Do not use claps...It's a harsh sound which makes pigeons scared an fly more high . Make any sort of sound with your mouth ( maybe whistling ) Whenever you are giving them food. This will make them thing that certain sound is the call for food. And will come back home whenever they hear that sound if they are hungry.
