Why would you inappropriately quote a man of science, out of context, to try to undermine other scientist's recommendations to save lives during a pandemic? It's like you've got "I'm disgustingly ignorant." tattooed across your forehead now. Go read some Franklin biographies in penance, you deplorable charlatan.
I can assure you Benjamin Franklin believed in modern germ theory, and absolutely would have quarantined the plague at gun point. The founding fathers would have shot the idiots running around spreading something they knew about.

Kmarty2000 if they outlaw full time RV living they would have a serious homelessness issue on their hands real quick. RV life isn’t as glamorous as people might think. The quality first off will have you spending a great deal of time and money on repairs, so if you purchase. Purchase well. When something happens like a shower leaks and doesn’t produce hot water you are forced to become ingenuity minded quickly. Electrical issues become a hassle also. All repairs you’re responsible for, you own it. Have to pay to dump your tanks, or to have a service come empty them. Unless you’re willing to stay at parks; there they let you dump tanks most times for free. There is also a serious lack of space. No room for hobbies or guests. Party outside. Don’t get me wrong. Not everything about them are bad. There is a sense of freedom as long as you’re able to find a nice place to park it. Cooking can be a challenge. Small refrigerator and usually odd toilets. I still love it tho. Just be prepared for a wild existence.
I drive a trash truck for a living. I dont care what order they sign, or what rules they impose, they are going to want me out there doing my job. If not, even worse public health issues are on the way. 😎
Jeff Bristow you make a valid point! Thanks for doing the dirty work buddy. People probably don’t thank ya enough, so just figured I would. Thanks Jeff!
@@nunyabidnazz2311 You're welcome, although I'm not complaining at all. Trash pays very well as most of the people who are qualified to drive that large a truck consider the work beneath them, so it creates a very favorable labor market. 😊
Jeff Bristow lol great attitude buddy! I didn’t think you were complaining at all. 😊 the people who are grateful are the happiest! & that’s the vibe I got from ya, same as my husband & myself. Thankful to have an income and a new day!
In my crummy state of Kansas we're no longer allowed to even go to the park, even though it's outdoors and safer. Exercise is no longer allowed even in parks, out in the ultraviolet sunlight that kills virus and bacteria. This over-reaction fo COVID is getting really overbearing. Local, state and federal government agencies are pushing and pushing to see how far they can go before the people begin to push back. Our rights are already going out the door in droves right now.
I had an interesting talk with a police officer yesterday, I'd asked him if things were quiet. He told me they were busier than you'd think, mostly due to "domestic" calls.
Divorce is up ⬆️... Quarentened 😷 people are forced to spend ALL their time with the spouse🧟 No time off for good behavior /working 🤯 🤣 No better time than now to be single like Steve, and myself.
I think if a stopped person responded with `officer, I really needed a break from the arguing and chaos at home' any sane and realistic LEO would realize his excursion was a necessary one.
OMG If this happened while I was still marred to my ex wife. And a cop stopped me as I was driving around aimlessly, I would have to say to him. "It is like this officer, my wife was pushing all of my buttons, and I had to get away for a bit, until we both cooled down. Other wise you most likely would be having to respond to a domestic call. Now which one would you rather deal with officer?"
Due to medication messing with my taste buds I only drink water, unsweetened tea, black coffee and root beer. Mowing yesterday when a cop rolled by and eyeballed me while I had an IBC root beer in my hand. I looked right at him and took a swig. I am sure if we weren't where we are it would have had a different outcome. Steve, when can you be unarrested?
I have to continue to work the roads out there are like GTA on Grand Theft Auto people are doing 90 down rotors supposed to be 40 blowing through red lights it's insane
@@joesterling4299 because an IBC root beer is in a bottle that looks like a bottle of actual beer. Lots of areas have open container laws pertaining to alcohol. Once my wife and I were at a restaurant in Pennsylvania ( my wife was a police officer at the time, now retired) and she had ordered a bottle of IBC with dinner. We were leaving and she took her IBC with her as she was not finished with it. It was a nightclub and the security guard on the way out told my wife she could not leave with the bottle. She asked why and he said that it was not legal to leave with it. My wife said it is perfectly legal and started to walk out. He blocked her way. She demanded to see the manager, the manager shows up and the security guard tells him that she cannot leave with an alcoholic beverage. My wife then tells them it is root beer that they sell. They looked dumbfounded. As my wife said, if the security guard has asked what was in the bottle she would have told him. But he did not. The point here is never assume anything.
