Age old argument that's been beat to death. I've ridden & owned everything from a 125cc to a 1000cc including the S1K, you can get hurt or die just as fast on a 600cc as a 1k. Now back in the day when there was no electronics that argument might be valid but no longer. You made the right choice, that's a bike you can grow into. Just keep it in rain mode for a few months until you get accustomed to it & don't try to ride above your limit & you'll be just fine. Ride safe & enjoy:)
Leanz McGee definitely agree with you and thanks! It has been in rain mode since I got it and plan on keeping it that way for a few more months haha but once again thank you
He is right If this was the older bikes with no electronics It would be a no contest argument but because the BMW has good electronics It is feasible and it is possible
I test drive a friends 1000cc. It was my first time ever riding a bike, and it was the scariest thing ever. You really have to pay attention to what you’re doing because there’s so much power with such little effort.
While many people may say it’s a terrible idea to start on a 1000cc, it also teaches you to stay attentive of everything you’re doing and everything around you. While starting on a 1k can cause you to develop bad riding habits, starting on a smaller bike can also develop bad attention habits and cause you to get too comfortable on the road. Still not an amazing argument to start on a 1k but it’s not technically impossible
Having owned a few bikes in my life, I say you made the right choice! I got used to my 600 really quick and then, once I moved to a 1000, I had much more fun and it's really no big deal if you respect the bike!
Facts my guy im hopefully gonna get my first bike soon too and where i live there are 1000cc bikes cheaper than 400s and 600s and ive got my eye on a 1986 honda cbr 750r 1000cc cbr swap at the moment for a steal of a deal it sounds amazing and i honestly cant wait to get my hands on it. One thing ive known for years and that i will be implementing on this bike is respect the bike and go the speed limit, where i live there are tons of massive potholes so ill either be going speed limit or slower depending on where the potholes are. I lost a friend 2 years ago in a motorcycle accident he was going mad fast and lost control of the bike and ended up hitting a giant pine tree so speed can get one killed so even if i get this cbr1000 swapped 750r ill be respectful towards it. Stay safe g and enjoy that beautiful work of art you have there💪
I had a cbr1000rr n I as well got it on a steal as my first, n I respected that bike more than my own father. Ppl will try to buy it off of me, talk fear into me n what’s crazy I’ve seen 600 n smaller bikes get laid down from ppl not respecting the bike n being plain stupid
You can get serious hurt on a 50 cc bike, but the idea is to work up to 1000 cc learn to handle different levels of power before getting on 1000, I started with a 440 ,600,750 900, 1000 , its basically all about a maturaty level and riding level.. experience is key.
this debate is old asf. as long as your carful and don't go fast when you shouldn't, and get to know the bike, you'll be fine. you can do the same damage to yourself on a 600 and that's for not being cautious of your surroundings. just dont start out riding like all the youtubers do.
I think the same thing applies to cars. If you have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier and drive like an absolute idiot, you’re going to crash. If you learn to drive on a Ferrari 458 and are very gentle with the throttle and careful, you’ll be perfectly fine. It’s also important to note all the safety features a high end bike like this has. I started on a Honda XR650L. No abs. No traction control. Super shit handling. Hella torque. To me, that’s more dangerous than a bike like this.
Is it reliable up until this point ? I want to get one and I have not heard of anyone talking about reliability. And is the seat as bad as people say it is?
No, you should not start riding a motorcycle on a 1000cc cycle but if you can ride but never rode a sports bike , I think you'll be ok on a 1000cc just get to know the bike.
Bruh we are twins😂 I own a brz, just got my license and have the opportunity to get an s1000 for a steal, also I live in Houston and we both latinos with the same hairstyle
@@ThePanosassasin they are probably the only thing that deters me from motorcycles... I'm just not a fan of Harleys myself. But the sporty ones those look so fun to drive around and I love how it's got the stance of something like a roadbike with a shit ton of power. I guess it's the age old argument of people that like beach cruisers over ride bikes because they're more comfy.
