I love this so much! Please! I used to main Symm when I played but man... she needs to much help. If she was reworked again in a way like this then I'd play again.

I propose one of 2 reworks with Symetra but i wull preface it with: I dont think she needs it. She needs some buffs and adjustments, but I think she is fine as is kit wise. But the following is a IF it must happen THEN kinda deal. DPS Rework Weapon: Symettra has am odd place as a high utility focused DPS. I propose making her current left click her new right click and her old left click being her old left click. The difference: Left Click is auto aimed and gives charge slower. Right click is aimed, gives charge faster and does bonus damage to shields. This makes her a shield buster still. Turrets: Has 2 charges, improved health and beam charges own damage over 3 seconds. With improved capabilities, doesnt recharge until the turret is destroyed. Teleporter: Able to stay permanently, recharges only when destroyed. Can be destroyed manually for half CD, full CD if enemy destorys it. Ultimate: Maximized Output. Grant all constructs enhanced effects, extra shielding and maximized energy for weapons for a limited time. Basically, the DPS is more of a focus on mid ranged combat and constructing tools for control and utility. The new ult seems more proper for a DPS to have. Support Rework Weapon: Mostly unchanged, but maybe number tweeks needed. Turrets: Keep the same. Making them heal was a good idea pre-illari. But Illari exists, so making them heal just wouldnt be unique now. New Ability: Hardlight Weave. A mini shield of just 25, where the big benefit is that if gives a regen effect when active. If used on an ally that already has the shield, it gives a burst heal. While the mini shield is up, it prevents headshot damage. Teleport: Same as DPS rework (Permanent, CD on destroyed, etc) Ultimate: Same as current (it works well as a support ult) This rework would make Symettra a good scrapper and diver support, aiding characters in recovering in between dives in and giving a little more sustain in battles. Her weapon being good against shields would also make her good for countering shields as a support if needed.

let me try a different rework idea first the turrets: now not destroyable do very low damage(lets say ~2 per tick with same tickrate) apply a stonger slow effect stay for 20 sec on the map 10 sec recharge time and up to 2 charges maybe >Can be destroyed by a Melee attack(would incentivise Sym players to still place the turrets smart) Teleporter: Stays on the map until destroyed recharges while active While i think the changes above would fit her regardless of role, i think Symmetra fits a support role best but i dont see her healing the team so thats the mindset for the rest. Weapon: Leftclick: Thats something i was never fond of lets replace it with her rightclick! Either fix her damage so she can kill ppl again or give her back the old rightclick that goes trough shields and multiple ppl and lower the damage a bit Her new Rightclick: 3-4 sec CD abilly with a short cast(like hack) that grants a 20% overshield to a Teammate for 10 sec and removing any negative effect on the ally/givving them 0.5 immunity against negative effects Ultimate: I Like the Idea of Sym building something on the Map for your Team and Symmetra is shown to shield normal folk in a comic so: She builds a small Shield generator that is destroyable(think lifeweaver tree but smaller) that pulses essentialy Zarya bubbles every 2-3 sec to the team thats in range for 8-10 sec she would be a support without any healing done

I literally don't see symmetra having healing turrets, like we already have a hero (illaori) who can put a sun pylon anywhere. Plus, Idk why all of the sudden people think she needs a rework? 🤨 im really confused, like whats the reason?

right? every Sym support rework people post just ends up making "Illari but worse" with the turrets and healing beam secondary fire. would feel EXTREMELY same-y. there's no way that Sym turrets could heal as effectively as pylon not only because pylon's targeting radius is more forgiving, but also because they can also do damage. their health pool would either be too low for them to survive as support tools or too high for them to be healthy as damage tools. sym was never meant to heal. any rework where she isn't in the damage class usually has me praying they don't implement anything close to it.

Because she's annoying it's the same complaints that ruined overwatch. People didn't know how to play against cc. So they complained and now we have overwatch 2. Ironically some characters that cc hurt are now unplayable ball is pathetic right now even with cc being reduced.