@@jerrymyrtle1944 Is it illegal where you live to drink a beer in your yard? I guess I'm missing your point. I know of nowhere that cops can stop you in your yard while mowing if you are drinking a beer, unless your clearly a child.
Rusty the point is "if you have no business being out and about and you have a little fender bender or worse you've just put first responders and possibly medical personnel at risk just so you could take a joy ride". Accidents happen. Think a minute.
In UK that's a no no. People have been doing that and police are doing stop check. People are going to the quiet spots but all the same people are going to the same quiet spots.
Those who are willing to give up a little essential liberty for the promise of a little politically promised security, deserve neither liberty nor security. Ben Franklin
Steve, thank you so much for this video. I tried having this conversation the other day with someone online who thinks it's perfectly acceptable for the police and government officials to overstep their authority. We, as Americans, need to ensure we retain our constitutional protections!
well, driving is a privilege so you need to get a horse, walk or ride a bicycle...so yes they have every right to stop you..AND confiscate your license
I saw a big fat chick coming out of Walgreens with one of those Mega Packs, after our governor passed laws against Hoarding. But I guess the fat chick needed it for her fat ass.
Yes. Here in Michigan, a friend was pulled over for nothing. Police asked him where he was going. He had a legitimate reason to be out. So, yes, they are fishing.

Problem is that even if you are acquitted, the cost of legal defense is not going to be cheap and cops/prosecutors know this. The judicial process itself becomes the punishment, regardless of your guilt or innocence. So when the police announce they are going to pull people over for driving during lockdowns, they know very well the charges will get tossed. They also know it will cost you several hundred to a few thousand dollars plus your time to get the case dismissed.
You don't need a lawyer , they need to prove you were doing something wrong , in the end at the end of the court battle you can throw down a receipt to prove yourself and walk away a free man
Shaun Hensley You don’t have to justify or explain. You’re absolutely correct. Without reasonable suspicion, period, they have no right or duty to stop you in the first place.
I frequently just go out driving in order to get out of the house. I love to drive, so most days I will take a good 1-2 hour drive. I don't stop anywhere and i never get out of the car. So i don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to drive around. After all i am by myself in my car just driving. So i don't really worry.
@Mrs Pleasants Yet nothing concerning our fundamental rights has changed. If an officer pulls someone over and their first question is "Where are you going?" or the like, my original post is the exact way one should respond as I see it.
I was sheltering in place a good couple of weeks before most other people were because I've got COPD. There's a distinct possibility I would die if I got it, especially if the hospital doesn't have a ventilator available at the moment I need it. But like most, it's getting to me. I want to take my 57 Dodge for a ride. That's my activity, I'm too crippled to go to the park and walk or run. I should be free to drive for the pleasure.
That's true, but that's not happening. At least not in the US. We are asked to shelter in place, not ordered to do it. We don't have to follow guidelines. What, police are going to stop every car on the road? The language in my state right now is if groups of people are gathered, the police will suggest that they go home. Otherwise, nobody is getting harassed. Now, I'm not saying that won't change and if it gets to the point of our rights really being taken away, that's when we step back and say stop! It's a fine line and we have to be vigilant as to the language being thrown at us in order to differentiate. I'd also suggest that people avoid MSM at all costs.
I argued this exact point today for over an hour. Made many of the exact same points you made, and people are like, "nope..the governor said so". My reply was "oh, as long as a politician said so it must be true". I drive for work. I'm not looking for an encounter, but I am ready for the argument.
In Oregon the weed shops are allowed to stay open, however, to promote social distancing they are serving customers "curbside", meaning they bring the product out to your car. It's kind of a Back to the Future moment....we had curbside weed sales for years before it was legal........
Cop: "Sir, where are you headed?" "Me: "I did not tell you?" Cop: No Sir you did not. "Me: Oh, maybe it's because it is none of your Goddamned business."
Cop: Sir, do you know why I pulled you over ??? Me: Yes, because I let you !!! Cop: Sir, do you know why I'm stopping you ??? Me: Yes, because I did better in school than you !!! Cop running radar stops me for speeding. He approaches my car and says "Well...well...I've been waiting all day for you !! I say, " I know...I got here as quick as I could !!
