@@astridolearczyk8510 The song was recorded in '69. The movie would've been in filming/production that year. Not to mention, the song's overall tone and atmosphere is like UFO club 1966/1967 Syd barrett floyd/soft machine.
@@machummonrum6483 - Unfortunately there were plenty of poor gigs. They could often be on auto-pilot. Karoli would turn up late consistantly. It's very difficult to make any judgement on the live shows, even when they exist in recordings. They over blasted the audiences. It was a real treat when they played softly. Holger was often the one to set a mood. Karoli was the composer of the stepwise theme in MOZZER SKY. He was probably the weakest member of the central 4. Malcolm & Damo were important 5th members.
Can is great. These guys take you on a journey. Jaki's drumming gives me tingles down my spine. R.I.P Jaki Liebezeit. While you are not on Earth with us anymore, your drumming is still as constant and living today. Stay healthy Damo!
Irmin alive still and he was the oldest too. i patted him on the back and said "good show" to him when he walked past me in the street after I saw the 'Can Project' in London a couple years back. Jaki unexpectedly died couple months b4 the concert he meant to be drumming at which sucked, and Holger too ill to attend I heard, which indeed he must've been then. Anyway, there's a mini documentary about the concert on RU-vid, here if anyone not seen. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-su0v4IW4trU.html
This was done in separate takes. The transition to each solo is edited literally via cut and paste but done so seamlessly that you'd think that they hired session musicians for one long recording.
My personal favorite song from Can. It's pretty sad though that a million people have watched this cut version and the full, 14 minute version of Mother Sky is sitting there with around 9,000 views. Doesn't that take some of the song's magic away?
Hi Iwan I am Pjotr Alex where are you living I think you came from Russia 🇷🇺 or am I wrong Me I'm born in 🇦🇹 Vienna and since 1982 I am in 🇩🇪 I'm 66 years old and not wise 😅hope you like Can like I do ❤
When I first listened this track back in 1970 I changed my view to music... this track brought me to Can´s music... since then I bought almoust all of their records !!
Its 1972. A freezing icy morning. I throw myself on my bed after three hours early morning milk round. Im 14. The needle drops on this track. Side two. And I'm lost.
DID YOU KNOW?..... Can were pretty much Mark E Smith's favourite band ( along with Captain Beefheart) Just thought I'd mention it! My Dad brought me up on Beefheart, Can etc and a Fall fan was born!!
An unforgettable and unusual music scene in Germany in the sixties and seventies. They are less well known than Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream although they are pioneers of Krautrock. All in all, they were 50 years ahead of their time. Too bad it was cut to 10 minutes.......Eine unvergessliche und ungewöhnliche Musikszene in Deutschland in den sechziger und siebziger Jahren. Sie sind weniger bekannt als Kraftwerk und Tangerine Dream, obwohl sie Krautrock gründeten. Alles in allem waren sie ihrer Zeit 50 Jahre voraus. Schade, dass es auf 10 Minuten reduziert wurde
One of the most masterful pieces pieces of editing ever. What Holger Czukay could achieve with a scalpel and some sticky tape is barely believable. Karoli's guitar playing on this still gives me goosebumps after all this time.
MK always claimed he never played solos but most of his playing sounds like soloing to me. Not complaining about his playing of which I am a fan but I always found those anti-soloing comments to be kind of disingenuous.
@@andrewhartnett4013 Yeah cos Can was so absurdly popular when they were around. There is still plenty of good music. Anybody who implies there isnt is lazy and for some reason expects to have it spoon fed to them. You need to LOOK for good music. it doesnt fall in your lap. Its been this way forever.
It's so horribly sad when it ends before ending... Thank you, though, this is one of the only Can songs available in youtube, and one of their best. Mutilated, but still conquering hearts and ears. That's how awesome Can is.
Thank you and dont worry about the "amputation". I am so grateful for this. I have never heard this before and it is just perfect. Just what i need right now and I will adore it always. Wow.
@@francis4291 - there's much more to the variable quality of Mozzer Sky & other CAN trax. The early CAN trax were all analogue as far as I know. Holger at the controls .... Dip into the other YT versions of Mozzer Sky. They differ in ways other than splicing.... Turntable speeds etc... The pitch too...
@@rogerantonybennett5272 Oh yes ? I owned the album in its first version, the one with the great cover that showed film clippings. Later, in the 80s, I bought the first CD pressing. I never should have parted with vinyl, but that's the way it is. The first CD was not remastered, but the timing of Mother Sky, I believe, was identical to the album (dubbing from the original master or tape). To be checked. Afterwards, I remember that I noticed a sound difference between the Landed album and the CD. Thank you for your remarks. 🌌 (from Babaluma 🙂)
I love this Band, Saw them on British and German TV in the early days,I believe British and American Record Company's and Producers were a bit Snooty toward German and other European Progressive Bands in the early 70s, I have all their records and play them regularly,.
"... ege bamyasi can (1972) can is probably the most widely known and often cited band identified with krautrock. groops like stereolab (at least their early catalog) and sonic youth are clearly followers of can’s signature motorik beats. the cover design of ege bamyasi is odd but charming. it features a giant can of okra. apparently, thurston moore purchased this album for 49-cents at woolworth’s simply because of the cover, not realizing just how much the music on the wax inside would change his life.
Lyrics: I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky. I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, Tell me for surprise if you're right, Tell me for surprise if you're right. I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, Tell me for surprise if you're right And tell me for surprise of your life, And tell me for surprise of your life. Life and mother sky And mother sky And mother sky And mother sky. I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, Tell me for surprise if you're right, I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky, I say mothers ain't too cool like mother sky. Talking to this end, Talking to this end, Talking to this end.
BUDUAM! I love to just being thrown right against the glass as to you catch your breath. The power that bristled and tore open so many holes in this old mans brain as a teenager to let in possibilities and fire have only ever been plugged again by time.
pauljones651 Thanks for the history. Can is incredible. So, I'm at work, this song starts, I can't leave my truck while it's playing. To put it mildly, this sounds like everything I have every liked, from any band. Cool, Hip, Groovy, Hipnotic. I my opinion, most (if not all) of those commercially successful bands from the '60s-'80s couldn't equal this. I would guess Hendricks picked up on Can.

most influence band today by Can are Radiohead...they like listened Can 24/7

best Can song, and that is saying something! Awesome groove and lyrics. I say madness is too pure like mother sky Tell me what's the price of your life
Andrew Hounsome I don’t know what makes you so certain it’s greater than Oh Yeah or Future Days or Bel Air or Halleluhwah or Yoo Doo Right or Father Cannot Yell but if you say so....