@@Zipperskull_ I'm also saying if you want to change anything go back to 6v6. And bring back cc as it's a needed part of the game. People just hated it because they didn't now how to fight it.

Teleporter rework: Pressing ability again after use changes building from a teleport between two locations to a rectangular barrier that stretches between the two points, the longer the barrier the less total health it has. Ultimate change: Creates a shield generator building with ~400 hp, which gives up to 75 overhealth in 25 overhealth bursts every 1-2 seconds, no duration limit but ult generation is paused while building is active, teammates with overhealth are immune to headshot crits. Basically, the TP rework allows her to use her building in combat in more unique ways, dancing between either side of the barrier like the current ult, and the ultimate change is designed around locking down a defensive position for your team to hold, preventing burst headshot damage but the actual building is vulnerable because of its limited range, hunting down and destroying the generator would give a greater reward since Sym can't generate ult charge while it's active, you'd have to dedicate a lot more resources just protecting the generator.

The holes ability is actually technically impossible. One way it could work is scrap the cover bit and make it just a TP, like Bard from LoL. It could still have the see-through effect but it wouldn't affect physics. You could make it shoot-throughable but only in the same way TP teleports entities, and some workaround would need to be implemented for hitscans to work with it as well. There's a lot of complications with making it have travel time for players going from one end to the other so i'd just say it's instantaneous and a cooler TP. This implementation would still have a TON of performance caveats. The proposed ultimate also has a lot of performance caveats, i'd make it so the turrets after teleporting become a weird light orb thing that is just a powered up turret instead of actually rendering a whole ass new symmetra to reduce the poly count. Remember, this game needs to at least pretend it can run on the switch. I can't finish the video now so i'll come back later to give my full opinion

A ray is cast forward from symmetra and if that line goes through a wall and out the other side then a portal like the one doctor strange uses in the marvel overwatch game is placed on either side of the wall. The distance the line traveled through the object is measured and then an out of bounds corridor has the portals placed in it that same distance as the walls, leaving an effect of a small corridor section in the wall without having to delete any geometry. That’s how I imagine it could be done

i will say this was Great... until you started talking about the teleporter i will say a better option is if she could throw her teleporters like her turrets and maybe it has a range a little farther then the one we have now, and the drawback is the cooldows longer and the up times shorter. also her ult should be closer to her older support one

"her turrrets expire" rework disregarded. I want to set up the carwash and have the enemies regret having their cars so dirty. Have MORE turrets, give her 6 of them, i don't care if she has no weapon, just make her turrets amazing

I mean they can move her back to support drop off a lot of damage for it to feel like support Left click and right click do the same Drone instead of just attacking they just the damage a lot and instead allow every hit to generate shield for teammates and also super charge gun but lower damage how the healing work is just the drone and you get constant shield as long as the drone is beaming if the drone beam a teammate it heals with shields as a replace and if attack opponents does very little damage but super charged gun to up fire rate and damage Teleport is cool how it is ability fits better as a support tool Ultimate can be the same or change She doesn’t need a crazy rework we should just play to her strengths by first putting her in the best category that fits her aka support she sucks as a dps

Bro. Photon Relocator has nothing to do with hard light. And Life Weaver was the one that discovered you can heal with hard light, not Symmetry. I feel this rework was a rushed idea.

Every rework this guy proposes just makes the hero more clunky and overly complicated and with this and the noise ability it'd just make the character busy and bad. Shows low understanding of these characters and the game

If there is one thing i have to criticize is he really is fond of bloating the char kits. But i feel what he's going for. Most of overwatch's issues with fun are in how uninteractive the char kits are and how straight forward each interaction is. His solution is just injecting interesting dynamics into the characters, which isn't elegant but it makes sense.

​@AluRooftop problem is that it always depends on the game jts made in. Sure, it could work in another hero shooter. But OW already has a lot going on and creating such overly complex characters wouldn't be a good idea.
