Mattel needs to sell again the classics figure line in stores. Just make new arms and legs with double joints to attach to the classics torso and reuse the weapons, armors, heads accessories to save on production cost.

I 100% agree. I bought A He-Man and Skeletor in the last year and a half. They are short and stout 4-5 inch figures made to look like the 80's figs but, with some modern articulation that are cheap. Wish I could get that motu classic for a reasonable price. I only started collecting again the past couple of years. I learned about the current when the netflix show came out. And a few months ago about the 40th ann. He-Man will be coming out. I wanted to get as soon as it was available. Just now, from this video, I realized it's a 7" line. I've been wanting 6" more natural proportioned He-Man for a while now. Iaslo just learned, from this video, that exactly what I wanted came out more than a decade ago. But, is not affordable.

@@Psychof1st The "purpose" is that it's EXPENSIVE to store a hunk of steel the size of a sedan for an extended period of time, especially if there's no guarantee you'll ever use it again. Origins and Masterverse are kind of like Classics split into two lines to take more of your money. They're both cool but really I cant see them beating Classics. I will say the distribution and availability of the new lines are definitely a step up and just the simple fact that Classics is way too expensive on the secondary market to try to get into now.

I think Masterverse has incredible potential. We're only four waves in and Mattel has made improvements in the hip joints and started to move away from Revelations (which apparently is stopping some people from picking these up). They're going with a beefier torso for 40th anniversary He-Man and actually use wired capes on regular retail figures. The New Eternia figs give you multiple display options right out of the box and we're getting a 9 inch tall Beast Man! I hope to see much more Masterverse, especially New Eternia, in the future.

Masterverse is the line for me. Classics were great and amazing that the community got behind it and made it what it was but the figures themselves are all the same Buck with it being a gross buck imo lol the ab crunch is bad the shoulder to bicep is gross and there were so many problems from weak ankles and others and I haven't found a problem with Masterverse yet. Articulation is key for me and Classics were trash imo when it came to that. Masterverse is offering soft goods and extra hands so everyone isn't giving a thumbs up... Masterverse is also hitting all areas of MOTU just like Classics. Packaging is great but we have Origins for that Classics look so I don't mind as well as Masterverse you can put back in the packaging and when you open a Classics figure the box is trash afterwards. @@Clay3613 - That is a pretty dumb take. Classics were $20-$25 for most of the run. Towards the end of the line, Mattle's ebay store had Classics for less $20-$10 each. Point Dread and Battle Ram sets were only $45 at one point. And as far as them "not being toys", that is probably the dumbest part of your comment. Started collecting MOTUC from day one, so I have A LOT....and so far, I'm definitely loving the new stuff more, like New Eternia. They're just by far superior action figures. Classics were excellent at a time, but they're obviously very dated now. No ball jointed upper torsos, the ugly single jointed knees and elbows, no ankle rockers on most, no interchangeable hands, huge pins, proportions not matching the source material as much as New Eternia, etc. So even though I recognize what Mattel is doing now is objectively better in every way...I still overall prefer the Classics (and even Filmation) stuff more. Maybe one day it'll be different...but like others have said, I doubt this new line will _remotely_ come close to what Mattel achieved back then.

MOTUC has the advantage so far because of longevity of the line and that the designs were pretty much the vintage line in 1/12 scale with added articulation and "proper" proportions. Masterverse is using the body bucks off of the Netflix Revelation series, so no matter what variation they do (aside from the CGI kids show figures) the proportions will be a bit weird. That being said the female bucks starting with the Vintage inspired Teela and upcoming Catra and She-Ra look way better than MOTUC. A better comparison will be the 40th anniversary He-Man that will release later this year because that does have some updated sculpting in the torso and the face is almost spot on to the vintage figure, so I would suggest you revisit this comparison when that figure comes out. .

The best he-man and the masters of the universe figures are the 1980's vintage he-man figures. The remakes from origins, revelations ect. are great but the best will always be the 1980's Vintage he-man figures. I have about 32 vintage he-man figures so far. I also have some origins and revelation figures as well.

For starters Masterverse will never last as long as Classics did to be as all inclusive with characters from all eras. I'd be surprised if Masterverse is still around in a year or so. Personally I'm not as keen on the design of Masterverse as much either. Proportions look a little off.

It looks like Target has been trying to get rid of the Masterverse line. They had Teela wave 4 for $10. I've picked up He-Man, Skeletor for $13, Faker for $18, Trapjaw for $20. It doesn't look like they're going to do anything with the wave 5 toys. You can nab them off of Amazon, BBTS, and EE for preorders at full price but I haven't seen any listings for the retail stores. I'm not sure what's going on but something is up. I'm also not a fan of how they're sneaking in a few accessories just to charge more for Hordak and She-Ra. It feels underhanded. They're doing the same thing with Dr. Mindbender. With inflation, things are bad as it is, I don't really want them squeezing an extra five or ten from me.

That upcoming deluxe Beast Man is poised to redefine what a top tier MOTU figure is going to be. He looks absolutely amazing, easily beating MOTUC Beast-Man. Right out of the gate though, you didn't knock the MOTUC He-Man for the reversed shoulders, and that's the Vizine version so that had the reversed shoulders. A ton of people got crap ankles on King Grayskull, which is why both of those figures eventually got re-releases to fix the problems, and to this day, I have the Green Goddess' limbs in a bin waiting for me to fix her exploded crotch. My point being, shiny plastic or no, Masterverse has already proven itself better in the QC department, MOTUC struggled with weak ankles throughout the line, and the male figures didn't even get real side to side motion, they wobbled a bit breeches they weren't well constructed. The loin cloths were frequently too hard to show for forward leg poses, the hair on the girls was often too hard to enable head posing... which I'm not saying Masterverse has perfected, but so far, i think they're beating MOTUC in those considerations. There were absolutely things MOTUC did better, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as your summary suggested.

I think some motu classic collectors don't like masterverse because they don't want to admit that after spending all their time money and energy on classics....there's a chance that a new line can come and be better. Masterverse versions of some figures are already better than classics...such as this skeletor....and it seems like they are getting better and better with every wave. Classics will always be an incredible line..but that doesn't mean masterverse won't give it a run. The fact that a retail line is competing with a premium collector line is proof enough that masterverse could be a potential threat

In a word, yes. Each Series gets better. The articulation is better. The paint apps would be the area it may not be AS good as, but they can hold their own. MOTUC are great for moc and vanilla posing. I had them all and loved each one, but the articulation even then was badly outdated. Masterverse has better articulation and things we sorely needed like more accessories, more alt heads and more alt hands.

Classics was a good line, but like DC Universe Classics hasn't aged well compared to modern lines. Other lines went to improvements like double jointed limbs, forward facing ankle pivot, and continue to evolve with new innovations. Things like painless joints. I don't really think they should be compared. To me it's like comparing the 2003 Ninja Turtles line to the 2012 Ninja Turtles line. But I get where people are coming from. In my mind the "gummyness" of the articulation has been a problem for me and some of the figures get stuck in poses where they legs stick out or bow. Masters of the Universe Classics was fantastic. The impact is secure; it essentially set the stage for MOTU's arrival as a Legacy IP even though it wasn't retail based. And did so with quality figures. ... However it's not untouchable as far as making better figures - and I'd think anyone that is looking for anything further would welcome it being "outdone" in that regard. Masterverse ain't gonna be the line to do it though ( according to my taste anyway) with that current buck. It is cool to see some stronger figures coming out though; specifically on the New Eternia end. But picture New Eternia with the proportions of Vintage, the sculpt & detail of Classics, design elements from 200X, & the swapability of Origins/Masters of the WWE.
