that
I’ve always felt the same way since the trend started. They can make smaller boxes that are just as pretty and useful as the bigger boxes. They just choose to waste resources that will ultimately just get thrown away and it’s really sad. Some of those boxes can make 4-5 smaller packages easily.
i feel like there is definitely a less wasteful way to do extravagant packaging!! i definitely understand why brands might want to do large displays for their products and its beautifully designed but they should definitely focus on reducing waste they gift to people.
The packaging is very cute , and in context of individually getting one is appealing but when you get so much PR and the packaging is massive and wasteful due to getting massive amounts of brands sending products in packaging such as what you had shown
Yes! Talk about overkill! Sometimes less is definitely best. Beautiful, minimal packaging can speak volumes. If you must do oversized packaging, make it versatile / recyclable. Put some shelves in it that can hold future products. Include some hardware for the option to hang it on the wall. How about some lighting, or a spot for us to include our own? Beautiful, eye-catching packaging, that's functional as a showcase. A win-win for everyone all around.
Can we talk about your sweater! I always see you wearing the cutest clothes. Super appreciate you mentioning pros and cons of sending items in cardboard boxes. I appreciate when vendors have the option to use compostable shipping boxes.
I completely agree, it's as if they they think only big packaging can be "aesthetic" and cute when in reality small packaging can look great too! I also absolutely hate seeing brands send foundations to influencers and giving them like 50 shades. Whist a lot of influencers put extra products to good use, I'm still sure that so many foundations get wasted and it's honestly upsetting to see.
I 100% AGREE! overpacking is something that needs to be stopped and talked about more. You definitkey have my respect. Also, love the outfit and makeup!❤
