i’m not muslim and i’ve been wearing hijab for a few months now. i’ve had people say mixed things to me, but i’ve realized i can wear what i want. I want to be modest so i’m gonna wear what i want and what makes me comfortable. i’ve never felt as beautiful and safe as i do wearing hijab. update: i took my shahada a few months back so i’m officially a muslim

if you don’t want to wear a ‘hijab’ then just wear a general headscarf.
@andromacha83

Why would you want to do that?
@harrietharlow9929
@harrietharlow9929 3 года назад
@@andromacha83 I am not sure who this was addressed to, but a woman might wish to wear a hijab or niqab because she just wishes to be modest. Or she may wear it because she wishes to revive the older custom of veiling amongst Christian women. Most Christian ladies veiled to one extent or another until at least the 1500s or 1600s and ladies often wore a hat to church or when going out until the 1960s. So headcovering in one form or another went on until very recently. Some Christians denominations still feature headcovering for ladies: The Amish and Mennonities wear a bonnet and Old Believer women still veil in church. They wear a large headscarf which looks very much like a hijab, and to this day, both traditional Orthodox and traditionalist Catholic ladies wear a hat or mantilla when attending Mass or stopping into church to pray. For myself, I've always tended to veil because I am fairly modest by nature and veiling is natural for me. Honestly, there are many reasons ladies might wish to be verl.

@@sadhairlineboiking4587 she answers in the beginning by saying a religion doesn't own modesty and stuff! :) As long as you're not wearing it to be rude or mock/make fun if someone or a religion, it's okay!
@Myladyinred999
@Myladyinred999 3 года назад
Well, there are basically two ways of wearing headscarfs: for practical reasons and for religious reasons. Hijab is the Muslim version of wearing a headscarf for religious reasons a.k.a. for god. But there are also plenty of practical reasons for wearing headscarfs: protection of hair, hairstyle and scalp from the weather, from the looks and jugdment of other people, to feel beautiful only for yourself and your dearest ones, to have your comfy safety blanket always on/with you and so on 😄I'm also an atheist since a few years now and I still don't understand people who think wearing a headscarf makes someone automatically "ugly". But that's also my personal reason why I don't consider wearing a face covering any more - to me (just as to many others) the eyes usually are the most beautiful part of a person. But the eyes remain uncovered with most face veils. And the different ones who try to also cover the eyes make everyday life hard to manage because they impair your vision quite dramatically unfortunately.

I'm also an atheist and I love the idea of hijabs and niqabs and even burkas! Like, sometimes I just want to be anonymous and private and not show my face or body much or at all. Other times I like to be more visible but it just really depends tbh. I wish more private and modest clothing was more normalized for anyone-- not just Muslims. I think it would help Muslims too because of reducing stigma

Narrated by Aisha The wives of the Prophet used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place to answer the call of nature at night. Umar used to say to the Prophet "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam'a the wife of the Prophet went out at Isha time and she was a tall lady. Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Hijab may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of Hijab.(Sahih Bukhari 146) This is the history of hijab. Don't wear the toilet wear fearing men.

I am Christian myself, so I’ve always shied away from these things for fear it’d be looked down upon as cultural appropriation and then my bad behavior would reflect on my religion from someone else’s perspective. The knowledge that it is actually a part of my OWN religion is a huge blessing, thank you so very much! I’m not sure why I didn’t connect the dots earlier but I feel so much more welcomed now. I love that you don’t discriminate and are able to talk respectfully about other religions and even teach about things like this that relate to their origins. I respect you a LOT for that, you are a fantastic influence! I have always been quite shy and anxious, I prefer to be very modest and cover up as much as possible. I’ve always loved how Hijabs and Niqabs are worn, the creativity in fabrics and colors and headbands, and what they represent especially. I haven’t been watching you or other creators like you for very long, but lemme tell you I’ve wanted to have my own face coverings since the moment I started! They seem so safe. I feel like I could have more confidence because it puts a layer between me and the rest of the world. As a Christian I believe Jesus resides inside my heart, I take Him with me wherever I may go. With face and head coverings, with that extra little buffer between me and the outside world, it’s far easier for me to stop and pray, to be close to Him even in public where I might get weird looks. It’s very comforting and affirming, and I’m so glad you made this video and made me feel so comfortable with the idea of wearing one ❤️ ❤️

Whom did Yaqub ("Jacob") ‎عليه السلام worship? Whom did Musa ("Moses") ‎عليه السلام worship? All these Messengers of ALLAH were on Earth before Isa ("Jesus") ‎عليه السلام . They all worshipped ONLY ALLAH. Muhammed صلى الله عليه وسلم is The Final Messenger of ALLAH . The Qur'aan is the Final Book sent by ALLAH. DO READ THE QUR'AN. We should not be arrogant. Wiccans/Pagans often wear a lot of head coverings/veils for religious purposes (They're not necessarily used for modesty, though, from what I know). I don't do it all the time because I'm nonbinary and I mostly wear it on feminine days so that I don't feel dysphoric, but it can be like a safe space for those who try it :)

The hijab is actuqlly referred to in the Qur'an as a khimar, and hijab in the Qur'an is usually referring to actual screens or veils (as in "the veil between this world and the next" type of context). I wore it about 1.5 years before ever considering Islam, and I was a pagan at the time (a Kemetic to be exact). Nearly every religion and culture throughout history had some form of head covering. In many cases such was for only the upper-class and there were even laws in some societies that dealt with punishing a lower-class or slave woman for wearing it. And something is only appropriation if you are doing it in mockery of those who wear it for a reason. Wearing it because you think it is fashionable or you are curious about it- no appropriation Wearing it and going to your friends making terrorist jokes in mockery- appropriation. Intention is key.