Cop: Where are you going? Me: Nowhere now. You have me stopped. Cop: Okay...Where _were_ you going? Me: Eastbound on the road... Cop: Are you aware the governor has imposed self quarantining, which requires everyone keep 6 ft away from eachother and remain indoors at all times. Me: Well, officer...I was alone until you walked up to my car and started breathing through my window. Cop: 😶😶😶😕 Have a good day sir. Me: bye 🖕
I wonder where the ACLU is on this. I used to think we had a set of rights like the freedom of assembly. This takes away your right to decide for yourself what would endanger yourself. Maybe this is for the good of society. But these orders are essentially laws written by the executive branch not Congress. We don't know really whether your neighbor is safe or not when you meet them. But this was always the case. Considerating the death rates from this and other diseases, this is far less deadly. I hope attorneys step up and defend what is left of the Constitution. It is too valuable to just ignore when it's inconvenient. Someone once said, person who trades liberty for safety deserves neither.
The Constitution has been trodden over as just an idealistic document. Government for the people and by the people is not carried out in careful decisions by the courts and enforcement, rather we live under interpreted law and laws based on other laws, like a stack of dominoes.
Been u just described the government's overreach into our personal liberties forcing one to wear a seatbelt, forcing one to contact with third parties ( "child support" and car insurance), kidnapping and extorting those who put things into their own bodies, selling your rights back to you like chl. This list goes on and on. Truth is America went bankrupt and sold out in the thirties (hence the "federal" reserve notes). It's one giant scam lmao and everyone's eating it up cuz they'll be long dead when the bill comes fully due instead of these incremental payments we've been making through our taxes. No...we need to be looking higher. Government has become god to so many that a strong sickness has been given way to infest the whole nation.
Reminds me of that Joke: A police officer tried to pull a man over for speeding. The man tried to outrun him and it turned into a high speed chase. When the Officer finally got him stopped, he asked him why he was running. The man replied "A few years ago, my wife ran off and left me for a Police Officer. I though you was him trying to give her back " 🤣
"Officer, with all due respect, i decline to answer any questions without legal council present" Nothing they can do. Besides, they aren't doing very many traffic stops anyway, for fear of catching the bug.

Yeah, I don't think the bill of rights has a carve out for quarantines. But then the Constitution is the absolute last thing any court looks at or cares about.
As a truck owner I had to Certify that I,. ( M.H.) was Qualified to operate a Commercial motor vehicle. I had to sign and carry the card saying just that. I'm looking at it right now . Its hanging on my wall as a Shrine to the Stupidity of government. Its dated 7-15-1999.
In Wisconsin we have the state order safer at home thing going on and my letter from work says that any one impending, delaying my travel to work is breaking federal law...lol
I seen a post from the Detroit Freepress where they had a story saying the the Mich state police will not be pulling people over for "breaking" the stay at home order. That they have enough to deal with (emergency calls). Besides look at it this way. If you were a cop do you want to chance getting "the beer flu" because someone was out driving around.
Quit being a lawyer and start being a constitutionalist. Nothing gives the politicians the ability to make unconstitutional demands including stay at home orders.
OFFICER: Where are you going? Me: I ONLY take order's!!! Nothing is FREE! now you gonna give me an order to service so i can bill you for payment or not? if not stop wasting my time! I find it strange all police in UK act as if they are immune to this, I am starting to wonder they aren't actually trained police but hired shills, seen a few videos lately where they don't even seem to know the laws. I feel like I am in some apocalyptic movie, bizarre.
Since I'm not infected with a virus I'm not under quarantine nor will I be subject to house arrest!!! Now if I were infected with a virus I'd self isolate.
If tell everyone to do that, let them take it home to their families. If your in a city and they roll the military out, everybody should just come out on their porch and start coughing. Let them take it home and pass it amongst their families for being the blind followers and idiots they are
Perfect timing. I'm heading to North Texas in a week or so for work and was extremely concerned about the order. I'm putting Mr. Sloan's number on speed dial.
When they start asking "where are you coming from," I just don't say anything. For all I know, some guy roughly fitting my description or driving a car the same color as mine may have committed a crime in the place I'm coming from. This is not just friendly banter, but rather an interrogation, a fishing expedition... Cops are not interested in being your friend and/or just shooting the shit on the side of the road. You have nothing to gain by "cooperating," but the most innocent responses could potentially arouse the officer's suspicion. It doesn't matter that you know you haven't done anything wrong. He doesn't know it... Once upon a time, I thought it was best to "fully cooperate," and would even consent to unwarranted searches with the idea that this would allow me to be on my way more quickly. I've learned that it doesn't necessarily work that way because some cops are just assholes who don't just investigate crimes, but also feel compelled to investigate people. I am no longer inclined to attempt to prove my innocence on the side of the road. I'm not answering questions or submitting to searches simply because I have nothing to hide. Do I mind if you search me and/or my vehicle? Of course I mind. Can you pat me down for your safety? No! You don't need to fondle my nuts to see that I'm not armed, and if you had reason to believe I was a danger to you, you wouldn't be asking for permission to search me. You would either draw your weapon or physically restrain me.