Thank you so much for tackling this issue 💕 Just wanted to add - I don't think there are any real reasons why men shouldn't wear a headscarf - a lot of guys in the Middle East wear headscarfs. They often call them turbans and also use a lot of other terms but it's only a piece of cloth wrapped in some way around the head - so it's a headscarf, I'd say, linguistically speaking. Also if men protect themselves from sand in the dessert by covering their face, it's still a face covering. Sure, it's different from wearing hijab or niqab, since both are a religious practice. But men also do and can wear head and face coverings, also for cultural reasons, not just practical ones. I just wanted to add this for people who might not know as much about the topic.

I use to wear a scarf around my neck in winter and I'm always waiting for the very cold/rainy weather in which I can pull up the scarf and cover my head without people around me thinking I lost my marbles. I'm so done of this culture in which females are constantly encouraged to show their body in order to "be attractive". I don't want to be fed this virtually all the time. It's everywhere and I'm so done. I used to wear baggy clothes and people would say I look bad, I look not curvy, I look too thin. Guess what I am thin, and I want to be comfortable. Ugh 😢
@boop99
@boop99 Год назад
Your comment really spoke to me. I am a skinny person too, and I used to be very insecure about my body because I thought I was too thin. I am an adult now and I don't think that way anymore. What helped me was to understand that as long as you are healthy and comfortable, that's all that really matters. Beauty standards all around the world are nearly impossible to meet perfectly, so just make sure that you are eating well and exercising (even if that means walking or biking somewhere instead of driving). Finally, wear whatever you are comfortable with. I used to only wear shirts that would cover my butt (I thought it was too flat) and cover my arms. Over time, you can try what I did and slowly go outside your comfort zone. You could try to wear a cropped shirt or a short sleeved shirt with the pants you'd normally wear, but wear a cardigan over it. I hope this helps!

I don't like how other people can see right through me when I have my face completely covered. I've also started finding it intimate for me to remove my mask when I eat and when I'm around friends because its a demonstration that I'm comfortable around them and I'm okay with them knowing my emotions. I get so tired of strangers asking me "are you okay?" and always forcing out "I'm fine". I started wearing the headscarf because my grandma died of skin cancer from sun exposure through her hair. I have taken a lot from hijabi fashion to keep myself safe during the sunny months. And yes, the headscarf does make me feel safe. I have anxiety and having that layer is really nice. For looking frumpy in the hijab, try to find styles that work with your face shape. I cannot wear Turkish hijabs because my face is square and I look ridiculous. I honestly wear tichel-styled headscarves the most (turbans) but of the hijab styles I do better with styles that drape and aren't tight. In highschool before I started veiling, I tried to do hijab day with some other students. It made the news and we had death threats coming from states over. My school had to cancel it.

Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatuhu Alhamdulillah it is okay because the Gospel book says so. 1 Corinthians 11:1-12 Head Coverings 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. 3 But I want you to know that bthe head of every man is Christ, cthe head of woman is man, and dthe head of Christ is God. 4 Every man praying or eprophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were fshaved. 6 For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is gshameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since hhe is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man is not from woman, but woman ifrom man. 9 Nor was man created for the woman, but woman jfor the man. 10 For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless, kneither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. 12 For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.

People tend to look or stare at me often so whenever I had a mask on, I just felt so much better about myself and I actually thought I was more beautiful with it. Since masks aren't mandatory anymore, I basically get watched whether or not I have a mask or no mask, which makes me so uncomfortable, but I still felt safer covering my face. Niqabs are so beautiful and I wouldn't feel judged this way. I want a boy to not base my looks on whether or not he wants to date me, only my personality and character. I've had guys look at my face and leave immediately! Like am I just not pretty enough for you? But whenever I was able to hide my face with a mask, people would have to get to know me as a person and love that part of me instead! That's how I was able to get my first boyfriend. He loved me for my personality and when he finally got to see my face, it never bothered him. I hate going in public now without some kind of covering and I feel like a niqab would be my way of feeling so so safe. I wouldn't wear it to 'attract boys to love my personality instead' but just to feel safe from all people to not see my face or body.

I was nervous about cultural appropriation too but Catholic nuns cover their hair, Jewish denominations and even baptist women wear large hats and long skirts with tights. It’s modesty in every religion if you look deeper. I want to start wearing hijabs and dressing more modestly.

I'm pagan and my patroness, Hestia, calls for some of her devotees to cover. For some its modesty and for others it's to remind themselves of their devotion and spirituality. For me it is both. I wear mostly the hijab and sometimes the tegidion ( looks like the niqab).

As a man I wanted to try it out to experience the world through it and also as a "social experiment" to see how people would treat me in my country where muslims are a minority. Why exactly did you say that men cannot wear it?

I kinda wanna wear a hijab sometimes but then other times I kinda wanna show off- (if I do wear a hijab I will cover up but when I’m not wearing it can I still wear revealing clothes?)

I'm an agnostic but I live in a city with a huge Muslim culture influence (Seville) and I've seen hijabis since I was a little girl. I always wanted to wear it because I think is beautiful, and I feel great in it but people around me always told me that it's not correct if I'm not Muslim and I felt very discouraged because I was really shy to ask a hijabi about it. Thanks to you and your channel my heart opened a lot more to it and I'm really thankful. You're a Queen!!! Thank you so much for all the information and respect 💕

I can’t believe how interested I am in Islam thanks to you and mubina. I have come to realize it is the only religion that I have researched so far that makes sense to me and find it amazing and very loving