Greetings from South Texas. My good friend who is a law-abiding citizen and history scholar was arrested yesterday here. He is elderly and his wife was with him in the car since he recently had surgery and needed her at his side in case of an emergency. They were running an errand. I've been going to a hiking trail every day to get fresh air & sunlight since this ordeal started. It's good to know that I can continue going. Thank you for the information.
Here in Idaho, they have already announced they won't be stopping people for that because they believe that most people here will do the right thing. Here in Idaho, I think they're right.
Ohio v. Reiner, 532 U.S. 17 (2001) In Ohio v. Reiner, 532 U.S.17 (2001), the Supreme Court held that the fifth amendment protect the innocent as well as the guilty. Always remember, it is best not to answer any questions asked of you by the police, whether or not you have legitimate reasons to be driving.
So during this time of keeping six feet away from other folks, do you think police officers will “smell marijuana” coming from your car window when you roll it down?
My constitution tells me I have the right to travel unharassed amongst the many states, the right to association,..18 US code 242 says deprivation of rights under color of law is a federal crime.

Steve, I love your channel. I'm not a lawyer, but an industrial automation expert who uses logic and reason for a living. My first 3 thoughts on the "shelter in place" police stops were 1st, 4th and 5th amendment rights. I am free to peaceably assemble, I am free to be free in my person and belongings from unlawful search and seizure and I may not be required to give evidence that may convict me. My position is to be polite to the officer, and should they decide to arrest, not to resist in the least. Any resisting charges, although "fruit from the forbidden tree" to quote Law and Order, could stick even when the others do not. My thoughts take me back to learning about MLK Jr. and his peaceful marches. He instructed those near him not to resist the officers, a very bright man indeed.
My classic car collection needs exercise. I took out my 76 vette to a distant country store in the mountains of Cornish Maine, for bread and milk Right now in Maine they are pumping gas for you again. So nice i paid 2.50pg for super...woohoo
PA and Delaware also have those orders. I drove by myself down to Dover from south of Philly. Set my cruise control for the 65 mile trip down. Saw a state and a county trooper going south. They passed me and everyone else. Didn't stop anyone. Even vehicles with multiple people in them. Only the fearful hoard or hide at home.
And no cop has ever used "the force" to decide to stop somebody. Going back to my youth in the 60s in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey, I was pulled over for things like "having 4 people in a fullsized car".
So the answer is that they CAN pull you over, because they will come up with a reason to do it. The wife use to get pulled over all of the time coming home at night from her night shift as a nurse in Traverse City. It is a time when you would normally find people coming home from the bar. The excuse was ALWAYS, "I thought I saw you swerve". Most of the time they would give her a BS process ticket (could not find proof of insurance) to make it seems like the cop was always doing the right thing, only to get it thrown out in court. All of her fellow workers had the same problem. The cops will come up with a BS excuse to pull you over if they want to. They do it all of the time. So if they pull you over they will say "I thought I saw you swerve" , then ask where are you going?
@@Bob-Lob-Law I think it would fall under assualt with a dealdly weapon if they dont have a specific charge for it however they probably do have something.
In PA, my employee was pulled over on federal property in the park on his way to work. This happened twice and both times the ranger told him his work didn't qualify as exempt. Well it did in NJ and that's where he worked. A week later PA changed it's ruling on business and he was never pulled over again.
I am so confused with my state's 'shelter in place' order. We have that slip for critical work if we get pulled over, but we have an exemption for driving for pleasure
I’ve already heard instances of police officers pulling people over in certain parts of Los Angeles simply for the purpose of asking where someone is going. I’ll remind people that have police officer has had a legal and justifiable reason to stop you. They have no right Or legal position to stop you simply to ask if you’re going somewhere necessary.
Got pulled over in my scrubs on my way to Scottsdale Memorial, he was obviously pulling me over because of the "lockdown" but he said I was "swerving". Right, I was swerving to avoid all those other non-existent cars on the road at 10pm.
@PokerRun388 You are completely right. Misses the point though. If you are pulled over for the sake of this order alone, answering ( or not answering) the question is your right. If it doesn't bother you thats fine, it bothers some people (i am one of those people)
At a "sobriety checkpoint"... Cop: Where are you headed? Me: Point B. Cop: Where are you coming from? Me: Point A. Cop: OK drive carefully. That was a few years ago. Cop knew that I knew the rules about that kind of questioning.
